He's back with Lugano's U21 squad. Not much other info out there that I can find. His name translates to "Scared Man" so he's got that going for him.
TM lists Derick Palacios as a dual US-Honduras citizen, playing for CD Marathon. Date of birth/Age: Nov 2, 2005 (18) From a profile: The Palacios surname will be heard again in the ranks of Marathón . Thirteen years have passed since Jerry and Milton played their last match with the 'verdolagas' shirt; however, Derick Palacios , one of the nephews of this privileged generation of football brothers, will continue with the dynasty. The native of the Garifuna community of Sambo Creeck in La Ceiba is a lanky forward who is characterized by his strength, height and the determination he brings to the game. His dreams have no limits and he wants to stand out in the National League in the near future. Derick Palacios has scored around 80 goals so far in his career between minor leagues and special reserves. Right now he is one of the prospects of the Honduras U-20 team that aims to qualify for the next World Cup in this category. https://www.elheraldo.hn/deportes/d...nacional-marathon-honduras-OH16444468#image-1 Made his 1st team debut: Derick Palacios, de 18 años, debutó con el CD Marathón en el primer partido de la temporada en la victoria ante UPNFM Lobos 🦖 pic.twitter.com/ghPvGjgSw9— HondurasFútbolTV 📺 (@HNFutbolTV) February 6, 2024 TM profile: https://www.transfermarkt.com/derick-palacios/profil/spieler/1226847

This is an interesting one. He's apparently the nephew of Wilson, Jerry and Milton Palacios. That might mean he's the son of Edwin or or Johnny. I think Edwin was killed at 16 back in 2009. Johnny is in his late 30s and was playing in Honduras in 2005. But since evidently Derick was born in Honduras I suppose his U.S. link would likely be through his mother anyway.
I see TM and other breadcrumbs out there indicating that Tonny Temple (remember Tonny Temple?) is now with a club called Spartak Police nad Metuji in the Czech Republic. Haven't had time to look closely into it, but it seems like there's a story here, perhaps to do in part with injury -- TM has him as not playing for several years. https://www.transfermarkt.de/tonny-temple/profil/spieler/411929 He might be mentioned in this article, but I can't access it. https://jicinsky.denik.cz/fotbal-di...y-novacek-by-rad-tesil-skvele-fanousky-2.html
Hi Dave, Dominic from Transfermarkt here. Tonny is now playing in the Czech Republic. This has been confirmed by our data scout, who has access to the Czech transfer system. He has no performance data with us, as he did not play in any league listed in our database between 2018 and 2024.
Thanks. Looking into it a bit more, it looks like he played collegiately in Canada in 2021 after spending the spring of that year associated with Akron. https://ouazspirit.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/tonny-temple/2813 https://www.soccerwire.com/news/uni...cer-team-welcomes-10-player-recruiting-class/ TM has him as playing in a cup match for the Czech club earlier this month. https://www.transfermarkt.us/mfk-trutnov_spartak-police-nad-metuji/index/spielbericht/4367079 The town where this club is, Police nad Metuji, is a pretty long way to go for a game. It's roughly midway between Prague and Wroclaw, Poland.
There was some rumbling about Jack Rudoni of Coventry City having a US passport, but it turned out to be a dead end as his father didn't live long enough in the US to pass along citizenship. More of the elusive "his grandparent is American" myth. https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/s...ws/coventry-jack-rudoni-usa-olympics-29516379

GK Mick Tiel at FC Utrecht - The aforementioned Mick Tiel started this cup final for FC Utrecht U16 vs Ajax in June (you can hear the announcer say Mick Tiel) Albin Angelo Williams - Europe-based ODP player who was on a 2009 ODP team this year. Posted that he visited some MLS academies on his IG. Might be at FC Dallas now. Looks like he was previously in Germany per a FuPa profile Guillermo Hunt Saura at FC Cartagena - GK who has Spain/USA flags in his IG bio. Earlier this year he played in the regional selections competition that they do in Spain (he was with the Murcia U16 selection). LaPreferente profile '07 Sebastian Sime at River Plate - Puerto Rican player listed with the River Plate U20s by Transfermarkt. Not sure if eligible for the US '09? Aidan Gabbidon at Sligo Rovers - Seems to be an '09 defender who has made multiple senior team squads. He's been with the Ireland U15s and his brother is Kyle Gabbidon who has been mentioned in the thread. Transfermarkt profile Pablo Cucci at Atletico Madrid - A player previously mentioned in various places online. He was there last season, appearing in at least 17 official games with the Juvenil C squad. LaPreferente profile '05 Roots-Ken Iverson Jean Baptiste at Atlas - Was on the Haiti U20 provisional list which had him at Atlas. Seems to be a recruiting profile for him here. From that, he was born in Haiti and moved to the US when he was young. The spelling from that profile is Rootsken Jean Baptiste '08 Alejandro Perez at Sporting Gijon - Has USA and Panama flags and also tags Sporting Gijon in his bio on IG '06 Mac Vargas at Alcorcon - IG bio has USA/Dominican Republic/Croatia flags and tags Alcorcon. Seems to be from Georgia. Recruiting profile Burnley academy player who follows USYNT on IG FC Ingolstadt academy player whose IG bio has German/Puerto Rico/USA flags
Notes on a few names from the thread: Jalen Blesa: This article/interview says he was born to American parents in Barcelona - “He was born in Barcelona, Spain, while his parents are from the United States of America.” Alexander Woiski: According to this article, he does have a US passport and received invites from Argentina, the US, and Italy all on the same day: (Google Translation) “Not for nothing declined the chance to play for Italy and the United States, federations that - taking advantage of the fact that the striker has both passports - sought to tempt him although unsuccessfully: although he received the pair of calls literally hours after that of Argentina” The article would seem to have received info from the family. Looks like his dad is a Mallorca-based soccer agent who went to the University of Florida. Asher Artz: This article says that he was called into a German U16 camp in May. He also participated in the German regional selections competition in May with the Niederrhein U16 selection (more info in the same article)

The data might naturally be tricky for any potential dual nats born in Mexico because the Liga MX site will simply list them as Mexicano, while obviously there's a tell with any of the players with a US birthplace. Christopher Torres Félix is listed as born in Mexico, so that's one of those aforementioned cases it looks like: https://ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/117453/christopher-torres-felix Luis Enrique Lee Salcedo listed as born in California: https://ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/158067/luis-enrique-lee-salcedo José Ángel Cortez Navarrete listed as born in Nevada: https://ligamx.net/cancha/jugador/158540/jose-angel-cortez-navarrete
In terms of Google site searches of the Liga MX site, it seems like some profiles may or may not always come up for whatever reason. Another method for site searching this data could be Google site searches of BeSoccer which likely is sourcing their info from the Liga MX site, though seems to be a bit more to Google's liking in this case. And then can check back with the Liga MX site for confirmation. Example: site:besoccer.com "2006" "Estados Unidos de América" Which searches for birth year & place of birth. Whether that returns absolutely all the profiles, I'm not sure, but it may be something to try in comparison to Liga MX site searches. In addition, if someone did want to go through the official rosters themselves and go about it that way, it seems like that's also possible on the Liga MX website. For instance this is the U23 table, and clicking on the team links brings up player profiles for the players registered with the team: https://sub23.ligamx.net/cancha/tablas/tablaGeneralClasificacion/sp/ERROR Like Puebla U23: https://sub23.ligamx.net/cancha/club/12907/puebla-fc Then opening up all those profiles in new tabs and going through them is a way to go about it, and it appears possible for U15 through first team, if someone were to be interested in something like that. Of course, that would be a project.
