Oh well, Colombia gave them all they could handle but didn't quite get it done. I was thinking that it was probably going to come down to one moment of quality from Argentina even though Colombia "out-physicalled" them all game.

Maybe shooting up(?) Messi’s ankle after he injured it in the 1st half so that he can’t feel pain, and sending him out in the 2nd half was not the best idea. Oh well, MLS marketing team is going to have to grudgingly turn their attention now to the other players in the league.
This pisses me off. People are blaming the US, claiming that this shows WC26 will be a disaster. That's utter nonsense. CONMEBOL failed to specify an appropriate level of security for the venues. WC94 and WWC99 were bigger events and were utterly smooth because FIFA knows how to organize, if nothing else. This was a money grab by the SA federation.
Same thing happened a few years back at Wembley: https://media.netflix.com/en/only-on-netflix/81665042
I highly recommend that film -- I thought The Final: Attack on Wembley had the tension of a horror movie.
Reading that article, the situation was in some ways a little worse than Wembley, since ticketed fans ended up not getting into the stadium at all. But one thing that's similar is that in both cases, once crushing started to happen at the turnstiles, security let everyone through to prevent injury.
Well if there's any good news about what happened in Miami it's that no one got hurt(?), and that hopefully we'll be prepared for these kinds of scenarios at WC26.
Colombian soccer federation president arrested after chaotic Copa America final at Hard Rock Stadium https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/ne...otic-copa-america-final-at-hard-rock-stadium/
Embedded in the story is a link to another about the French Federation filing a complaint about a racist chant among the Argentine players targeting Mbappe and other black French players. Doubtless that will be downplayed here in Messi-medialand.
There is video that is readily available, Messi was not involved, seems like he and some others weren't on the bus. The clown from Chelsea is definitely in some hot water though. Their racist fans might not care but he's not going to be popular in that locker room
You , in thinking it over more, what exactly will change with a high profile , big name coach? I understand unlike most national teams who play 5-7 games a year, the usmnt is a lot different where they usually play 15-20 games. Still the majority of those games are for trying out different formations and players. Since at least 2000, I’ve rarely seen the same starting lineup twice. I’ve also hardly ever seen the same core group of players playing in both exhibition games and a given tournament. I just don’t think a coach will magically change much because without talented players scoring goals, getting into a second round and further will be almost an impossibility.
