I wonder if he'll engender as much controversy as our other Argentinian...

At any rate, at least he doesn't seem to have an injury-riddled past.

I know people are wondering if hes another Renato, but there is a world of difference for me between Saprissa and the 2nd division of Portugal. Saprissa has historically competed very well vs. MLS teams, if he can start for them I dont see why he wouldnt be able to fit into an MLS team.

Yes, because defense has been a problem position for us last season oh no wait it's not.

I'd prefer someone two or three years younger, but hey, he's only 29!

I've been agitating for some time that we look to Saprissa and Alejuelense for players. We can afford their guys and they have lots of good guys. Indeed, I'd rather we partnered with one of these two (or some other top level Central American Club) than either Tottenham (can't afford their players) or La Cieba (they suck). So I hope this is a move in the right direction.

Defense was a problem for us last year. ALL of our starting defenders are old. We should have cut Muma and Stewart this off season, but we're stupidly attached to older players. We need for this guy to be able to start, because he's going to get a lot of starts, what with injuries (and longer recovery times) and suspensions (Muma is a hothead).

    Go Quakes!!

Hopefully he really is versatile enough to go from centerback to fullback. Pleased with this pickup, especially as it provides depth instead of just filling a glaring hole.

Well I'm pleased they're trying someone new mostly because Muma is so past it. But left back is an obvious weakness.

Could Fatai be a regular center back for us?

You all missed the most important fact: He is from Rosario, which is also where a certain other Argentine is from! (If you don't know who I mean, look to the left.)

That other guy from Rosario is a crap CB though... we should have signed a defender from Mascherano's hometown instead. :(

All else aside, Andres Imperiale is a kick-ass name.

How do you describe the Quakes of San Jose in United States of Amerikwa? Imperiale? Innocent? Wondoful? They could be Good, son and Wynne out. Marc my words, they might be Fatal. Ok, the last one is pushing it. Lighten up, Francis.

Renato was really solid his first several games with us. In his last game he was bad, but he'd not played with the first team in months. We don't need huge bruising defenders. We need smart defenders, dudes with some pace, and guys who play cleanly. Size is nice, but avoiding yellow cards is really important.

    ¡Bienvenido Andrés!
