Which could prove very fortuitous for us if Matías Almeyda ends up landing a national team job and leaves sometime In the middle of his tenure here. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Not necessarily, and that might be a condition of his escape clause. "You have to leave one of your assistants behind so that we can keep on playing the same way." Or maybe we insisted on putting an assistant on his staff who will stay with us should he leave. We'd be foolish not to implement some plan whereby, should Almeyda leave, we get to keep one of the assistant coaches to maintain continuity. Go Quakes!! - Mark
No, it's more like the "Official We Really Hope that Matías Stay, But If He Bails On Us ..." thread. Go Quakes!! Stay Matías!! - Mark
If we had to make an educated guess... “I’m very happy because I won’t go anywhere without them. I would never go to a new team alone or with just one or two of them. This is not my job alone. My job will always be with them.” --Matias Almeyda Sure "not necessarily" but in terms of probabilities, do you really think Benjamin Galindo would rather be the head coach of the Quakes than (since we already know the details of Almeyda's release clause) assistant coach of the Mexican or Argentinian national teams? Dude has 65 caps for El Tri and has been coaching throughout Mexico for the last two decades. Argentina is Argentina.

Galindo explains how he and Almeyda joined the Quakes. In Spanish but select the english cc to have it auto translated. Translation is a little rough though.
Galindo spoke very well about the league. He said the language barrier isn’t really an obstacle which is goof but from what I gathered it could be an issue because the translator has to transmit what they say. He said many of the players speak Spanish and that he and Almeyda are taking intense English classes.
