Here's a supposed American-born '02 named Jonathan Grot who has played in the Netherlands and is currently in the second division in Cyprus. Unfortunately when I've looked him up all I've found is T'Markt stuff and attempts to convince me that what I really was looking for is stuff about "Hamilton."

This might be a case of transposed names, but that's just a guess.

A number of sites suggest he's moved to the second team of ADO Den Haag, the first team of which plays in the second division. Always fun to type a sentence like that.

There is a lot more of this activity going on than perhaps people -- well, maybe not people who post in this thread -- realize. It's come up before, but there is no doubt that online sleuths are scouring sources for eligible players who might represent teams around the world.

I've had the pleasure of connecting with several of those sleuths and I figure some of them will read this post! (If you're such a person and we don't know each other, reach out and say hello. I'd love to exchange notes.)

@ChuckMe92 re-tweeted this one so it's worth keeping an eye on. There isn't much info on him on the club's site or elsewhere.

Lucas is a USA-born central defender Uruguayan father and Argentine mother. Makes life in the lower @LiverpoolFC1915

He lived his first 3 years in the United States before emigrating to Uruguay. Eligible for US, Argentina & Uruguay.

This Liverpool is in Uruguay's top tier.

Looks like this may be the same guy - appearing as Faris Abdelhaq.

He's listed with CD Marino of the Spanish fifth division by Transfermarkt, although it also says his contract expired on 6/30. He made 4 appearances with them last season when they were in the fourth division after joining from Cadiz's reserves.

Also found this write-up which gives more on his background.

Puerto Rican father would make him a citizen; don't know about USMNT eligible though. There doesn't seem to be much info out there on him.

I believe only PR citizens living in the USA can apply for USA citizenship.

Nope. All Puerto Ricans are US citizens (it's the only one they have). They can't vote in POTUS elections unless they are living in the US proper.

And don't have to pay US income tax until they come to the US proper.

There's a video on YouTube that seems to be imply he's been with the club for half a decade. When I see American guys playing in Europe with pretty much no digital footprint it's frequently the case that they're American by parentage only, with all or most of their lives spent elsewhere. Could be the case here.

Made his debut on 10/24 for Rukh Lviv with a start at center forward against FK Minaj in league play and was subbed off after 47 minutes when his team was down 1-0.

He was also on the bench for their cup match on 10/28 but not their last league match on 10/31.

And the info most pertinent to this thread is the caption for the above picture from an article on the official team site:

Дебютує у складі «Руху» Осазе Де Розаріо, який стає 109-м рухівцем, в тому числі, першим американським легіонером.

    Which Google translates to:

He made his Rukh debut with Osaze De Rosario, who became the 109th Rukh, including the first American legionnaire.

Also checked the team roster on the site, but he isn't listed yet. So while there's no confirmation on that front, American legionnaire from the team's own media department sounds encouraging,

Apologies for the double post (couldn't edit the previous one?), but just saw that the Ukrainian Premier League site also lists him as American. So yeah it's looking like he's probably good to go judging from that and the team site.

Osaze has a brother Adisa who is a GK with Toronto FC Academy. Seems to have been born in 2004 when Dwayne was playing for San Jose:
