Since our final two friendlies are over, our WC squad should be at least 90% complete (At least that's the way I see it with Bento). Lee Kang-in's chances aren't looking good, but I really do hope he gets the nod and utilized at the WC, it would be such waste for him to not go at all. By the way, only our domestic players will be at the ceremony before heading off to Qatar in early November, while our foreign based players will join up in Qatar shortly afterwards.
Final 23 prediction: GK: Kim Seung-gyu, Cho Hyun-woo, Song Bum-keun DF: Kim Moon-hwan, Lee Yong, Kim Min-jae, Kim Young-gwon, Kwon Kyung-won, Kim Jin-su, Hong Chul. MF: Hwang In-beom, Paik Seung-ho, Jung Woo-young, Son Jun-ho, Kwon Chang-hoon, Lee Jae-sung, Hwang Hee-chan, Son Heung-min, Lee Kang-in, Na Sang-ho, Jeong Woo-young FW: Hwang Ui-jo, Cho Gue-sung This is purely based off of what I think Bento has in mind. I however would love to see Yoon Jong-gyu get selected.
KFA again showed their incapability and incompetency. Japan did two friendlies in Germany + they already have one scheduled in Qatar in November. And.. we have nothing in Oct/Nov.
Bento to announce the final 26-man WC squad on November 12. Our domestic based players will fly out on the 14th while the foreign based players will meet up with the team in Qatar.
South Korea will probably play a last game in November some days before the World Cup, but their future opponent is not known yet.
Yes, we're scheduled to have our final friendly in November at home before heading off to Qatar. Do note that this friendly will only feature our domestic players as our foreign based players will be unavailable due to their respective league schedule. They will join up with the rest of the team in Qatar shortly. Also, given that we have yet to announce the opposition, we'll likely go with a European team in favor of Portugal considering we've already faced South American and African teams in June and September respectively.
why didn't your federation make a match around november 17th, so you could have a last friendly match with your European players. For example, Japan chose November 17 to play against Canada, so we can play with all our players.
Well, unlike your FA ours is incompetent as @LeeSeungWoo posted above, and there's a good reason why the the manager's position is dubbed 'The Poisoned Chalice', simply because managers always get sacked thus not lasting for more than a year or two, and that's because the kfa has been run a 2 bit mafia style for as long as any knt fans can remember without any substantial changes. The only changes made within the KFA are very few/minor, that being either the president, vp, or technical director, with the occasional inclusion of useless roles that we don't really benefit from. Oh, our emblem did change as of 2020 lol. With that being said, the so called changes aren't really changes but what you would call "cutting off the tail" or better yet "musical chairs" i.e. technical director resigns taking full responsibility (Or so he says), but then shifts to a different position like the vp position (Yes, this really happened with our current technical director Lee Yong-soo, whom went from resigning as the technical director only to move on to being the vp of the kfa). I know you guys also have complaints about the jfa, but imo they still do a much better job at running the fa than ours ever will. So far the jfa managed to hire decent managers while they kept their contract length of 4 years (Except Javier Aguirre and Vahid Halilhodzic; Osim is an exception), and you guys don't necessarily complain about the budget either. Not to mention the preparation process for each respective tournaments taken pretty well also, from arranging friendlies (i.e. selecting teams and venues, the time frame and number of matches being made), to the amount of budget that's being poured into help preparing the team.
Chinese media reporting that Son Jun-ho has been included to the WC squad, adding that the KFA notified Shandong of his inclusion.
Although the opposition for next month's Home friendly on the 11th is yet to be announced, the KFA is working to book a friendly vs a European team. EDIT: Squad to be announced on the 21st followed by team training at Paju NFC on the 28th.
I am sure it must be a B-squad from an UEFA-affiliated country who already failed to qualify for the WC 2022 finals given that KFA is back to what we've known for its incompetency.
Well, since it's not on a Fifa date, that's the likely scenario. Either way, even if we end up facing a European team that qualified for the WC, they won't be able to field an A- team.
KNT Squad for the November friendly. Since the match will be played on non-FIFA date, the players called up are mostly K-Leaguers. GK Kim Seung-kyu (Al Shabab) Jo Hyeon-woo (Ulsan Hyundai) Song Bum-keun (Jeonbuk Hyundai) Gu Sung-yun (N/A) DF Kim Young-kwon (Ulsan Hyundai) Kim Tae-hwan (Ulsan Hyundai) Kwon Kyoung-won (Gamba Osaka) Cho Yu-min (Daejeon Hana Citizen) Park Ji-soo (Gimcheon Sangmu) Lee Sang-min (FC Seoul) Yoon Jong-gye (FC Seoul) Kim Moon-hwan (Jeonbuk Hyundai) Kim Jin-soo (Jeonbyk Hyundai) Hong Chul (Daegu FC) Park Min-gyu (Suwon FC) MF Jung Woo-young (Al Sadd) Paik Seung-ho (Jeonbuk Hyundai) Kim Jin-gyu (Jeonbuk Hyundai) Song Min-kyu (Jeonbuk Hyundai) Son Jun-ho (Shandong Taishan) Kwon Chang-hoon (Gimcheon Sangmu) Ko Seung-beom (Gimcheon Sangmu) Na Sang-ho (FC Seoul) Um Won-sang (Ulsan Hyundai) Yang Hyun-jun (Gangwon FC) FW Cho Gue-sung (Jeonbuk Hyundai) Oh Hyeong-gyu (Suwon Samsung) Expect 1/3 of them will be ruled out for the final roster for the World Cup.
No idea why Song Min-kyu got called up when he failed to make an impact every time he got selected. Then again it's not like he'll go to the WC anyway. Should've at least done some last minute testing with Joo Min-kyu and Lee Seung-woo though.
Anybody fancy 박항서 as the next national team manager? His contract with Vietnam ends next year January, and rumor is that he's being listed as a potential candidate (As do with other SEA teams, and China as well). There's also a handful of folks that want him in the KFA to further help the national team, but personally for me I'd rather he not as long as the repeat offenders are still there.
