Having gone 1-6-0 thus far , is it finally time to start third-string Cody Pickett at quarterback? -G
Yikes! They're now 1-7-0. Can someone please go back in time and bring back Joe Montana or Steve Young... or even Jeff Garcia, for that matter? -G
It's not the players, it's the coach. Ericksen has now proven himself to be a loser and must go. A good coach would get much more out of the players.
How's Brandon Lloyd doing? I knew him from elementary/high school, but haven't been able to watch many 49'ers games.
In games he has not seen much of the ball though he had a nice 55 yard catch and run Sunday. Big prob is the O Line is junk without Newberry at center directing traffic. Too many inexperienced players that just don't know how to play together. No time for Rattay to get them the ball. Also, lacking TO, all the young guys get mugged because TO drew double and triple coverage and there was room for the other guys to operate. That is gone and so are the 49ers. Also heard Lloyd did not have the greatest work ethic in the world. Rumor has it Beasley got in his face a couple of weeks ago and things have improved somewhat. However, the '9ers are 12-15 players from even a .500 season. Gonna be a long time before your homie gets much pub.
And now they're 2-11-0. At least they won't set a new record for the lowest single-season win total in 49ers history, though they could still tie the current record (2-14-0, set both in 1978 and in 1979 ). Also, this game confirmed what was obvious for several weeks now: Maurice Hicks needs to replace Kevan Barlow as the starting running back. -G
As it stands now, yes. Though the 49ers and the Dolphins currently have the same record, the Dolphins defeated the Niners earlier in the season. Will Dennis Erickson still be the team's head coach to make that pick, though? -G
The San Francisco 49ers are now 2-13-0 so far this season. If they lose their season-finale next week in New England (which is very likely), then they'll have tied the 1978 and 1979 49ers for the worst single-season record in team history - and that includes the Niners' years in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC) in 1946-1949, as well as their National Football League (NFL) years in 1950-present. -G
Or at least the 49ers suck (for now). Or perhaps 2 years later, depending on whether you're counting from 1978 or from 1979 (though The Catch was made in January 1982, it was during the postseason for the 1981 regular season). -G
It's now official: by going 2-14-0, the 2004 San Francisco 49ers have tied both the 1978 and the 1979 San Francisco 49ers for the worst single-season record in franchise history. As many of you weren't even born yet the last time the Niners achieved this dubious distinction (damn, I'm old! ), this is probably a new Niner experience for you. However, I do remember the previous dark times, but never thought that they would ever return. -G
KNBR just reported that the Niners have fired Dennis Erickson; no word about Terry Donahue, but hopefully he's gone as well. You could tell Erickson wanted out of here...he sounded like he was going through the motions when he kept saying towards the end of the season, "I fully expect to be here next season...blah, blah, blah." Just last night, I told my wife that it's obvious he's just hanging in there until he gets fired, because he's under contract for two more years.
I heard that we can't get the #1 draft pick because of the salary cap, is this true? I also heard that York wouldn't be willing to sign a first round pick anyways.
