Each of the 3 parts had something of interest. Here is the whole thing (the original which was split into 3 parts) in one link:
Hi Guys! Thanks for the nice things about the videos! Check us out and subscribe! We are newer media outlet for the San Jose Earthquakes that's a little more on the relaxed side. Check out our Interviews with Eric Calvillo especially the one after playoff loss. Lots of good insight there. Cheers! -Favi
@TectonicTakes Finally listened to the full interview on my last couple of runs. Really enjoyed it. One thing I don't agree with him on is his statement that the poor team chemistry under Stahre was ultimately on the players. I would say, no, it was mostly the same players who have great chemistry under Almeyda. I think it's ultimately the coach's responsibility to build a good locker room. The Quakes didn't purposely go out and sign "bad chemistry" players. If anything I think they tend to avoid the prima donna / difficult types. So it was on Stahre to get it done, just as it's on Almeyda. The team has great chemistry under Almeyda and it had terrible chemistry under Stahre. There should be no question where the responsibility ultimately lies. The other thing is that I wished you would have held his feet to the fire a bit on these kinds of statements he made in an interview midseason in 2019. In retrospect I wish I would have made that request in your call for questions. “Obviously, we bought players but the others did their homework, as well,” he added. “Obviously, we could have some more points but, all in all, realistically, we don’t have a roster to compete for the playoffs.” I love Flo - I'm a big Flo supporter, and don't mind his criticisms of the team as playing like "youth soccer players". That is more of a "let's go guys, let's get it together". But this is something altogether different. It's a kind of waving of the white flag. It's being in the foxhole with your teammates and saying, "Guys, it's no use, we're just not good enough". I don't care if you believe it or not, you should never say publicly or to your teammates that you don't believe in them. It's one thing for the fans to say it. But I don't think you should ever say it to your teammates, either directly or indirectly thru the press.
Thanks for listening, there is a possibility of him coming back on! I will bring it back up again with some follow up questions! Thanks for watching! Share it with any Quakes fans you know.
what a play to save a sure goal and bail out his goalie! Flo doesn't get enough credit. He's our best defender, has been since Muma left.
Yeah and I loved his celebration. He screws up occasionally but plays with such psssion. I’m always happy to see him in the starting lineup.
Jungwirth does screw up sometimes but who doesn't? I think Bernardez had a better physical presence and was better going forward. Too bad he had to get old otherwise he will have done well under Almeyda.... Flo is curranty the best we have in the back. He had a good game against DCU!
his job is going to get tougher in the coming weeks, but he will be in there giving 100%, battling hard in every game, I'm sure of that. that's what you get with Flo.
I don't think it's baloney. I've seen it reported by a few folks on twitter. We may have needed to do it to 1) stay under the cap, and/or 2) free up a senior roster spot (though I think Jeff Adams has pointed out that we could use Calvillo's spot for that - thru a loan). I think #1 is more likely. You just can't add $690k to your payroll w/o affecting the team salary as it relates to the cap. This is why you don't evaluate a GM on the basis of one transaction.
Well, that's enough internet for today. #Quakes74 will receive $200,000 in GAM and up to $100,000 in additional GAM in conditional GAM from #VWFC in exchange for Jungwirth. https://t.co/obHN7GqhRP— Manuel Veth (@ManuelVeth) August 6, 2021
It is looking like it could be true. Almeyda hadn’t really hadn’t utilized Jungwirth since Nathan arrived. He played him the last two games to showcase him before the trade to Vancouver. That’s a typical thing coaches do when they are trying to offload players. Play them today and trade them tomorrow.
