Brian Sciaretta: In the midst of a breakout season, Yueill aims big for Quakes & Olympic team It wasn't easy for Jackson Yeuill early in his career as San Jose struggled and lacked direction. But new manager Matias Almeyda has given him a lot of responsibility, and Yueill has been delivering in a breakout season. Now Yueill is aiming for a playoff spot - and a lead role on the U-23 Olympic team.

I have always thought he possesses a vision of the field of play that is extraordinary, and I think he will grow into a great national team player.
Would love to see McKennie and Yueill together in this match.... in a perfect world a Adams, Yueill, Mckennie midfiled would give us so much flexibility to compete against the worlds best. I am still looking to see what Yueill brings to the table against some of Europes best. HIs game fits matches like Mexico really well.
Jackson Yueill (8) — One could actually form an argument that the San Jose midfielder was the best US player in the first half. Yueill put on a passing clinic, repeatedly unlocking Cuba with long diagonals, splitting balls into zone 14, sneaky slip passes to the area... whatever the team needed. He even won some balls in midfield, but was more conservative after the break.
I think Jackson owes Almeyda quite a bit for turning him from a good college player into a great MLS/USMNT midfielder. We knew he had potential but he played exceptionally well this year under Matías. I think the credit should go both to the player and coach!
seeing what Yueill has become truly makes me wonder the talent lost with some of our other young players over the years. Alashe, Kovall, maybe even Garza.... okay, okay, okay, never ever ever Garza but still lol
Alashe and Kovall weren't as good as Jackson. Garza was too slow and the last I read he was playing in the NPSL at 29 years of age. Guess he is just playing for fun.

I thought it was an Under 23 competition? He is turning over 23 in 6 weeks so will he be one of the overage players?
Apparently so, which would then make it tougher for him to win a spot since there's only a limited amount of overage spots on the roster. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
