You'd think Chris Letich was the second born Alexi Lalas depending on some of the folks here.

Looking back, I'm starting to believe that it was Fisher who wouldn't let either Doyle or Fioranelli succeed as GM's....

Fioranelli did it to himself and doomed himself with Mikael Starhe.

John Doyle I will believe. Doyle was a major factor in 2004-2005, he was a big factor in Wondo's return to the Bay, He also was a factor in getting Alan Gordon, Lenhart, Bernardez, Goodsen, Beitashour, Morrow, etc.

It was Fisher who probably didn't allow Doyle to resign people because of $$

I would 1000% believe it. We should have had Doyle/Dom since day 1 in 2008. Not Frankl.

Kinnear and Doyle were best friends.

They probably could have built the team better than Frank and John.

As that point in 2008 though, Dom was succeeding.

He came off was in 3 consecutive winning seasons with the Quakes Supporters Shiel in 2005, and two consecutive MLS Cup wins in 2006 & 2007.

He then made two runner ups.

I do remember most agents hated negotiating with John and how he kept saying they simply couldn’t afford certain players.

It still all goes back to Fisher though and I don’t foresee much improvement this year either.

11th is right for Lalas. Oddly he was also most accessible. He liked to hang out on the upper bleacher above the Casbah section. I talked to him several times up there, very approachable. He was also GM during ‘05 which was an incredible season on the field. Of course we all know they were scheming and plotting behind the scenes and it all ended very badly.

Because Doyle and Fioranelli have had so much success elsewhere?
Two guys who literally can't get jobs with professional teams?

To be fair, Doyle had a shot to go to LA with Sigi and Dom, but Doyle wont leave SJ. Same reason he didnt go to Houston in 2006.

Oof! Glad to hear that Jesse has a gig with AC Milan. He is a good guy and he is probably happy there, whatever he's doing. Hopefully not janitorial work!

Yeah my cousin, who is a big time AC Milan fan, told me Jesse Fioranelli is living in Switzerland and commuting to Milan working on coach Stefano Pioli’s staff.

Not sure what he does exactly but he told me he works “nell’aria tecnica”….basically another BS job.

Doyle was making money as Director of the Mustangs Youth organization in those years.

I believe he held that same gig until well after he was fired as Quakes GM.

His wife once told a friend of mine it wasn't much work but he was in fact getting paid a decent salary by the Mustangs.

I think he also had soccer camps going on so that is probably why he didn’t want to go to Houston to be Dom's assistant.

I also heard Kinnear hated living in Houston, which was probably another reason on why John didn’t want to leave the Bay Area.

Many players, Brian Ching in particular hated going to Houston as well.

As for Jesse Fioranelli at Milan, he may be on their payroll and probably works for them but at some lower level job.

I don't see his name on their official website

Too complex to wire this so it won't get over the finish line.

I would have Leitch below Doyle in 6th. If this season doesn't work out, he may tie the current #6.

Plenty of time for Leitch to add players before the primary transfer window closes on April 23rd.

C'mom Chris, we need that franchise DP and a few U22's before we find ourselves in a deep early season hole! o_O

Quakes are already in a deep early season hole, so the timing no longer matters.

Not all deep holes are equally deep! That’s the “hope” we are left with.
