He definitely seems like a gregarious and talkative dude. Seems like a solid guy to have in the locker room.
Works for me, and I don’t even have an instagram account. If you don’t either it will try to get you to download the app but if you click “continue on web” you’ll get the video. It’s just DJ saying bye to his team, making a little speech.
Pretty good for a first run out against the ForestKillers. The more he plays and practices, the better he’ll fit in. Nice effort. Go Quakesfans!!
I think the announcers said something like Bruce was looking for something a little different when he signed DJ. I forget the phrases they used but it was something like he wanted a difference maker and not just another depth player. Think about players like Marie and Skahan - good hustle players but don't necessarily offer anything unique in the attack (though Marie has a pretty wicked shot from distance). DJ can back guys up because they know he can go around them if they're not careful. Salinas was like that too. And Cade. The Quakes don't really have anyone else who can do that. Ricketts sometimes, but I don't think he has the footwork that DJ has. Maybe Timo to some extent but I don't think Timo has the speed that he used to have.
DJ media availability session. Pathetically, seems like just one reporter showed up (the ever-present Paula Maruri(sp?)). And then a few questions called in, and a few just mailed in. Takeaways: He was out to impress in our game with Phoenix. He knew it was a chance to move up, especially knowing Shalrie. He's stoked to be playing Timo - he's from Chelsea and a huge Chelsea fan, and Timo was with Chelsea when they won Champions League. He got started playing for a "YouTube club" - not sure what that is but a club that exists to put out videos to drum up interest from clubs? Anyone know what this is? He had a trial with Chelsea but was uanble to sign due to a transfer ban Chelsea was having at the time. Then he went to play in The Netherlands, but referred to having injury problems while there. He obviously really enjoyed his time in Phoenix but admitted the weather is tough in the summer and he's enjoying the weather here.
