It's been said that while he lacks head coaching experience, he certainly has a presence. Nonetheless, it'll be important that whoever he hires as his main assistant be a strong x's and o's guy. However, it's also been said that Mark Jackson wasn't the Warriors' first choice. -G

From you hyperlink article. Out of that list, I would chosen Mark Jackson even though he lacks coaching experience. I loved him as a player and find him to be intelligent.

I would hate to give up Monta, but Iggie partnering Curry is intriguing, because they compliment each other better. Less excitement, less versatility on offense, but better defense and more toughness. Is the tradeoff worth it? I don't know if I'd want to pull the trigger on that, but if Jerry West is for it then maybe it's the right thing.
Is this where y'all hanging out? Would hate to lose Monta but I'll take Iggy. We all knew either Monta or Curry had to go. And now Dorrell Wright can play the 2. Iggy is so much better when he knows he's the main man and doesn't have to accommodate some other guy *cough cough Elton Brand*
So far from what I seen in this thread, it appears that Curry would be a better fit Iggy. Maybe it is wage or something, but what are the reasons to keep Curry instead of Monta?
For some reason I thought Iggy was bigger physically then he is. Curry and Ellis are both little guys who need the ball a lot. The difference is that Curry's ceiling is higher. He could be one of the elite point guards in the league. I think we've seen the best Ellis can get.
Monta's a gunner. Curry gets his points in the flow of the offense. By the way, I'm climbing aboard the Warriors bandwagon. Recently moved to the Bay and have never had a favorite NBA team, just loved the game. So... yeah. Go Warriors! F the Lakers!
It'll be interesting to see if the Warriors could pull off either this move or any other move before a potential NBA lockout arrives. -G
Any fellow Los Angeles [Redacted] hater is a welcome addition to the board. I think you should fit right in.
Wow. A new season Warriors thread... ALREADY. Just wanted to say hi as one of this board's few Sacramento Kings fans. Yes, we'll have to wait one more year to see if the W's eventually do become the only NBA team in NorCal, but our fans in the Valley will give this whole "build-an-arena" dealie one more shot. Don't expect a flood of ex-Kings fans at Oracle if the Kings do end up moving after all. A lot of Sacramentans may have been Warriors fans back in the day... but I'm guessing it would take a championship run like the Giants last year - a NorCal-region unifying run (that got even my A's fan brother-in-law temporarily on the orange & black bandwagon) to get Valley folks interested in the W's again. I do read up on the Warriors, and I think it's cool that Mark Jackson has you guys aiming for the playoffs next season. I wish we had a coach in Sac even willing to talk about that possibility...
Yeah, I know. I think Lacob's going to be a good owner, which is part of the reason I was willing climb on board. Can someone give me a run-down as to how we feel about the roster? Obviously I love Curry and am not high on Ellis. Lee was great last year until he got bitten by one of the zombies from the Walking Dead, but was he any more effective defensively than he had been in NY? Biedrins and Wright I could see being the first big and first swingman off the bench on a good teams, but I don't reckon they're starter material for 50+ win clubs. And how'd Udoh do?
Great Scotts! I thought I was the only Kings fan here. Welcome aboard. I'm again setting the bar really low this season though our run since the acquisition of MT23 has me a bit optimistic of potential success.
Udoh was alright but I felt like he was another in a long line of undersized tweeners that the W's seem to specialize in drafting. Maybe he can bulk up. Lee was not great defensively but nobody was in the paint, save Biedrins on occasion. But Andris isn't the healthiest of guys. As always, we could use some size down there. Udoh actually led the team in blocks per game. I really like Dorrell Wright and Reggie Williams. They can stay. Everyone else (besides Curry) could be trade bait. Personally, I'd love to see Jeremy "Ivy League Jet" Lin become a regular bench player.
