"-inho" is a suffix often added to Portuguese names in the way that English names get a y added at the end. (Johnny, Tommy, etc.) That's why you see some one-named Brazilian soccer stars with names like Ronaldinho or Juninho. So the nickname Waibelinho signifies that Waibel plays like a Brazilian.

But they usually "inho-ize" the first name. So he'd be "Craiginho". Plays like a Brazilian, walks like an Egyptian (oh, sorry, wrong thread).

I've been advised it should be craigYinho. What does an Egyptian walk like? Are you thinking of mummies, as in the "Return of the" ? :)

Adding -inho (pronounced "een-yo") to names is a running gag in soccer. I understand that at one time, Jeff Agoos was so bad at taking shots on goal, frequently sending it high into the stands instead of into the net, that he was called "mezzaninho." I guess that name belongs to Corralles now, huh?

You know he was probably having thoughts of kicking his ever-lovin butt right about then. "Now, If I were to turn my wrist to the right, and pull his arm in, I could probably kick my left leg up, wrap it around his neck, and SNAP!..." :D
    I luv Craigy!

Waibelninho needs to stop by at our tailgates again--if he's serving a red card he's welcome to have a brew with us.

Now that Waibel won't be playing for a while, who's your favorite currently-active Quake?

Interestingly, he's seemed to come up a bit lame late in the last three games or so. I wonder if he has an incipient hamstring problem again? :(

Waibel may not be the best player in MLS, but hes probably my favorite. Such a shame that he got hurt, but he will be back!
