Yeah, the katakana transliteration chosen by (presumably) his family is ヴァンイヤーデン, which can be romanized as Van Iyāden...derived from the Anglicized version of the surname, rather than the Dutch origins. His IG page seems to have moved to @vaneerden.shawn An interview from a year ago:
Was looking up possible dual-nats and found on Transfermarkt a Yuval Ranon at Werder Bremen's U17s. Says that he grew up in Israel, played in North Carolina and now is in Germany. https://www.transfermarkt.com/yuval-ranon/profil/spieler/1042450
Found an article but no mention that he got a US passport while in the US. https://www.one.co.il/Article/427987.html
Thanks -- there is a thread for him, but that link isn't in there. https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yuval-ranon-at-werder-bremen.2122055/
T'Markt says he recently moved from a club in Georgia to a club in Greece. Still trying to confirm most of this.
Have we ever figured out if Tyler Meiser passes the smell-test for a YAA thread? We keep seeing social media posts connecting him to the US, but nothing official beyond a TM profile.
I'm far from an authority here, and I certainly might have missed something as I often do, but I personally have never been able to pin it down or seen something I'd consider 100% confirmation. There are breadcrumbs all over the place, of course.
T'Markt says there's an American '03 named David Konate on the second team of UD Ibiza in Spain. https://www.transfermarkt.com/david-konate/profil/spieler/1098905 A lot of it seems to check out. https://www.collegesportsprep.com/david-konate-soccer-player/ http://cincinnatiunitedsoccer.com/60-cu-cup-players-coaches-among-enquirer-fall-all-stars
FM has Adrian Csenterics listed as a tri-national: Hungary, Lebanon, and United States. He's an 18 year old goalie with a few appearances this season for the first team of MTK Budapest in the second tier of the Hungarian League. He also recorded a clean sheet in his only Kupa Magyar appearance and 3 out of 5 of his UEFA youth league appearances. I wasn't able to quickly identify his connection with the US but I figured I'd add him here in case someone else has more time to do detective work.
This Twitter aggregator of all things YA posted this list of YAs on Athlone Town's squad for the 2023 season: 🇺🇸🇮🇪 Americathlone?Athlone Town AFC in Ireland's 2nd tier is stocking up on yanks🇺🇸🇧🇬 GK Vlad Velikan (24)🇺🇸 CB Patrick Hickey (24)🇺🇸🇵🇹 CB Matthew Leal (19)🇺🇸🇸🇴DM Haji Abdikadir (24)🇺🇸 AM Jamar Campion-Hinds (27)🇺🇸🇭🇹 FWD Frantz Pierrot (23)🇺🇸 FWD Isaie Louis (18) pic.twitter.com/pxWQJjOkkq— 🇺🇸 ⚽ east (@eastdeflection) February 16, 2023 Easy to confirm the others, but Haji Abdikadir doesn't have enough info to readily ID him as a US citizen. TM says he is and he was called in once for the US U14s, but it would be nice to have something a bit more solid before creating a thread. There's no squad posted on the Athlone website and no signing announcement that I could find. He was born in Kenya and been with the Somalian NT, but has been in the US since about age 7. He probably is American, but can't confirm.
Another interesting one from Ireland. I looked at the Wikipedia page of Galway United and saw this player listed: MF USA Darra Hislop He does have an academy profile on the club's page, but only shows that he came from another Irish academy: https://galwayunitedfc.ie/player/darra-hislop/ He's not listed in TM.
That's an interesting one. I noticed that the former club, on Facebook, called him "Dara." https://www.facebook.com/kiltullaghpioneersfc/photos/a.643580905698859/5021314734592099/?type=3 Not many breadcrumbs out there, presumably in large part because he's quite young.
Finally started a thread, for the record: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/dustin-aguirre-at-nacional-uruguay.2124719/
Have we already posted about Martin Krug? He's listed as a Panamanian '06 at Levante in the CONCACAF U17 rosters, and was provisionally cap-tied to that country during the group stage. His brother Frederick apparently is also at the club. https://stconcacafwp001.blob.core.windows.net/media/e20jkndg/final-rosters_update-020923.pdf https://www.concacaf.com/en/men-s-under-17/game-details?matchid=642391 T'Markt says he was born in Chicago. I haven't been able to confirm that, though he certainly seems to be recently from there. CONGRATULATIONS to these two extraordinary young men as they pursue their goal of playing professional soccer. Freddy & Martin Krug are on their way to Valencia, Spain in July to play for Levante. We are going to miss these two. But we are so proud. Soccer Talents says an '05 named Nicolai Clarke is American. http://www.soccer-talents.com/Nicolai_Kahlil_Clarke-3_7-117732-12.html He joined Pescara in Italy in 2019. They seem to have called him an '06. https://www.pescaracalcio.com/altri-arrivi-nelle-giovanili-pescara-calcio/ It does seem he was there at least as recently as October. https://www.pescaracalcio.com/under-17-tabellino-monterosi-pescara-0-6/
Transfermarkt and other sites say an '06 named Max Hathaway is American. He's listed on the club's U17 roster page but without details. Other links on the club site confirm his presence there. I guess he'd be a teammate of Yuval Ranon. https://www.werder.de/teams/junioren/teams/u17/mannschaft/ It's not totally clear to me that he's American; several sites list him as German-born, and the DFB doesn't mention it (which is not in itself conclusive). https://datencenter.dfb.de/en/profile/402355 However, an '06 of this name was with a DA club a few years back, so it's certainly possible. http://www.ussoccerda.com/sam/standings/ss/view_game_report.php?eventId=4151822&teamId=3989004
For people that don’t know, this kid is also eligible for the #USMNT & has been contacted for the U20 team recently https://t.co/ub6igfMfki— Edgar Moreno 🇺🇸🇲🇽 (@ConcacafEdgar) March 9, 2023
Well, I got around to reading that book, which was pretty fun -- moreso if you're a West Ham fan -- but I'm even more certain now that Ade isn't Kenny's dad...
T'Markt says an '03 at a club in Cyprus named Alexandros Solomis is American. https://www.transfermarkt.de/alexandros-solomis/profil/spieler/1068858 Likely this guy who in a scouting/college recruiting video is described as American. The video seems to have worked. He's expected at U. of San Fran next season. We are excited to announce our next signing, Alex Solomis! Alex will be joining us in the Bay as a Freshman next Fall.
