Jury duty was one of the worst things I ever had to do, and to make it worse the defendant decided to defend himself. It was a week of hell. I even thought I'd get dismissed because the defendant was targeting anyone for dismissal who had a relative that was in law enforcement. My brother-in-law is a state trooper and three cousins are cops/Sheriffs. Alas, for some unknown reason he was ok with me. Turns out that was a mistake. Oh, and he was guilty on all counts.
I rarely go to court as I stay away from those cases. Most of my legal practice involves drafting legal documents such as wills, contracts and other stuff. The jury system is crazy. Judges can be bad too.
So far they've had 2 cases called, I counted the jurers called both were civil cases with 8 ppl needed. There are over 150 ppl here. Absolutely crazy. Guess that's what happens when you only have to pay ppl $2.25/hr for forced attendance. At least I get to do some reading.
When I lived in Virginia, they brought about 30 of us into a courtroom. The attorneys looked at me but did not ask me any questions. I guess they were trying to figure out if they knew me since I listed my occupation. I have always been licensed in Maryland. A few years ago, I got a call for jury duty in Maryland. About 250 of us packed in a room waiting to see if our number got called. In the afternoon they released most of us and told us we were done and did not have to return again that week. The $15 mailed to us covered lunch with some change.
We're getting $20/day. Parking is $13. Luckily I'm only a ten minute walk from where I work so I can use the parking pass I'm only paying $40/month for and not having to pay extra. I'll probably get mugged on the walk by Friday though. This areas pretty shitty.
Perfect thread to ask this. On one forum I'm on, there's a separate section for EA games (most notably NHL because it's a hockey forum). Any way we could get a FIFA thread going in this section? I just started a career mode on Fifa 16 with Juventus and I think it would be fun to do write ups about the year in the game and who I transferred, winnings, overall ratings, etc.
My uncle in Santa Clara County just died last week and he had been a criminal defender for 60+years. He had the judges in his pocket and was an attorney for all the big time mafiosi who made their way out west from NYC. He mostly got crooks off with lesser charges than what they went in for. I went to him on a shared equity property deal I had with my former employer and he let me listen to the other lawyer while on the phone and the other guy sounded so scared it wasn't even funny. He kept dancing around his direct questions and tried to avoid telling the truth that it was kind of funny. I finally threw in the towel because I didn't really feel like spending more money to file depositions and so on but it was still hilarious to see how the other side squirmed , lied and tried to twist and bend the truth. Looking back I actually came out ahead in the deal so I was happy.
Thanks man, really appreciate it. Lost the motivation to make more videos after one that I spent allot of time on got copyrighted. However reading this brought it back.
Iv uploaded 2 more videos Football players as managers (Includes Allegri and Ancellotti) And one that got copyrighted but was finally released today.
This is insane, why the hell would you tattoo a stranger's face on your body? https://www.facebook.com/uefachampionsleague/videos/1246721335374326/
No different than people getting religious tattoos of Mary, Jesus, etc. What about people who get their favorite sports team tatooed on them? No different really.
Here is one the most defining goals of their history. Looking back its actually even more important knowing what ensued.
