One interesting thing we could add is everyone select their best 11 or 18 who wasn’t picked. Teams can pick the same players. From that, in a few months; we’ll add 4 more rounds where teams can ONLY pick from their current 18. If for some reason, all 18 players are picked, the team can then pick a player outside of the 18.
I’d also say with this unpicked eleven idea have very short windows of like four hours some people probably won’t even participate . I also think instead of having a set number of rounds you could just go until no one has anyone in their list left. Much like in real like some teams will have exactly 18 players some might have 25 but you must post a match day roster of 18.
What I was thinking... we all just state who is our best unpicked XI, and commit to it by Sunday. There’s no order because we can all pick the same players if we want. The idea though is when we pick for rounds 19-22; we have to pick from our XI until at least all of XI have been picked. Of note, one player must be a goalkeeper. Furthermore, traditionally the supplemental rounds have always inversed the order of the draft. That said, I do agree with the next rounds; whenever we decide to jump on rounds 19-22; let’s only have a four window for that exact reason. What say you: @thedukeofsoccer @truefan420 @GiallorossiYank @zlebmada @Kevin8833 @ChuckMe92 @jond @ShaftBrewer @CreightonMCFCjoey @IndividualEleven @AutoPenalti @Matthew Hartman @TheFalseNine @Lookingforleftbacks We good with everyone posting their best unpicked XI by Sunday evening 18:00et? And, come the late spring or summer, we’ll pick again?
It would work for me especially to have supplemental rounds because I thought it was only 18 so took a couple chances I shouldn't have and didn't address need ideally. But this best xi thing, one could influence another, limiting the amount of names, and allowing other teams to genk your ideas. So maybe they could be submitted to @TheFalseNine Better yet (imo), if we all put some names in order, let's say 25 best available players remaining, and then submitted that to TheFalseNine, it could be a one time thing and then as a neutral maybe he could sort thru who everyone would be awarded with based on draft order and personal rankings. Those who were frustrated by either the slowness of the draft or life getting in the way don't have to worry. I've always found Autodrafts more convenient personally.
Personally, I like the idea of just submitting the best XI to @TheFalseNine . I think the second idea could get a little tricky. But we haven’t heard from him in awhile! You alive buddy!?
Maybe those who drafted first should be the ones to post their best available XI first. I'd have to post second, but don't mind it even if someone changes their players upon surveying my players/ideas. The posters who started behind the eight ball because they couldn't take Pulisic or Adams would be the ones to post last. This would likely go fairly slowly, though hopefully not too slowly, and it wouldn't need a mod (if even logged in) to sort out which players to subjectively distribute. Just a suggestion though.
I went absolutely MIA after this wedding weekend. I know @truefan420 held down the fort, he's the mastermind behind the team
Don’t sell your contributions short. You help shape how we wanted to play and with our draft boards. I just happen to be on when our picks were up.
I'm fine with posting all of my 11 at once even if someone gets an idea from who I've picked. But just my opinion.
We’ll all post our best XI of players who were unpicked in the draft. We can all pick the same players, that part doesn’t matter... But in a few months we’ll do a supplemental draft of 4 rounds which we must pick from our best XI. On another note, what we can do, and this is if it’s okay with everyone else... I’ll send my XI to @thedukeofsoccer and once he has mine, everyone else can send me their XI. Once I have everyone’s XI I’ll post everyone’s picks. That way nobody has to worry about a persons picks influencing anyone else’s. I chose @thedukeofsoccer because I’m sure he’s like me (although I think most of us aren’t going to be persuaded much by others) and sure he has his best XI already ironed out too.
I don't near have the best xi left made out yet. Wasn't sure this was going to come to fruition and haven't had the time to truly hammer it out. In the draft, I picked 4th, Sargent and Weah went ahead of my selection because those players valued attackers, and I was told I made a mistake taking Adams instead of McKennie. Adams hadn't played for that version of Rasenballsport yet. There was some talk he'd even be loaned out to Salzburg. It's somewhat hindsight now he's a marquee player that was fell into. I think that point pertained to who discloses their extra picks first. But nobody has to. I'm fine with EB's suggestion. But I'd need a bit of time, until tomorrow at least. We can slow play this part. No rush, unlike before, because it's bonus period. Half that rush was pushiness, half paranoia. To wit, don't know if a couple players are even participating in this portion or from this point forward, in addition to scheduling changes (one of the impetuses for promptness originally). Would be nice to hear from everybody so we know if there's a point in investing a little time before proceeding.
Don't want to dick everyone over, but I'm not very enthused to continue participating in this. An XI of undrafted players would perfectly encapsulate why. We're talking about (roughly speaking) the 217th through 228th best players for a nation that failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. I love the USA and I love the USMNT a lot but this is pushing it for me.
I’m of similar mind but for a slightly different reason. People are more on board for this random mini draft within a draft but we can’t even finish posting our teams of 18, voting/seeding and playoff matchups. Let’s get through that before we even begin to talk about extrending the draft.
Interest definitely waned as the draft dragged out. That happened last time. We should definitely revisit after the Gold Cup, unlike happened previously. It's probably still early to gauge how everybody did. But if somebody wanted to set that up too, that'd be fine. Not everybody would need to be here still to make it work. Then there may be less impetus for the later evaluation however.
I think we should do both tho. If we were gonna wait for the gold cup we should have waited to do the draft.
When you play fantasy sports the evaluations are made at the end of the season not the beginning so it's not about perception rather reality.
To be fair fantasy sports is an on going event. This is gonna be dead for a while. Getting everyone back together and interest back up will be difficult as every year this draft has happened has proven.
