I really hate to be drawing these parallels here….to the pats. But, watching the game on video when I got home, its clear that even in the small pool, maximum parity confines of the MLS the revs were getting disrespected last night. yes, ty keough is an idiot. and yes, rob stone seems to be a much better sideline reporter than a play by play guy. there was still a definite bias towards the fire. even though they're consistently one of the more fouls caused teams and nowak, stoichkov, kovalenko, and razov….throw in marsch last night too, seem to be some of the more unsportsmanlike dissenting guys around….the majority of the doubt went to the fire. most of the fouls they caused were "just enough to draw whistle" and most of the revs were "a clear infraction". add to that, the "shock" that stone was sensing that the revs were actually winning this game and that the ever consistent fire weren't "playing well". why shocked!? the revs are 6-1-0 in last 7 and reasonably healthy. the fire are 1-0-4 in last 5 and are clearly hobbled. in a trimmed down league that has relative high parity, teams are going to get on runs. these teams are having totally opp runs right now that will probably carry thru the po's imo. There were a few "pro-revs" moments/comments...Hovever, it was just very frustrating the whole tape long for the most part (well, what's new watching ty?) i watch the pats too...if they follow their same path of winning thru disrespect as "the perpetual underdog"...fine with me.
Calling Keough an idiot just doesn't go nearly far enough. He is so stuffy and sour that he really detracts from the enjoyment of the game. Stone's frontal lobes may be caked with hair spray, but at least he appears to be enjoying himself, and he did finally give the Revs credit (I believe he said he had become a "believer" toward the end.) Ty doesn't just spew at the Revs, though. You remember in the Dallas-DCU match that eliminated DCU, the winning goal was struck by Martinez(?) - a long range shot that chipped Rimando? I thought that was a moment of genius in an all around great match; Keough, however, kept insisting that it was an errant cross even though there was no obvious target for the supposed cross. What a dork.
Re: Re: The official "Revolution disrespected by the media thread" I was thinking exactly the same thing! Ty has a soft spot (or maybe it would be more apt say "a hard spot") for exactly two teams: DC and Chicago. I'm fairly certain it has to do with their national team connections and the fact that he apparently has very little short-term memory. By the time he runs through his list of hyperbolic catch-phrases about the quality of these two teams, the game is half over. Then all he has to do is either explain how DC/Chi have been beset by injuries, or crow about correct he was in his initial assessment. I actually find him pretty funny (in a purely unintentional way) - when he's not doing a Revs game.
Paysee's all wet! If the lovely Ms. Veronica is going to be covered by foul weather gear, it defeats her whole purpose for being there. As for Ty, he has no real purpose.
'and choosing to be introduced as a team, the mls eastern conference champion new england revolution!'....how great would that be at mls cup?
