If Japan goes on to win, I wonder if their fans will go on to dismiss the win since it was the “worst Germany team of all time”?
Rather than weirdly obsess over height when all the best midfielders are midgets I would be interested to see how a country like japan has caught up so quickly. Their fitness especially seems a cut above concacaf teams
For sure. They showed exactly that you can indeed run a more “physically superior” team (i.e. taller), into the ground.
Another upset. Japan always plays with alot of energy and speed. Now we need Costa Rica to take care of Spain
Navas gives Costa Rica a chance. Much like Mexico, Spain can be frustrated when all the possession fails to yield goals.
I have for years said that Mexico needs to incorporate more “running” into their style. Mexico has “técnica” and if it adds running into their arsenal, we could see a different Mexico. I was once at the sidelines (touch lines) at a Mexico vs Netherlands U20 or U23 and that coach that was the DT when JJ Macías was in the squad (helped Piojo in 2014) - don’t know their name. I could hear him telling the players to make the Dutch “run” as if “running” was bad. I thought Mexico should have won that match but Mexico lost 3-2. I know it’s not for every matchup but have it as a resource
Love Japan's play style. Sure they're small but they hustle and play with a purpose. I wish MEX could replicate that.
Spain with too much quality to get bunkered by Costa Rica. When you can put away your opportunities you force these teams that sit back to play on your terms.
People said that Spain had no chance this World Cup. Spain is actually putting players in the forward position, whether they are actually forwards is a different story, but they can score now.
Fox crew bringing up Ferran Torres dating Enrique's daughter every chance they get and questioning whether he should be on the field on his merit is honestly kinda trashy
