I noticed some sites saying a former NCAA player named Mauro Bravo, now apparently in Greece, is American. That's probably wrong and I think he is "only" Spanish.
Playmakerstats says Luke Pires, an '07 at Atletico Mineiro in Brazil, is American. https://www.playmakerstats.com/player.php?id=1046004&epoca_id=0&search=1 The club confirms his presence and YOB: https://atletico.com.br/sub-15-goleia-e-esta-nas-quartas-de-final-da-copa-brasileirinho/ The database site and this other site I'm unfamiliar with has him as born in Massachusetts. https://www.galodigital.com.br/enciclopedia/Luke_Jacob_Pires_Martins
Connecting a few dots, the Richard Ruiz announced this past summer by a lower-division French club: https://www.facebook.com/GenetsAngletFootball/photos/a.10152142754846820/10158545967221820/?type=3 ... might be the same guy who played in RSL's academy and at Gonzaga. https://gozags.com/news/2020/4/17/mens-soccer-finalizes-2020-recruiting-class.aspx Not 100% sure, so I'm putting it here for now.
I'm not sure where TM got the info, but they report Alex Bruce is a dual Yank/Englishman. https://www.transfermarkt.us/alex-bruce/profil/spieler/561040 He just signed in Vietnam: Very grateful to have signed for Ho Chi Minh City FC in Vietnam. The opportunity means so much to me and my family. Always thank God for putting me in these positions. Excited for the league to start ⚽️ 🇻🇳 pic.twitter.com/Ie1lZP5VwS— Alex Bruce (@alexxbruc) January 18, 2023 He played from at least 2016 to 2022 in the US (looks like a couple of years were with a youth club), but I can't find anything from the clubs that say he is American. The most I can find is a reference to him being "Houstonian/English" but not much more. Could be he came over with his parents when he was young (the old UK-Houston oil pipeline). He lists his hometown as Newcastle: https://www.unionomaha.com/news/2022/03/22/union-omaha-signs-four-ahead-of-2022-campaign/ He could have married an American, but no info. It doesn't help that there's another Alex Bruce in the soccer world: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Bruce_(footballer,_born_1984)
Yeah, dunno. Found an interesting feature about him that you'd think would've mentioned an American parent or other connection and didn't. T'Markt isn't the worst offender in terms of misidentifying guys but it does happen. https://englishplayersabroad.wordpr...who-didnt-need-college-to-turn-pro-in-the-us/
It looks like you can now use Google to scroll the TFF site. This search produces fewer results than I expected... "Lisans Bilgileri" USA site:https://www.tff.org/ ... so I guess I'll need to poke around a bit more there. Open to suggestions!
The summary of this (German, paywalled) article seems to indicate that an American named Duran is on trial with SV Germania Ilmenau: Ex-Oberliga-Spieler Lukas Mosert soll die Offensive beim Fußball-Landesklässler Germania Ilmenau stärken. Derweil ist der US-Amerikaner Duran zur Probe. https://www.thueringer-allgemeine.d...-ilmenau-mit-transfer-hammer-id237415359.html I don't really know who this might be. Certainly, in years past, people with this name have managed to find fame and success in their chosen endeavors.
This is surely this fellow, who was a sophomore at JuCo power Tyler this fall. https://www.apacheathletics.com/sports/msoc/2022-23/bios/bueno_henrique_zzg9
I now have confirmation from Luke's team that he was born in Massachusetts! You may go ahead and make the thread if you'd like.
Killian Phillips of Crystal Palace (currently on loan at Shrewsbury Town) was born in San Diego according to Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killian_Phillips Another website states this and apparently he's been called up to the Ireland U21 squad: https://www.the42.ie/killian-phillips-move-shrewsbury-5958062-Dec2022/
Transfermarkt lists Mohamed Kdouh from Lebanon as having United States citizenship. He already has a lot of caps for Lebanon but I'm still curious what his link may be, if it exists. https://www.transfermarkt.us/mohamad-kdouh/profil/spieler/670802
T'Markt says a player named Abdoul Abonsso at an Austrian lower-division club is American. He might be, but it might also be that he or someone with that name played with an American club and the database folks just made the jump. I've also seen pages referencing a player with this name at various other clubs around Europe. http://www.tsvmcdonalds.at/navimiddle/teams/1-km/ https://premier.upsl.com/players/abdoul-abonsso-plantation-supreme-fc-premier/ https://www.transfermarkt.us/abdoul-abonsso/profil/spieler/1078231
He recently signed with Las Vegas in the USL: https://www.lasvegaslightsfc.com/news/2023/01/25/2023-roster-announcement/ Appears to be Instagram-American: https://www.instagram.com/alemitrano/?hl=en
Another one from Micah W: micah w @MicahW1718 New American abroad! 17 year old midfielder Alexander Popovic is a Czech American dual nat, currently with FK Pribam in Czechia. He has 7 appearances in the top U19 league in the country. I found his club profile, but they only list him as Czech: https://www.fkpribram.cz/hrac.asp?id=Alexander Vasil-Popovic-1231&sezona=2023&kategorie=U19 TM says he is Czech-born: https://www.transfermarkt.com/alexander-popovic/profil/spieler/1010720
I was looking at the rosters in TM for the Mexican 1st & 2nd tiers and saw a couple of Yanks that don't have threads here and don't have a lot of info out there: Name in home country: Luis Ángel Gutiérrez Grimm Date of birth: Oct 17, 2001 Place of birth: Mexico City Age:21 Citizenship: Mexico United States Position: Attack - Left Winger Current club: Atlético de San Luis Name in home country: Manuel Govani López González Date of birth: Oct 26, 2000 Place of birth:, California Age:22 Citizenship: United States Mexico Position: Defender - Centre-Back Current club: Club Atlético Morelia
That's weird. I just saw the full page -- I've had issues with that site where sometimes the pages load in different browsers and not in others. Usually it doesn't work in Chrome but this time it did for some reason.
Yep, it loads fine in Firefox now. #17 in the list of reasons why I seldom even try to use the Liga MX website. Thanks again.
Hi, Dominic from Transfermarkt here. Alex Bruce has the English and the US American citizenship. He has confirmed this himself.
LOL. T'Mark't page for him says "Eerden" though the HTML in the URL of the page itself says "Yaden." https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/shawn-van-yaden/leistungsdaten/spieler/910036 And yeah, the club site's URL for him is "Eerden" but the translate is "Yearden." https://www.yokohamafc.com/player/2023_32_vaneerden_shawn/ That IG page for him seems to be down for me -- can you still see it?
