I only start successful threads, if that thread would fly.....i'd have started it myself.......and let me say, i'd hardly be as humble as Spartacus.....you know.....since i'm the greatest poster that Big Soccer has ever known!

Back on topic.....Spartacus is the single most identifiable element of the San Jose Earthquakes, from a fan viewpoint.......nationally, i'm sure Spartan Stadium is more recognizable......the difference, the fans won't miss Spartan when a new SSS comes along.....if Spartacus doesn't come with, there will be riots in the streets of SJ.....believe that!

I really have to agree the whole experience wouldn't be the same without him. We know that voice and we love that voice it makes the game that much more enjoyable, it adds another dimension to the game that really you can’t put into words. But it gets the crowd fired up.

It's time to organize a "Spartacus for SJ Mayor" campaign. After all, just think of the money he will save the City on transportation alone!!!!!

Since he is one of the team......we should disect his technique per match. For instance.....with the Metros here on the 23rd.......does he save Guevera for last or Agoos....I actually hate Guevera, I only dislike "Agoos the Metro"......and how does he handle the international star, Djorkaeff's, intro? Man....all those decisions and he delivers every single time......that's why he gets paid the big bucks!

He gets the big bucks because of two things.

The quality of his voice and his enthusiasm (minus the sarcasm).

His ability to pronounce even the most unpronouncable names on Earth.

I challenge BSers to come up with names that Spartacus cannot pronounce.

    I have already chosen "February."

I'll bet he gets this one...

    Ace Ntsoelengoe.

Hint: Russ, this player is from the Markham Hall era (and even before!) :D

Oh but they are! Your brilliant announcing skills could teach him how to say players names properly. I mean, what other announcer do you know that can say Ching's Hawaiian name so well?!

His name is Jim Leahey. You haven't lived until you've heard him say "Kila Kamakawiwoole".

    I'm out.
