A cached page from an apparently defunct page called football.talents.ba says "USA" on it. So maybe that's something!

A group of American-based players went to SG Guldenbachtal in Germany's 6th tier for tryouts late last year:

Louisville Colorado’s own Shane F. Wheeler, joins 4 players from Boulder County’s Peak Eleven FC to be the first of many to arrive at SG Guldenbachtal in the BEZIRKSLIGA (VERBAND). Joining Shane will be midfielder Lorenzo Hernandez, centerback Keegan Lape, goalkeeper Jason Curry, forward Bobby Edet and forward Tim Brackett.

The Americans hope to sign and gain promotion with Guldenbachtal taking them to the next levels of the Landesliga, Verbandsliga Sudwest, and the ultimate goal of Oberliga play.

Seems at least 3 of them latched on with the club according to the team's roster page:

    TIMOTHY ANDREW BRACKETT

    BOBBY EDET

    LORENZO ARTURO HERNANDEZ II

No real info on the team's pages.

upload_2022-4-28_17-45-52.jpeg Football manager claims 2004 Ken Aboh of Norwich’s city academy has American roots. No other place online shows this, so it could just be a case of a video game being wrong, still thought it was interesting enough to post

T'Markt also has an '04 with the same surname at AFC Amsterdam and says he's Julian's brother.

Were we ever able to confirm that '04 Mateus Kolenda is American, as T'Markt says?

    https://www.transfermarkt.de/mateus-kolenda/profil/spieler/805867

He does appear to be with St. Pauli's U19s:

    https://www.fcstpauli.com/teams/nachwuchs/mannschaften/u19/

The DFB only lists him as German. Weltfussball has him as born in Poland:

    https://www.weltfussball.de/spieler_profil/mateus-kolenda/

Here he is playing for IMG in 2017. One of his coaches was a former YA many of you won't recall:

No idea, but for the record (unsurprisingly given his apparent age) he is listed at the club, on the U16s, rather than the U19s, as T'Markt notes. I guess it's possible he has played for the U19s and thus got tagged that way.

T'markt and Soccerway say that '04 GK David Sebastián Silva of CA Cerro in Uruguay was born in the USA. CA Cerro play in the 2nd division of Uruguay.

I posted about him a short while back, but my post didn't add much to this except that at the time, he'd been on the bench for the first team, so maybe he's close to breaking through or has done so.

He has moved to Botafogo in Brazil as of April. I did notice that he has a US flag on his Instagram account.

This article is saying he is a dual Yank (and now a teammate of Niko Hämäläinen).

    https://thegoaspotlight.com/2022/04...-day-joffre-bolivian-from-the-crystal-palace/

His club profile only mentions Bolivia:

    https://www.botafogo.com.br/futebol/elenco-interna.php?atleta=340000089

It's a little more promising, but it'd be nice to have something more official.

I can't easily find much information on this gentlemen that would confirm US citizenship.

Tyler Meiser from the U15 team of Borussia Dortmund

A month or two I spent some time looking into a German-based prospect who might or might not have been Meiser. I honestly don't remember if it was, and anyway I came up short. I guess I should keep looking. You're welcome!

Elijah Evans, a coach with NC Fusion, replied to me on Twitter to say that Tyler Meiser's mom is American. Pretty thin, I know.

I spent some time trying to run that down. You got more than me. Her name is Isabell Meiser, btw. Spelled as such

The thing I wonder about Meiser is this - you would assume that, even beyond the player level, there are certainly some connections between Dortmund and US Soccer at the administrative level?

So whether or not Reyna, Maloney, or even youth players who trained there (Fletcher) knew about him, or just didn’t make it known if he was US eligible, which of course isn’t their responsibility to do or know about at all… there are still staffers on Dortmund who would almost certainly know about his eligibility, and some of those same staffers may be the same contact points for US Soccer. And on top of that, Dortmund’s youth gets plenty of eyes from both the media and kind of people like on this very forum.

There will always be players who go under the radar, but a highly rated youth player, captain at his age level, at a big club with US connections only having his potential eligibility come to light when he’s linked to Barcelona?

Of course it’s always possible that US Soccer knew about him internally and he is still young, but regardless the optics of the whole situation seem a bit strange especially as the Insta flag method usually doesn’t lie:

Just a bit of a strange one for it to surface this way… maybe has something to do with what is apparently his agency (YOUNited Management which has Dortmund connections).

I have no specific information about Meiser but while I agree that it's getting harder for players to "hide" I think we're still at a place where guys who were born abroad and have spent little/no time in the U.S. in their lives (especially if they have just one American parent) may not surface, so to speak, until roughly the point where YNTs could figure into the discussion, which in his case seems to be... now, given his age.

If a guy was born/raised in the U.S. and had moved abroad recently to join a European team, it might be a different story. (Maybe that's Meiser, I truly don't know.) I fairly regularly interact with overseas-based players or people linked with them who have U.S. connections/eligibility but haven't figured out how to connect with American soccer, generally speaking -- even if/when they come from what seem to be fairly soccer-savvy backgrounds.

That was cool to see. It just occurred to me that Tyler probably played with Cavan Sullivan in the just-concluded Kevin De Bruyne Cup.

Not quite sure if these players are simply spending the summer in Germany or something else, but these Yanks & Canadians are playing with Verl's youth squad for a bit:

In order to be prepared for Germany's A youth elite league, coach Daniel Fröhlich's team has been strengthened with five North American players from the USA and Canada.

Jamie, Christian, X, Tidiane and Keiquon - welcome to Verl!

Haven't looked closely into these guys but T'Markt has a few Europe-based guys it says are part-American:

Teodor Ilic (from what I can tell, this isn't Sasa Ilic's son, if you were wondering)
    https://www.transfermarkt.de/teodor-ilic/profil/spieler/925961

Torben Wormsbächer (from what I can tell, this isn't Hellmut Wormsbächer's son, if you were wondering)
    https://www.transfermarkt.de/torben-wormsbacher/profil/spieler/907757

Dor Moskowitz (from what I can tell, this is the son of someone whose surname is Moskowitz, if you were wondering)
