TM has an American named Oliver Ba with Tours FC's U17s. https://www.transfermarkt.de/oliver-ba/profil/spieler/1324750 That would seem to be this kid from Strikers who seems to be an '08 and joined their U16s about a year ago. https://www.instagram.com/strikersfcirvine/p/CyOpb4_uQ9C/?img_index=1 I really don't have any reason to think that he's related to Demba Ba apart from the surname, though I do see that the elder Ba was involved with a club in San Diego for a while not long ago. That could be a huge stretch, though.
Yeah, been messing around with this a bit in recent days. I'm cautiously optimistic that this will be great, though you're right that it doesn't seem that robust yet and I don't know how many if any dual citizenships it will list. Still, it seems like a move in the right direction! This search turns up some stuff, but with a ton of noise, so I guess I need to mess around with it some more.
A Spanish lower-division club lists Daniel and David Ansah on its roster. https://www.balsamaiso.es/Equipos/Tercera-RFEF/ They seem to be brothers "from New York." I have no particular reason to think they aren't American -- just that I haven't yet found confirmation except on some database sites, like this one for instance. https://ng.women.soccerway.com/players/david-ansah/807184/
A follower on Twitter is speculating that Jonathan Vimos, an academy player at Girona, is American. He appears to be on Instagram but there's no direct evidence yet. https://marcetfootball.com/en/jonathan-vimos/
The Diego Velasquez listed on the second team at Pardubice in the Czech Republic appears to be this guy from Illinois. Given that he's from the same area and on the same squad as Diego Zarate, I would guess there's some kind of link/common back story there, but I suppose I could be wrong. https://fkpardubice.cz/player/409-Diego-Velasquez?category=MUB https://pearsonsportsgroup.com/latest-news/f/diego-velasquez-returns-to-czech-republic-on-trial https://www.hudl.com/profile/16445729/Diego-Velasquez https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/diego-zarate-in-the-czech-republic.2132525/
An '05 named Matthew Kirokiro is now listed with Darlington FC in England. A number of sites have him as American, which based on some breadcrumbs seems at least likely. (Some of those sites say he's retired but seems wrong.) https://darlingtonfc.co.uk/player/matthiew-kirokiro https://www.playmakerstats.com/player/mattiew-kirokiro/958897
Based on the photos (and name) it looks like he's on the developmental squad at a club called Slough Town in England. https://www.sloughtownfc.net/profile/2407/Wyatt-Marin
At the J.League data site mentioned by @naopon, I think it returns a list of players born in the US when entering "アメリカ合衆国" into the bottom left box - not sure if that search might include the entirety of those players. https://data.j-league.or.jp/SFIX03/
AFAIK the only player (current or historical) it misses is Dan Calichman (who is listed when searching for US nationality) - presumably back then they didn't record all the players' birthplaces. Quite an eclectic list of US-born guys in the J.League - the only player of any remote relevance to the USSF would be Kennedy Mikuni, whom I would describe as a physically gifted, towering center back who is still working out the wrinkles in his game but has finally nailed down a consistent starting spot at Nagoya Grampus.
Milan Johnson at Ajax - USA flag in his IG bio. His bio says he's a GK. On the U15 roster here Cosmo Veken at Ajax - USA/Netherlands flags in his IG bio. On the U14 roster here Eintracht Frankfurt academy player - USA/Germany flags in his IG bio. Seems likely this is his profile on the Eintracht Frankfurt U15 roster. A corresponding DFB profile Noah Sheriff Jr at ADO Den Haag - USA/Liberia flags in his IG bio. His bio says he's with the U15s '07 Mateo Fisher at Vålerenga - USA/Norway flags in his IG bio. Transfermarkt says he's a CB. A profile on the club's website '03 Rafael Martell at Club Atlético Brown - Transfermarkt lists Germany/USA/Argentina and that he was born in Germany. Says that he's a GK formerly in the Inter Miami academy Juan Meza at Dock Sud - USA flag in his IG bio '07 Lazar Jankovic at GFK Sloboda Užice - Transfermarkt lists USA/Serbia and has him with the U19s '04 Nicolás Cuevas at Sabadell - This post says USA/Venezuela/Argentina/Spain. A profile page here
There's a younger player with the same middle/last name combination who is or recently was at a club in Austria, listed only as Austrian. That doesn't necessarily tell us anything super important (at least, it's not that hard to spin up a scenario where they're not brothers) but figured I'd mention it.
Verification that Justin Homma (at Vissel Kobe, on loan from Yokohama F. Marinos) is half American: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yanks-in-the-j-league.2114640/#post-41942407
He still seems to be there. For whatever reason, the club's first-team roster page calls him "Bel LaDarius." https://svmorlautern.de/1-mannschaft/ There are a lot of Yanks on this team! Morlautern is basically Kaiserslautern, which may at least partly explain the American connection.
Doesn't add much but here's an announcement from what was apparently his old club basically saying something like "Hey, our guy got scouted by Ajax!" https://www.odin59.nl/1/1809/cosmo-veken-jo8-1-op-stage-bij-ajax/ A Dutch (non-competitive soccer-playing, but accomplished athlete in other sports) friend of mine told me once that just about every kid in Amsterdam gets at least one look from that club. I guess sometimes it works out!
No idea if he would be a US citizen or not. Utica has had a massive transformation over the past two decades and is a very diverse city with lots of 1st generation immigrants. Lot so really good food is available in the city.
I certainly don't know (or mean to imply) that he's not -- I truly haven't looked into it. In any case, the idea that he'd return to the U.S. to visit his school would suggest a connection at least some degree stronger than "exchange student for a semester" or whatever. @topshellf -- I don't know why it happens, but it sometimes seems that embedded tweets take some time to load in posts, at least for me. But they eventually show up.
Luis Gutierrez at Cruz Azul is shown on TM as a dual Mexican-American. They say he was born in Mexico. I can't find any detailed info on him in the interwebs. https://www.transfermarkt.com/luis-gutierrez/profil/spieler/689837 This comes from an affiliated media outlet that doesn't add anything positive to the citizenship claim. It sounds like he was raised in Mexico as well. To the surprise of the sky-blue fans, Luis Ángel Gutiérrez Grimm was trained in the América youth academy, from the Basic Forces in the Under 15. Thus, the forward born in Mexico City played for Coapa until 2022, passing through the Under 15, Under 17 and Under 20. Later, for the Apertura 2022 he was registered with Atlético San Luis in the first team, however, he was unable to make his debut in the Primera División, as he only played for the youth categories: in the Under 20 and Under 23, he even established himself as captain. https://vamoscruzazul.bolavip.com/n...-que-registro-cruz-azul-para-el-apertura-2024 Liga MX profile:
I don't remember where I got the tip, but I looked into this one a while back and couldn't pin it down. Doesn't mean much, and that was a while ago, but I guess I could poke around a bit more.
According to TM, Teo Hupfauf is a dual Austrian-American playing GK for Red Bull Salzburg. https://www.transfermarkt.com/teo-hupfauf/profil/spieler/1294141 He's only 14, but has trained with the 1st team: Hupfauf moved from Wacker Innsbruck's youth team to the Red Bull Academy in 2023. At the "Porsche Football Cup 2024" held in Stuttgart in September, he was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Not much on the Yank angle online. That unusual last name might help, though I couldn't find any breadcrumbs.
His OEFB page doesn't say American on it, but I don't think those pages generally show multiple nationalities. https://www.oefb.at/Profile/Spieler/1111270?Teo-Hupfauf I noticed that there's another player named Hupfauf with connections to the same club in Innsbruck. but he's surely too young to be his father and seemingly too old to be his brother, though who knows of course. Could be a relative, or just coincidence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lukas_Hupfauf
This site says a GK at English club Scarborough named Benjamin Chamberlin is American. It's possible, but I'm not certain. He apparently joined a few years ago from York City. It could be mistaken identity, too... https://us.soccerway.com/players/benjamin-chamberlin/609283/
Marcus C. is reporting that Roman Avakian Gomez who moved to Mainz from Mexico at age 14 is US-born. 1871329216824041510 is not a valid tweet id This account says he was born in San Diego: https://www.instagram.com/p/DCFtRFTghPe/ Es categoría 2010, tiene 14 años de edad y es nacido en San Diego, California , su madre es de Mexico (Ocotlán, Jalisco) y su padre de Armenia . It also says he was with APFC in San Diego, which appears to be run by Albert Puig from Barcelona. Sounds more like training system than a youth club. According to Marcus, he lived in the US until about age 12 so there should be a few clues out there.
