There's that crazy sarcasm again!!! The mere fact that you do not seek adulation......is one of the very things we love about you, I however seek praise and adulation on a regular basis, since I am the greatest BigSoccer poster of all time.
Alrighty, I think I found the party. And with this news of our resident AFL footy-loving mate: His beloved Hawthorn side may get the AFL's wooden spoon this year, but Spartacus himself is currently leading BigSoccer's midseason footy tipping competition at present. And not for long, if I can help it. Mate, I'll beat you to that grand prize of the official match guernsey.
He's kidding about his future.....don't get any ideas.....he won't PA any Geelong matches anytime soon.....although, as humble as he is, he'd probably do it for a warm Fosters.
Unfortunately......kind words in this thread and maybe some positive rep are our only ways to say "thank you".
That makes two Hawks fans on this board. Hawthorn were the glory team of the 80's much like the 49ers...and they have a lot in common with the Niners now.
I have to say....the one bright spots vs Alaves last night was Spartacus flawlessly presenting their names. To me it is a sign of respect, to fluently pronounce one's name. Bonano, Edu Alonso, Carreras, Pellegrino, Téllez, Juanito, Jandro, Mena, Bodipo, Navarro, Nene. Nothing worse than a PA butchering foreign names.....it's embarrassing. Good job man!
Totally agree! I knew he was practicing the day before. So I listened a bit more closely! Good job! Also, the Hawaiian on Hawaiian night was great!
Oh, that was nice! Even with the 4500 there, and some of them being in the bathrooms/concession stands, Spartacus' second prompt definitely got more response out of the crowd. I half expected the guys practicing on the field at halftime to start booing lol.
Oh yeah....I chuckled at that one. Something to the effect of...."C'mon people.....I said it was The Los Angeles Galaxy!"....he said, oozing disappointment in the lack of emotion. The fans responded with a heartier round of boos......even Alaves fans booed.
At first I wasn't sure whether to cheer (because we were going to trounce them twice) or boo (practicing) so appreciated the second prompt which made it clear that booing was expected.
Ahhh.... interesting. So perhaps Spartacus wasn't getting the expected response because fans weren't sure what that was....
Not to mention all of the new Quakes names that he hadn't announced before. Spartacus - hats off to you, even when the stadium is kind of empty and dead your voice projects enthusiasm and energy. Well done.
DING DING DING DING DING DING...NO MORE CALLS PLEASE! WE HAVE A WINNER! Come on, people. Your response to the words "Los Angeles Galaxy" or any derivitave form of same should be unequivocally Pavlovian. There's no excuse. I almost did that Saturday night with the bigger crowd. And if your behavior isn't within acceptable parameters this coming Saturday, I'll embarass you all again. Be ye warned!
I'm only as good as the input I get from others...and Monday night I did not get good input. I was faking it all the way. For example, on the official lineup sheet, the #7 for Alaves was listed simply as "Lluis"...no last name. I figured our media relations department had some "local knowledge" as they may have interacted with the people from the Spanish club during their tour. So I took that as "official". It was not "official". It was merely "incorrect". Which certainly made me sound like an idiot to the half-dozen or so Alaves fans in attendance.
That's because we (at least me) were saving our boos for someone else. "...Los Angeles galaxy" = boooooo "...landon donovan" = BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I wasn't there Monday, but I dare say, Spartacus' voice was as smooth and velvety as promised on Saturday. Well, what I could hear of it, at least.
