I don't know whether it's that some clubs are relatively modest operations, or that people are just really bored and delighted to hear from anyone these days (if you're a journalist looking to interview someone right now, you gotta figure they'll pick up the phone) but here's to the clubs that, when you email them inquiring about a player, actually cc him on their response.
Today I learned that Kelsey Grammer has two sons with his current wife, Kayte Walsh, which makes the boys (and their sister) the grandchildren of accomplished English player and coach Alan Walsh. It also means that Grammer's brother-in-law is a guy named Phil Walsh who had a fairly long career in the English lower divisions. You're welcome.
And it will not surprise you to learn that Torquay United's Irish '95 Ruairi Keating has an American grandmother. His parents apparently lived in the U.S. for a short time as well. He seems to be related in some not-crazy-distant way to Ronan Keating from something called Boyzone.
Alan Walsh and Kelsey Grammer are like 18 months apart in age, so, high-five to Kelsey on marrying someone with daddy issues.
There was never official confirmation of '97 Christos Wheeler's supposed US eligibility, but he's now cap-tied to Cyprus after playing for them in Euro qualifying. (Not that he would have been good enough for the USMNT.) Transfermarkt lists him with US nationality. He probably is American, based on some social media digging done earlier in this thread.
Still learning what this site is all about, but https://www.lapreferente.com/ seems to have some interesting, Google-able stuff on players who have played in Spain. I'm not sure what it has about guys who have only trained in Spain, or who have mainly traveled there by plane.
It says the players who arrived in Spain by plane to train play mainly on the plain. edit: in the rain *ducks
A guy with this name apparently played the fall 2019 season, or at least one game of it, with a JuCo called Harry S. Truman. https://www.njcaa.org/sports/msoc/2019-20/div1/players/andreisuciuz1w3 He doesn't actually show up on that roster, if this is the same school, which it may be. https://citycollegesofchicagoathletics.com/sports/2019/8/23/TCMSOCROSTER2019.aspx?id=170& His T'Markt trail ends with a Greek team and seems to imply a season that ended midyear 2018. https://www.transfermarkt.us/andrei-suciu/profil/spieler/322048
This article mentions that Davide Bove's mother is from New York. https://www.tuttonovara.it/rassegna-stampa/gds-storie-di-provincia-all-olimpico-49966

Thanks for this. I spent some time trying to track this down a while ago but couldn't be certain, despite some strong clues. I'd say you've earned the right to start a thread!
Another great find that pins down something I couldn't. That article seems to be a write-through of this story, which I can't access but some important stuff is viewable. https://www.pressreader.com/italy/la-gazzetta-dello-sport/20190111/282175062264525 It mentions some kind of tryout at Lazio in January 2019. His Novara bio says his dream is to play for Milan. http://www.novaracalcio.com/player/davide-bove/ Well worth a thread for this one too!
Wikipedia says Jamaican '96 Maalique Foster is a naturalized American citizen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maalique_Foster I can't find a citation. T'Markt also lists him as a dual citizen. https://www.transfermarkt.de/maalique-foster/profil/spieler/563478 His agency doesn't mention U.S. citizenship. Of course, it's still possible. (Without knowing the timing of his naturalization, if any, I also couldn't say whether he's still theoretically eligible to play for the U.S.) http://www.panamcalcio.com/players/maalique-foster/
I find that one hard to believe unless he lived in the US as a kid. Looks like he played a few months for RGV and that's it for playing time in the US.
A young player named Jadon Gildersleeve who was listed on Ingolstadt's U17s this season is American, according to FuPa, which also says he's at Bayern Hof, so who knows. https://www.fupa.net/spieler/jadon-gildersleeve-1428228.html https://www.fcingolstadt.de/nachwuchs/jugendteams-20192020/u-17-bayernliga/ http://www.fussballn.de/sites/person/start.aspx?SK=4&Pers=257203
I'm sure there's a better way to search La Preferente, but... "estados unidos" site:https://www.lapreferente.com/ ... is a decent starting point. It does catch the occasional basketball player, however. And it's a lot of Marbella dudes. But it's also an interesting window into what seems to be a decent amount of back-and-forth movement between the U.S. and lower Spanish divisions that has gone pretty much unnoticed here.
How dare you imply we are not constantly scouring obscure databases for the random player with dubious US national credentials. You cad!
I wouldn't dream of it! What we're obviously not doing is posting threads about every single one of those guys. More's the pity.
Transfermarkt says Zuka/Zurab Bedoshvili with St. Pauli's U19s is American. https://www.transfermarkt.com/zuka-bedoshvili/profil/spieler/780618 I couldn't find a player profile for him on their website or any sort of confirmation of citizenship, only that he played high school soccer in New Jersey and for PDA's 01 ENCL team.
lol, I looked at Pauli U19's TM page like bunch of days ago and his name wasn't even there. Not only that but his name was never listed throughout the season either. How does that work that he signed in Winter? as a 01 he's no longer U19 eligible anyways.
