Rice and veggies, veggies and noodles, lots of just veggies. I'm going to make lentil soup. Yumm. And lots of herbs and spices. Onions in almost everything, garlic, whatever your favorite herbs are, and hot stuff!! Chilies, hot paprika, fresh ground black pepper, cumin, turmeric, and whatever other hot stuff floats your boat.

I can't testify about cheese. I've been lactose intolerant since I was very young. Never been able to eat cheese, always hated milk. I miss ice cream. Not enough pills in the world for me to eat it anymore. But there's a great ice cream place nearby that makes several dairy free versions that are awesome!

    Good luck!!

Exactly. Lentil soup is so easy and you can add sweet potatoes or other veg and it's a nutritional powerhouse.

We drove over Pacheco Pass last weekend and stopped at our usual stand to get a basket of garlic. Which may be my favorite food, after coffee.

P.S. I don't normally use recipes, but I subscribe to a vegan email list and am going to try this one: https://www.noracooks.com/cauliflower-sweet-potato-curry-soup

I just made this yesterday, inspired by that photo and the fact that I had a giant zuchhini from my garden that I was looking to do something with. I think it came out OK except that I used some cheap Trader Joe's marinara that just kind of overpowered everything. The weird thing is that seems to be better the next day. If you eat it too soon after it comes out of the oven it seems like it hasn't really "set". You probably need to wait at least 1/2 an hour.

Cauliflower is an abomination in the sight of the Goddess. Just saying.

Actually, there's a genetic thing that to some people, cauliflower tastes really bitter. I'm one of those people. Can't stand the stuff, unless it's been simmered in curry for at least 30 minutes. Same with cucumbers. They are just pickles waiting to happen. Satan's food. Yuck!

But asparagus, artichokes, broccoli, peas, carrots, onions, garlic, spinach, parsley, and many, many more. Oh yeah. And all of the beans, of course.

    Have fun!!

I love cauliflower, go figure. The lentil stew will be fine without it though. I am allergic to bell peppers and many cucumbers (I've heard it's the seeds).

I am seriously lactose intolerant, but there are some good vegan ice cream places around here. For mass market, the best I've tried is Ben & Jerry's Phish Food.

I grow cauliflower in the winter and make soup out of it. I guess I have the “likes cauliflower” gene, and maybe an extra one for good measure.

Oh I have a few of those giant zucchinis. Did you follow that recipe or use your own?

Have you tried roasting cauliflower? The carmelization makes it sweet.

I followed a recipe, which I kind of regret now. I should have followed the one falvo linked to. I have more zuchhini so maybe I'll try a smaller batch with that recipe.

I grew zucchini one year, and only once. They grew from tiny to 3' long overnight and threatened to take over the whole house. There's only so much zucchini pizza, zucchini bread, zucchini cookies, and ratatouille that people will eat.

If you have a few items on hand, like olive oil, tomato sauce, onions, garlic, and spices, you can make pretty much any food taste good.

Ha, that's true about zucchini. It's almost like it's some kind of prehistoric super plant from the Mesozoic era where everything was massive and it fed giant brachiosaurus's and stuff. It grows incredibly fast, the leaves become the size of small dining room tables, and if you look closely you can actually see the fruit growing. Forget about a normal sized zucchini one day, the next day it's the size of a large watermelon. I think I planted just 2 from seed this year, and they nearly took over my whole garden. I've actually had to trim them back. If we ever have a nuclear holocaust I hope someone has saved some zucchini seeds to feed survivors when nothing else will grow.

    Lots of people like cauliflower
I have tried roasting it, but it still needs some serious sauce on top of it.

And, there are tons of other veggies that I love, so why bother?

If businesses want to maintain current profit margins and costs increase then prices must also increase. However, price elasticity dictates that raising prices generally results in lower demand which decreases sales. It's definitely a balancing act lots of people and companies get wrong, because coupled in with all of this is the fact that people at the low end of the pay scale will see discretionary income rise, leading to increased consumption. It's all very complicated and requires lots of big formulae with symbols and funny Greek letters to compute incorrectly...

It's allowed if we vote on it and approve it.

More liberal view (minimum wage can help reduce poverty over all):

More conservative view (minimum wage only helps a small fraction of people and will not help poverty):
