Exactly! Stahre “won” the Wooden Spoon in 2018.

Reminder that MA has had this team playing better than they're playing now.

The problem is it's hard to sustain over the course of a season. If we end this season at around the playoff line we really haven't progressed.

If CL thought our results under Covelo were sustainable he should call off the search for a new coach and offer the full time position to Covelo.

Maybe one stretch - in 3 years! :)

We should wait until the end of the season to assess, as I've been saying. It's possible / likely that we would have had a hot streak sometime this season under Matias if he'd stayed with it and put the effort in. But the truly apples to apples assessment is not our finish in the standings but our PPG under Covelo, and where that would have put us in the standings. Otherwise Covelo gets unfairly dinged for Matias's 3 points in 8 games or whatever it was start. That's quite a hole to have to dig out from.

I don’t think this team has peaked yet. I predict they get better as the season progresses. PPG under Covelo will remain above playoff line. Only question is how significant the hole Matias dug.

Two tough road games coming up after SKC at home (and a 3rd in row - not quite as tough at RSL). There are going to be peaks and valleys like there always is. But if we can hold the course and continue to be strong at home and steal a few road wins we've got a chance to make the playoffs despite the "Matias hole".

We've been scoring goals without him and I think he's a bad fit for how the Quakes should be playing, so it wouldn't disappoint me. I have to assume no team is going to pay a transfer fee before his loan runs out though.

"Chofis is bad, and Almeyda kept playing him."
Uh, he was our leading scorer with 12 goals and had maybe the greatest hat trick in league history.

Wait, if Matias can pull in that guy how did we end up with Rios and not him???

Oh yeah - we shopped from the bottom of the MA's list.

I hope so... it will be fun to watch him fail with the players he actually wants.

Good news for him is that he is coaching a top 3-4 club, so they will likely win a lot. The bad news is that the team has high expectations and they will drop you in a minute if you don't meet them (based on recent history). So he'd better hope his FoM's do well.

But would he have failed here at all if he'd gotten his top-of-the-list players from the start?

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

you may find a Chivas fan or two who would beg to differ. He wasn't great for SJ, but what coach has been? not like there's a pattern in SJ or anything. :ROFLMAO:
