    This Croatian site referenced in another thread by @UniversalAdvice seems to be useful if you do a Google site search and add a city or other details that might point to somewhere in the U.S. I haven't looked closely at the results yet though.

    This is great thinking!

    It seems like the site tends to use the state name for American players, so I tried a site search with a few states and it was turning up a decent number of current and former American players with the bulk appearing to be at the Croatian third, fourth, fifth, and sixth tiers.

    Then there also profiles for players we know about, which would have a nice use case if wanting to check in on for stats/match reports.

    Was it ever actually established that he had an American connection that might entitle him to a passport, or even that there was reason to think that he might?

    If I remember right, the story I heard is that Camarda appeared in Football Manager with an other listed nationality of American. Considering he is too young to be licensed in the game (you have to be 16 unless you sign a waiver granting special permission and as far as I know Martin Ødegaard is the only one to have ever done that), a third party fan editor was responsible for his inclusion in whatever game file was being used where this information was first noticed. While there's a small chance that whoever made the file has a strong indication of him being American that hasn't come out elsewhere, the much more likely outcome is that the other nationality was unintentionally added while making a custom player. I see no reason to believe this was anything other than an innocent error or track this player at this point unless something new comes out. With Musah and Puli both there, surely it will be looked into if he continues on his current trajectory.

    This can probably be a thread, but it's kind of a funky (hopefully for reasons that turn out to be amusing) case, so I figured I'd post here.

    Spanish club Acero recently announced the signing of an Evans Craiton. He seems to have moved over from another club, Onda.

    You might've seen this, but I guess in the interest for how a move like that may work, there's someone at this site who seems to have a connection to the player/family - this poster says the parents gained a Spanish "Digital Nomad" visa.

    As the name indicates, it's catered to remote workers who may want to live in Spain, so that's how the logistics appear to be going there. Here's to his success and adventures!

    '05 GK Jean Luc Fontana is in the Granada setup and was called up to the Puerto Rico U20s. So he's a US citizen but didn't quickly see anything that would confirm or not if he's also US eligible.

    Once, the PR federation fielded a team of US passport holders with no connection to the island because the "regular" NT was on strike. But the rules have changed a lot over the years.

    Basically to be eligible the US setup you must have one of the following in addition to holding a US passport:

    * Born in the US proper (excludes PR, Guam, USVI, etc.)
    * One parent or grandparent born in the US proper
    * Lived at least 5 consecutive years in the US proper

    These are the special rules that apply to the 7 nations that have more than one NT.

    Irish club Athlone Town, which last year had like a billion Yanks on the roster, recently updated its 2024 roster progress.

    Based on a skim, here's what I saw:

    • Jamar Campion-Hinds -- yes
    • German Fuentes Rodriguez -- seems to be Salvadoran w American connections (played collegiately here).
    • Jamal Ibrahim -- there appears to be an American player with the same name but I don't think it's him.
    • Matthew Leal -- yes
    • Armado Oakley -- wondering if this is Armando Oakley, who might be some combination of American, Jamican and Canadian based on a quick sniff of the breadcrumbs.
    • Gabriel Padilla -- quite possibly a guy from Massachusetts who played at Framingham State. I think a guy with this name who played at Georgetown is not this guy.
    • Roscoe Rubinstein -- yes
    • Brian Torre -- possibly a guy who seems to be American who played at Lane United in USL2.

    There are a number of breadcrumbs out there indicating that there's a guy with Washington, D.C., area connections named Ike Ezunagu with Werder Bremen's third team. As we've seen over the years, I don't know what to make of a player's presence on this squad, which I think more or less plays a local schedule at a comparatively low level (I think it's more like a third adult team than the top youth squad as third teams are sometimes called), but we've seen guys start there and move to other clubs in more formal competitions.

    A site called SportMob links the family of Wolverhampton player Ki-Jana Hoever with the US:


    Here, Hoever says that his dad was born in Suriname, adopted, and grew up in the Netherlands:

    He does also say his dad played football and confirms the namesake:


    So, I didn't quickly see anything confirming that his father spent extended time in the US or that he played in the US.... he might've simply played in the Netherlands and enjoyed the sport there! It's possible the article simply had tried connecting the dots without having other information.

    Or, maybe there is a connection - I mean, it's certainly not impossible! So overall, just noting it here.

    At first came across the case when I randomly saw someone mentioning he was named after Ki-Jana Carter.

    Hoever formerly garnered attention while at Ajax and Liverpool. He's currently on loan at Stoke City from the aforementioned Wolverhampton.

    I remember looking into him some time ago, can't even remember when. Found way less than you did! (And for the record, I'm pretty sure the only reason I had for looking was pure curiosity about his name -- guess that what happens when one of your parents is a Penn State grad...)

    There's a profile of him on the Holy Cross site that talks about his path to the school. It reads like the kind of thing that you'd think would mention he were American if he were, but it doesn't. That's obviously circumstantial evidence...
