Re: Poll: FIFA's decision regarding J O Mikel

I've heard from a couple of Nigerian sources that Fifa is likely to make a decision in Obi's favour (i.e. Chelsea's) whereby his contract with us will get cancelled. I hope they're wrong though.

We don't want a traitor. And Chelsea shouldn't be able to get him either.
How about both him and Chelsea got some sort of punishment for violating FIFA rules? He should get banned from professional football for the duration of the contract that he signed with us. Chelsea will be banned from registering any new players for 1 or 2 seasons?
The Norwegian club will also have the transfee fee reimbursed by Chelsea.

Chelsea will then obviously appeal this decison. Their ban will then be put on hold until they commit the same offense again in the future. Mikel then comes out and say that he was threatened by Chelsea before the TV interview and that he really wanted to join Man Utd. He'll also appeal against the ban and get the ban shortened to 1 year.

Is it me or are Chelsea the footballing equivalent of a very small spoilt child with a large box of toys. You know the kind of kid that want's to play with every toy YOU pick up rather than playing happily with their own?

I give you Robben, obi Mikel, Ballack, Essien etc...

Surely a better strategy for Utd would be to bid put phoney bids on every half decent player in the world, let Chelsea follow us and then pull out ;) That might eat into Romans 6 billion quid!

Or how about Chelsea buy every player in the world and then rent them out that way they can keep who they like.

They would be the Football equivalent of Blockbuster Video ;)

    Bitter Utd fan...

If Fifa cancels a perfectly legitimate contract, then they are opening the door for future chaos.

We should sue for compensation. Fifa are going to have chaos on their hands since contracts now mean ******** all in their eyes.

Well, if FIFA do rule in his favour, then surely there must be someone at OT that is to blame for 'forcing' him to grin like a mad 'un as he signed the contract, that FIFA will have to come down hard on. Surely they can't just say "yes, an offense has taken place, but no-one's to blame". I suppose they could put in a cooling down period for young players signing contracts, (should another club offer double the wages the following day ;) )

I agree, Lyn should be paying you compensation for dragging you through this mess after they had "signed" a player unethically and possibly in violation of an existing contract (that could not be canceled as they claim). I say a £4m quid refund + interest and the payment of your legal fees is in order.

That is part of the problem. I cannot see how Man Utd have done anything wrong in this case. If we had, then why go public with the transfer? It doesn't make any sense. If anyone is to blame then it will probably be Andersen, as he is the one that Shittu is pointing the finger at.

Good young player: "I'm delighted to have signed for Blackpool FC."
Agent: "Forest just called and said they would have paid you more money."
Good young player: "I was pressured into signing for Blackpool, I want to go to Forest."

Not that there's any precedent at risk with the Mikel case though there Mark....

So Motterman are you actually admitting Obi was pressurised to sign for Man Utd?

My point is all the Utd fans on this post find it way to easy to point the blame at Chelsea, when probably only a handful of people actually know what went on, and id be surprised if any of those people post on BS.

The guy is 18 years old. Contrary to what MADD wants you to think, 18 year olds have pretty good ability to think for themselves. Unless he is not as quick as some of us, he should be able to realise that when you publicially are announced with a club, and you have a contract then you are bound to that club. I understood this when I 12 years old. Surely, he has enough reasoning to know when he is being wronged to not do something, if he was indeed at all wronged.

Whos timeline of events would that be, the Man Utd-friendly timeline and the Chelsea-friendly timeline are to different things. Like I said, its a case of who you believe or in this case, who you support when choosing what side to take

Re: Poll: FIFA's decision regarding J O Mikel

In my opinion, someone started pissing in his ear after he signed with United, telling him that something hadn't been done correctly and he could actually go somewhere else for more money. Maybe it was his agent (or one of his agents) or maybe it was Chelsea. However, as others have stated, you cannot look at the photo of Obi with the United shirt and believe that, at that moment, he had been forced to sign.
