    Depth at fullback.

Maybe a starter at LB. Colvey is still shaky. Francis is better as a bench guy. Jordan Stewart was a wasted signing.

On the right side, Wynne's weaknesses are more apparent this year. Cato is somewhat out of position on the back line.

    I must be missing someone.

When he first came to Houston he was excellent as a rookie both defensively and going forward. I thought even future NT possibilities. Unfortunately he just dropped off to being awful. My take on this is it's worth the risk. He he recovers the potential he initially showed we got a gem. If not we're really no worse off.

This signing has to be the end of the road for Jordan Stewart, right?

With Wynne, Colvey, Sarkodie, Francis, Imperiale, Cato, Pelosi, etc. there's hardly any room for an expensive older fullback coming back from a serious injury...

You think now that they got Sarkodie, Stewart will be gone soon?

He's not older. Imperiale just isn't going to be a fullback and neither is Pelosi. This is just depth for right back, which is fine.

I was talking about Jordan Stewart, who is 34.

If they're dumping him, why did they sign him in the offseason?

This is OK as far as it goes, but we need central defenders.

Also, it kind of exposes our gross lack of foresight and inability plan farther ahead than next week. We're three games in and picking up another outside defender. We should have made such a move in the off-season.

And as several here have pointed out, we should have dumped Stewart in the off-season.

I think Sarkodie can be a good player, he's got the tools. Perhaps a change of venue will help get him back on track.

But this is one more sign that our team are run by idiots.

    Go Quakes!!

Solid signing...Nice depth at FB. Hopefully, Kofi regains the form he showed when he 1st entered MLS. I assume not a huge TAM cost.

Dom likes him...he probably knows him inside and out, so I think it will be a positive. We have added flexibility. I hope Francis is the one to go....hoping this doesn't mean Stew is done. If we added some quality depth at LB...that's probably not Sarkodie...but at some point over the next couple seasons, I'd love to see what Colvey could do at flank mid...he could be a faster version of Eddie Lewis...need to see how Colvey's D holds up...still a work in progress, especially on crosses...tracking crosses over his head to the weak side against LA was very wispy...first real uh-oh moments for him. I'm 100% in his corner to work through the rookie mistakes...I'm looking forward to seeing how Sarkodie looks with us.

Kofie Sarkodie, eh? I don't know, sounds like a Turkish dessert or something. Yes I'd like the scoop of ice cream on the side.

I guess they are waiving Nyassi and this is his spot, 'cause this year's sympathy signing of Stewart, like last year's sympathy signing of Lennie, will be a wasted spot.

For this weekend, he's using Mark Sherrod's roster spot, hence the loan.

like this one, felt we needed another body at outside back, and we got one with a guy who can get it done at right and left back, has familiarity with Dom.

Gonna guess he was out of contract but Houston held his rights and wasn't a free-agent? These rules are too confusing.

It says right in the article you linked. We signed him and traded TAM for him.

More defensive help is certainly not going to hurt. The team is in a weird position where they generally have more options with players than they can easily work out, even on the offensive side. Sarkodie can probably fill in any defensive position if needed, but it seems like it's an effort to make sure there is central defensive cover, either by having Sarkodie play in central defense, or letting Wynne slide in. Goodson has been out for two weeks now, Bernardez has done pretty well but there's always a chance he injures himself or runs into foul trouble.

Like others have said, this is probably a good-bye to Stewart, which is acceptable. The team may have misused their roster spot there, but they've had other expendable players on the roster, so all things considered, it's not something I'm too upset about, especially if they are least utilizing Stewart's experience as a teaching tool. I think he definitely has something to offer there. The team has enough players and I believe they are a genuinely talented group this year. Sarkodie hopefully adds a bit more depth. Last year's thin numbers at the back were worrisome, so this signing makes sense.
