Bruce got some more money out of the Kraftholes, but he also got a bit lucky that his signings all worked out, and he may have gotten some slack from the referees. We've been called for a lot of questionable PK's. That might end, or at least be reduced with Bruce on the sidelines. Still, I don't think that Bruce is going to get a lot of money out of Fisher. Fisher is a penny pincher (at least when it comes to the Quakes). So we can't expect to be one of the top ten spenders in the league. AND because Fisher is spending a lot on Bruce and Bruce's posse, we can expect budget cuts elsewhere within the organization. This is why I really don't want Bruce to be our coach. Fisher will find a place to cut the budget and he will cut it. A less expensive coach means more money for other expenses, like players, analytics, youth development, scouts, and so on. Mark my words, this is not going to pan out well. We'll be better in '25, and then we'll turn to crap. Go Quakesfans!!
Well that was interesting. They touched on some of the points we've been talking about. They lauded Curtin for youth development and said that you have to be willing to play your kids even if it might hurt you a bit in the short term, and specifically called out the Quakes as a team that is not good at doing that. They also said that Bruce doesn't have quite that reputation but did develop some young players and also talked about his role in building out the academies in NE and LA. A few other things: They poked a little fun at Quakes fans, based on wherever they were looking on social media, for being sour on the Bruce hiring (some fans, not all). They thought Bruce was about the best thing for the club. They also made the point that the ownership needs to believe that they will be getting bang for the buck on the larger new signings, and that Bruce has a good track record on this. They said that he acquired a few key guys (Bou and someone else) very soon after he was hired at NE. They speculated that some of the infrastructure improvements to the facility, etc. might be a result of promises to Bruce. I think that's pretty questionable since they've already announced them? I would think that they'd have to have already been in the works? Humphrey Bogert mentioned that we've used up our DPs, but we have 3 U22 slots, and that we could possibly transfer Gruezo (yes please) to free up one more slot. Not news to us but the other thought we had 2 open DP slots or something. ♂️
When it happened, they were wasn't a lot of details made public, but it was around a toxic workplace (one of his assistants filed the compliant against him). Generally, he has been well respected by his players.

I’m curious who will be his assistants. One of the keys to his success is having the right support team. Clearly Richie Williams isn’t coming.
Ralston played for Bruce on USMNT. Wouldn't be surprised if he stays. He's like the Quakes cockroach coach. No matter what nuclear holocaust descends on the Quakes coaching staff, Steve Ralston is still there.
He went from being a successful college coach at Virginia to winning MLS Cups at DCU, then to the USMNT and then to LAG where he also won. I’m sure he demands a lot as he comes from a different era.
Leitch will be fired at some point if Onalfo wants to come over. I wouldnt be surprised if Onalfo coaches with Arena again.
As long as he doesn’t ever become our head coach. In his last 2 head coaching jobs he was fired midseason in first season, after going 3-12-3 with DC in 2010, and 6-9-4 with LAG in 2017.
So with Arena's hiring, I seriously doubt he will report to anyone other than Fisher. Is Leitch is just going to be hanging around like a 3rd GK on the bench?
He’s going to be doing pretty much everything he was doing before except making the decisions about the roster. Bruce is not going to be going thru the process of signing players. He’s just going to be telling CL who to sign or try to sign.
