Well heres some news on one of the original wonderkids. Seems Rostyn Griffiths will be united with fellow aussie Eric Paartalu at Gretna, atleast for the time being..... Interesting that he's still only 19 years old
Thanks for that Hmm not sure about the Wales news with him. I know he still has YET to be capped by the Welsh Senior Team. So that progression has slowed marketly from about 18+ months ago. But that's obviously due to him not getting first team football at club level. Good to see him finally loaned out. And the fact a 19 year old has had his contract renewed till he will be 21, I guess that's a positive sign. They tend to release academy, ex academy/reserve players at around 19-20 years of age. So he's made it through that period, for time being. He may still need to premanently move clubs, to the championship or something, to actually have a chance of regular first team action. I still wish they'd loan Troisi out to Roda JC, or somewhere in Holland's Eredivise, till the rest of the season. Instead of him rotting on the Newcastle bench!
Though I have already mentioned this in James Troisi's thread here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=444241&page=3 I will just warn here aswell. The Wikipedia entry of the brightest of our brightest prospects in under serious threat of deletion . Please, visit his Wikipedia entry and plead for them to keep his page. He's only weeks away from first team football. And given his impact with the Olyroos and he being soo close to Senior NT selection for the recent World Cup Qualifier, first team football at any level, is surely just around the corner. This is such a minor technicality for a player who we know may even play for our National Team as soon as the China World Cup Qualifier in March. Please, push the case to keep his Wiki! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Troisi
Will be a new instalment coming shortly, obviously with a bit more of an A-League flavour, but still highlighting some overseas ones, will try not to repeat any, unless needing too.
Unreal!! This threads probably been the most fun to read of the lot... Great to hear the legacy will continue!!
Aussie teenager Brad Inman was outstanding on debut for Newcastle United U18s in their 0-0 draw with Liverpool this week. Inman, 16, was played in central midfield and sparked the majority of Newcastle's best moves against Liverpool's international engineroom. Hadn't heard of this kid before, but sounds like he has made a good start at the Newcastle U18s.
Cool and welcome back . BTW It's been over 18 months since your original post, with the initial list of players. Would you be able to do a 'Where are they now' or more a 'Progress Report' on that particular group of players? Obviously some have progressed alot more, so we hear alot more, than some of the others. Some have progressed more than we may've assumed, while others have not progressed at the rate one would've expected. Anyway would be interesting to see that 'Progress Report,' before you cover 'The Next Batch' or what have you, please?
Some players to look out for: - Dean Bouzanis (Liverpool) - Andreas Govas (Portsmouth) - Brad Inman (Newcastle United) - Chris Herd (Aston Villa on loan to Port Vale) - Oliver Bozanic (Reading) - Danny Ireland (Coventry City) - Brent Griffiths (Blackburn Rovers) - Michael McEntagert (Everton) - Rocco Visconte (Hearts)
Aren't the Ryan and Dylan Mcgowan at Hearts as well. One of 'em was on the fringes of the first team not too long ago (played in friendly against Barcalona iirc). I dont think either have made league or cup debuts though.
a 16 y.o midfielder from Melbourne has been scouted by Birmingham, Coventry, Liverpool and Bristol City. He has been offered trials with all four of them from March 20 to April 20th.
Sorry Sarkiesfan, but we will need some kind of reasonably reliable and alternative source, to back up your claims. But yeah, maybe an article will come in time, when/if he actually signs a youth contract with an EPL club.
Maybe our latest wonderkid!! http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,23362463-23215,00.html BTW any news on the new thread EPL4Life??
Wow, but like Rhain Davis and others, I hope this kid still feels a loyalty to Australia, an urge to play for us, if this potential turns into substance, in 15 years. Kids leaving this young though, he'll be a Slovak or Italian citizen by the time he's a teenager. He may not even remember Australia, by then .
Sorry, but that is farking rediculous - his father is a joke. At 6 y.o he should be running around with schoolfriends at training, not being taken to the other side of the world.
