Here is where we vote for who chose the best moves based on watching previews of them on YouTube and reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Top three, ordered or not. Anyone can vote. Anyone can be shocked, just shocked that we didn't chose your favorite movie. Anyone can point out how awesome subtitled moves are and how great it is that someone bravely chose 5 of them.
My picks in no particular order: Panfilo: I'd argue that every single one of his movies is at the very least good. Though I have yet to see United 93. Spejic: Great variety in terms of genres and country of origin. Also JCVD! He also picked a great documentary (which now makes me which I had actually done so myself) Quango: In the mood for love, the best movie out of the Bourne franchise, the quite excellent Moon, Ratatouille, Jesse James, ... I don't love everything on his list, but what I do like is pretty great.
Lurkers can vote?? I'll be honest and say that I haven't seen 75% of the films mentioned and going by your descriptions of them I never will see them either. 1st AFG... 2nd Usry - Actually saw 11 of these! 3rd BG - Just for In Bruges and TT Billy, no love for Wind that shakes the barley?
1. Belgian guy - Picks 2-6 were all great movies. 2. billyireland - Picks 1, 7, 10 were awesome. 3. Boogie_Down - Picks 1, 2, 9 are solid.
Desgraciadamente, no he visto muchas de las peliculas escogidas por Panfilo, y por eso no puedo votar pa' el. Y asi, en orden de primer a tercer lugar, aqui son mis selecciones. 1. Bougie Dawn 2. AFG 3. iBilly What I liked best about BD's picks were the range and the willingness to go with both boxoffice and critical success films as well as some more edgy stuff. I wouldn't have picked Synecdoche, but that's a tribute to his sophistication. AFG started and ended strong for me. I really liked HiFi, the proxy for my life story, without much sentimentality, and taking The Incredibles in his first slot was a very gutsy choice. iBilly has 4 picks that I would have jumped at if I had had the forethought, especially WAAAAALEEEE and Once. Honorable mention goes to the Doctor but he picked 3 films that I don't think would make my top 25
You know, you guys can pimp your own drafts. Tell us why, we, the collective peanut gallery, should choose your drafts over anyone else's. That is, if you want my oh-so-valuable votes...
My vote goes to spejic. Why spejic? Because whether I've seen all of those films or not, in the pantheon of movie reviewers who I both trust and enjoy reading, there is Pauline Kael, Roger Ebert, and spejic. And spejic has a big advantage over the other two in still being an active reviewer. Honorable mention to frasermc and Quango.
i don't hafta pimp my draft. it's wall to wall enjoyable, well-crafted films, not much cutting-edge stuff, but i'm guessing most of us have seen 10 of the 12. that's in contrast to a couple of lists which, while probably exceptionally good flicks, those have not been seen by more than half of this panel.
I've seen so few of these movies that I can't vote in good conscience. You do know that I hate Adaptation with the fury of a volcano, don't you?
I didn't like it, but it wasn't good enough for me to hate it. But I'm really not a Charlie Kaufman fan. He even wrote the worst episode of Moral Orel. Yeah, yeah. We get it. The dog's Jesus. You don't need to have him carry a cross-shaped stick. There's no subtlety in the man.
I did, but it was five years ago. Just like you, I think spejic is the best movie reviewer on BigSoccer and I keep track of all his posts. Re-reading it, the synopsis seems a little clumsy. I blame the movie.
It's tough keeping up with the voting count. Way too much voter participation. Show us your purple thumbs!
It's corrupt alright. No love for a Liverpool supporter here and I gave all these guys the nod on their choices.
