I am guessing you are misusing the word "fixed".

Fixed I mean tournaments like Superclásico de las Américas which happen every year between some "fixed" teams.

9 years ago today we hold the mighty Norway 1-1 in Oslo in Dunga's 1st ever game as tecnico. The sturdy Daniel Carvalho scoring for us. We have never beaten them...

Yeah I remember that 4-2 loss in Oslo back in 1997!! That was the only blemish on an almost perfect year!!

Yes, you will find that Marcio Santos played very little after that game!

And then you lost to Norway again during the 1998 world cup ... Norway seem to be a 'bogey' team for Brazil...

Quite - Junior Baiano bring an idiot giving a penalty away.

Only three countries have a positive record v Brazil: Holland, Hungary and Norway.

Ronaldo was arguably at his peak in 1997 (at 20-21). Somewhat sad

I never rated Junior Baiano too highly...

He alternated moments of composure with moments of horrendous blunders!! After WC'98 he never played for Brazil again, but the next year he won the Copa Lib with a Scolari led Palmeiras!!

Despite reaching the final Brazil never seemed to play that great during the 1998 world cup.. they looked quite unstable in defence with Baiano..
Baiano didnt seem like a popular choice...

Baiano was utter garbage. I don't know how we made it to a final with him in defense.

.. brazil surely had a better central defender than Baiano in 1998..? ..

From memory the options were Marcio Santos, Celio Silva, Goncalves, Antonio Carlos, Andre Cruz..... Geez any of them would have been better than Baiano. Can't recall if any of them missed out through injury

Yep...being a fan of brazilian football the 1998 brazil team were disappointing for me.. they were'nt that impressive throughout the tournament...
I expected Holland to beat them...
Didnt Baiano almost concede a penalty against the dutch as well ... ?

It seems that throughout world cup history Brazil could have fielded better teams.. for example Ademir at the 74 world cup , Falcao in 1978, Emerson Leao, Dinamite in 1982, etc etc

Every coach had a bias towards some players. In saying that, the 06 probably had the best 23 players called and was arguably the biggest dissapoinment out of all WC teams.

They got close but we have enjoyed a renaissance (!) beating them twice in the past couple of years

Correct. A mystery why Tele did not put on Roberto Dinamite for that donut in 1982 - Careca going down late injured was a sporting tragedy.

Quite - Ronaldinho Gaucho sucked (as the our America cousins say) badly - and then some.
