They want 3+ years relevant experience, with a Bachelor's degree, for an "entry level job."

Should be easy earning commissions marketing the Quakes. :)

I think commisions translates to: "Extra cash selling crap you swipe from the office and locker room on eBay..."

I just received an email from the Quakes about upcoming events, which included this:

    "SUPPORT SJ STEMROLLERS

Support San Jose Steamrollers Battle of the Bay Tournament at Bascom Community Center this Saturday and Sunday. The Quakes Foundation partners with the Steamrollers, the premier Power Soccer team in our community."

"Stemroller" - hmmmm, insert joke here ....

Just rely on UXO Stadium... It will never be wrong.

Except, it is wrong, technically. The ordnance found there were all dummy shells, there were no live shells in danger of "exploding".

Yes, the shells were inert, but what about that water table, wink wink, nudge nudge - Hide that remediation equipment in in a non-descript bunker on the Newhall side of the stadium...

Interesting to compare this to the Stahre days. Luchi communicating in both English and Spanish looked seamless.

That's a big plus. I'm not sure Stahre could always even communicate to the native English speakers - he had a strong accent and he didn't seem very clear sometimes in terms of what he wanted. I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen behind the scenes with Luchi. When I first saw a few clips of him being interviewed, he seemed a little low energy and his message seemed a bit cliche-ridden. But in these locker room videos he comes across strong and clear, and in 2 languages.

That's one thing that bugged me about Ralston too - when addressing the team he spoke super fast English like it's a room full of Americans - the non-native English speakers don't have a chance. Know your audience. If you're not bilingual, at least speak more slowly and clearly, emphasize key words, etc. to give guys a chance.

I wish Jackson would learn some Spanish to interject into his team exhortations as captain. If TT can do it....

Everything bugs you when its not your way or what you want.

Jackson no necesita aprender espanol para ser un jugador de soccer funcional en Estados Unidos. Tambien sabe algo de espanol basico para desenvolverse en el campo. Sabes algo de espanol basico, idiota sin usar AI o traductor?

I assume the Brazilians can all understand Spanish?

According to falvo they can. Not sure though... I would guess at least that they understand the Spanish more than they do the English.

When I visited Brazil (Copa Cabana and Sao Paulo) everyone I ran into spoke Spanish as well as Portuguese. My buddy (the dude who lived in a TeePee and was in the Peace Corps in Uruguay), speaks fluent Spanish and he did most of our communicating.

I didn't spend much time there, plus it was a long time ago... so I can't really say. I do know I that when I stepped off the curb in the financial district, drivers gunned for me :\

Best experience of that trip was seeing Fluminense play Flamingo at Maracana with about 200K people. This was the early 90s and 1/2 of the Brazil nats played on each club. Crazy fun experience.
