Bad news for Rosenborg ahead of Sunday's top match against Vålerenga. Goalkeeper Kristine Nøstmo, five clean sheets from the start of the season, is out with a broken arm after an accident in training last week. I thought she was benched against Klepp to let the reserve keeper Rugile Rulyte get some minutes against weak opposition, but obviously not.

And talking about boycotts, I forgot Nøstmo is also turning down Norway since 2019 after body shaming incidents from the coaching staff.

I reckon she is Norway's best goalkeeper now. Her distribution is outstanding. Like few others, she can knock a dead ball 60-70 yards upfield.

Wow that is bad news for them and perhaps the quality of the match. The good news is a break is often better than a serious soft tissue issue. Wonder who goes in the pipes if she gets injured? Do Vålerenga serve balls into the six repeatedly?

Rugile Rulyte. She actually had to step in on short notice when Rosenborg played Vålerenga at home last year too and did keep a clean sheet then.

    TOPPSERIEN 2021 – 7th Matchday

    Arna Bjørnar 3 – 0 Avaldsnes
    1-0 Mia Jalkerud 19
    2-0 Mia Jalkerud 34
    3-0 Mia Jalkerud 43

Toppserien 2020 featured only one hat-trick in total. This season we seem to get one every week. Veteran Swedish forward Mia Jalkerud delivered the goods in the first half of this vital bottom of the table clash to secure A-B’s first win this season. Avaldsnes are now in a minor crisis. Key players Tvedten and Sævik totally invisible, other new signings are not performing, coach Thomas Dahle has few options on the bench to change games, and there is the ongoing conflict with NFF about the contract with the foreign betting company.

    A-B (4-4-2): Edrud 5 – Myrseth 7, Lövgren 6, Ose 6, Hjelmhaug 6 – Veivåg 6, Bjelde 7, Haugland 5, Laupstad 5 – Abrahamsen 6, Jalkerud 8.

    AVA (5-3-2): Esson 5 – Løvås 3 (Endresen 4), Decker 4, Utvik 4, Norheim 3, Nilsen 4 – Tvedten 5, Pavlovic 4, Dirdal 4 (Svandal 4) – Sævik 3, Holum 3.

    LSK Kvinner 4 – 0 Stabæk
    1-0 Emilie Haavi 3
    2-0 Mimmi Löfwenius 24
    3-0 Camilla Linberg 74
    4-0 Mille Ivi Christensen 81

LSK back on track with a win after two heavy losses against top teams. The former champions are slowly adapting to their new place in the hierarchy outside top three, and kept a clean sheet for the first time this season. Fourteen goals conceded in seven games is a poor record for a team like LSK. Norway goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand will return to the club soon. But Stabæk were no match on the day. The highlighted prodigy Christensen scored her first Toppserien goal. Sophie Haug made her 100th Toppserien appearance for LSK (44 goals).

    LSK (4-2-3-1): Norstrøm 5 – Dahlström 5, Lüthcke 5, Gausdal 6, Woldvik 6 – Eide Lie 7, Vanhaevermaet 5 – Löfwenius 5 (Christensen 6), Linberg 7, Haavi 6 – Haug 5.

    STA (3-5-2): Panengstuen 4 – Søndenå 3, Reinås 3, Sundlöv 4 – Grønli 4, Loennecken 5, Kielland 6, Huseby 5, Omarsdottir 6 (Thoresen 5) – Bjånesøy 4, Jönsson 5.

    Lyn 0 – 1 Kolbotn
    0-1 Tone Pirisi 3

After starting the season with five straight defeats, Kolbotn have now rotated a lot in the starting line-up and turned the tide. Emilie Østerås has arrived on loan from Vålerenga and is a big influence in midfield in the absence of the injured Vilde Birkeli. For the second game in a row, Kolbotn won with the only goal of the match. This time scored early by Tone Pirisi, her first ever Toppserien goal after five years in the league.

    LYN (4-3-3): Odden 4 – Palm 4, Bækkelund 5, Olsen 4, Closs 5 – Jorde 6, Gashi 4, Godø 5 – Tunes 4, Haugstad 3 (Lillegård 4), Søyland 4 (Tandberg 5).

    KOL (4-2-3-1): Ervik 5 – Francis 5, Hørte 6, Hansen 7, Nelhage 5 – Østerås 5, Jørgensen 5 – Hegg 4 (Norem 4), Pirisi 6, Fridlund 6 (Pedersen 5) – Clausen 5 (Kvernvolden 5).

    Klepp 1 – 3 Sandviken
    0-1 Marit Bratberg Lund 1
    0-2 Maria Brochmann 8
    0-3 Marit Bratberg Lund 10
    1-3 Marie-Yasmine Alidou 72

Klepp were caught napping from kick-off and Sandviken were ruthless, scored three times and killed the game within the first ten minutes. From then on it was all about keeping possession. Klepp could have been five down at half-time. Sandviken’s wingbacks Marit Bratberg Lund and Ingrid Ryland are a joy to watch. They contribute so much to the attacking game. Lund scored twice today and Ryland had one assist.

    KLE (3-5-2): Larsen 5 – Orgill 4, Austdal 5, Brunes 5 – Skretting 5, Broch 4, Andresen 4, Aune 6, Alidou 6 – Karlsen 4, Maksuti 3 (Nødland 6).

    SAN (3-4-3): Micah 5 – Østenstad 5, Bergsvand 6, Hansen 6 – Ryland 6 (Neset 5), Spord 6, Naalsund 6, B.Lund 8 – Terland 5, Brochmann 7, Hasund 5.

    Vålerenga 1 – 2 Rosenborg
    1-0 Ingibjörg Sigurðardóttir 31
    1-1 Elin Sørum 64
    1-2 Sara Fornes 90+1

Wow! Great entertainment in the biggest game in Norway covered live on NRK tonight. Vålerenga suffered their first home defeat in more than two years, and it could potentially have huge consequences. They now face a massive challenge away at Sandviken next week to keep the championship hopes and UWCL spot alive, because the top clubs don’t seem to throw away many points against the smaller clubs this season. Dejana Stefanovic, who missed the decisive penalty against Brøndby in February, now missed a big spot kick again in the 86th minute at 1-1! Substitute Fornes, who scored that vital last gasp equalizer in this fixture last year, now made it one better and scored the winner. Rosenborg were on the ropes for long stretches of the second half, but managed to squeeze out a win and extend their unbeaten record.

    VIF (4-2-3-1): Tompkins 3 – Bott 6, Pedersen 5, Sigurðardóttir 6, Tomter 6 – Nygard 6, Stefanovic 5 – Thomsen 6, Ildhusøy 5, Madsen 4 – Jensen 4.

    RBK (4-2-3-1): Rulyte 6 – Næss 5, Bragstad 6, Vårhus 6, Olsvik 5 – Sørum 6, Joramo 5 – Rogde 6, Andreassen 4, Blakstad 7 – Utland 4.

Very interesting. Also, I wonder if later the Champions' League campaign will end somehow distracting Vålerenga from the domestic league.

Mia Jalkerud had a couple great goals for Arna Bjørnar. I was mentioning I wonder what happens to Avaldsnes when Nathalie Utvik ages out. After watching the highlights and seeing the standings I wouldn't be surprised if she hangs up the boots at the end of the season. Hopefully they find a suitor and don't fade into the ether.

Beating up on weak teams is the LSK signature.

Lyn/Kolbotn made four subs at haltime and 10 inside 40 minutes. I get the fresh legs part but it must be frustrating for the players. I also noticed the assist on the goal went to Marit Clausen who I thought was with Rosenborg?

I was watching the rb.no ticker late in the VIF/RBK game and thought we had another three-way tie for the lead when Rosenborg snuck the winner in the 90th minute. Looked like they had a good crowd out which is promising.

Dejana Stefanovic's penalty was a bit puzzling. If you are going to hit down the middle you don't go with power.

Strange Jalen Tompkins gets a 3 and Rugile Rulyte gets a 6. Tompkins let in two goals, one not many women in the entire world would stop. Rulyte causes a penalty and then freezes on the shot and doesn't go either direction and gets lucky.

Good Lord Elin Sørum's goal was just an absolute screamer. Anyone on the Eliteserien team would have been proud of hitting that. The goal Rosenborg gave up was so unnecessary, the keeper in a terrible position and there was no one on the back post where the ball went in. Same for Rosenborg's winner, why is Tompkins standing near the front post when Blakstad is crossing from the goal line?

Ina Vårhus had a beauty of a header hit the post with power on an attacking corner, when she is there in the back alongside Emilie Bragstad they aren't going to give up much in the air.

Another quiet day for the rumoured PSG-interested Celin Bizet Ildhusøy.

Clausen moved to Kolbotn before this season started. It was one of the most talked about transfers this winter. I'm too lazy to search, but we must have covered her move in this thread a number of pages back.

Tompkins got some criticism from pundits on that Sørum shot because the ball passed right above her head, not to any of the corners. The highlight reel didn't feature the replay from all angles. But what a belter. One of the most powerful shots this season in the league. I agree, 3 for Tompkins was harsh.

For those who are interested: check out the full Vålerenga-Rosenborg match.

I fear miss Bizet is going to do an Andrea Norheim if she signs for PSG. Remember the promising striker who went to Lyon to play with Ada some years ago? She had barely made an impression in Toppserien at all, but was tempted to try her luck anyway. She was stuck in the reserve team and stagnated. Now at 22, Norheim is a retrained struggling centre-back at Avaldsnes. :coffee:

Perhaps those pundits should have been standing there when it came in

Yeah rings a bell now that you mention it.

Another who left too early IMHO was Synne Jensen.

I agree, although she had the best CV of all teenage strikers going abroad apart from Ada. Synne Jensen scored 24 goals in 42 Toppserien matches before she left for Wolfsburg in 2015. I can understand she was tempted to take the next step. Celin Bizet (b. 2001) is currently on 7 goals in 67 Toppserien matches as winger for Vålerenga. A good number of these appearances are as substitute, but still a thin resume to bring to PSG and jostle for a starting spot.

In first division action Åsane just steamrolled Medkilla, who are now an extreme longshot to turn their seasons around and promote.

The season is 1/3 complete and at this point it's Røa by a fraction over Amazon Grimstad, two storied clubs with long tenures in the Toppserien.

    Everyone in action tomorrow.

The bottom four teams are all in head-to-head competition with some important points up for grabs.

10 Jul: Stabæk – Arna Bjørnar
Stabæk a slight favourite by the slimmest of margins

    10 Jul: Avaldsnes – Klepp
    Avaldsnes 2-1 with Klepp 3-1

Of the top six, Sandviken are hosting Vålerenga in the main event. A Rosenborg win and a loss by either will mean at least a four point deficit from the top for the loser, a tie will mean both are at least four points from the top.

10 Jul: Kolbotn – LSK Kvinner
LSK favoured over five times Kolbotn

    10 Jul: Sandviken – Vålerenga
Vålerenga a slight favourite by the slimmest of margins

    10 Jul: Lyn – Rosenborg
Rosenborg favoured about 10 times over Lyn

    Stabæk 0 – 3 Arna Bjørnar
    0-1 Emelie Lövgren 4
    0-2 Meryll Abrahamsen 56 (pen)
    0-3 Thea Bjelde 66

Arna Bjørnar are on a roll with a second straight three goal win. Captain Thea Bjelde put the icing on the cake with her first Toppserien goal in nearly four years, a beauty in off the crossbar. Linnea Laupstad celebrated her 18th birthday with the pass. Stabæk are now the new bottom team and look increasingly like most other newly promoted teams. I’m a bit disappointed at them actually. There is enough quality and experience in that team to deliver better than what we’ve seen in recent weeks.

    STA (3-5-2): Skoglund 5 – Bjørneboe 4, Reinås 4, Sundlöv 5 – Grønli 4, Aandal 3 (Loennecken 5), Kielland 6, Huseby 5, Normann 4 – Bjånesøy 5, Bjørndalen 5 (Omarsdottir 5).

    1-0 Andrea Norheim 39
    2-0 Emma Braut Brunes 73 (o.g.)
    3-0 Rebecka Holum 81

It’s always entertaining at the Hollywood club in Toppserien. Avaldsnes coach Thomas Dahle was suddenly inexplicably absent on the bench today. Has he been in a dispute with God almighty, Arne Utvik? His assistant was leading from the dugout, which opens up speculations about Dahle’s future. Some of the pressure was taken off his shoulders today though. Avaldsnes won comfortably in the Rogaland derby against hapless Klepp. May be this was the turning point. Club legend Hanna Dahl returned from injury and made her first appearance this season.

    AVA (4-3-3): Esson 6 – Løvås 5, Decker 5, Norheim 5, Endresen 4 (Dahl 5) – Tvedten 7, Pavlovic 4, Svandal 4 (Jøsendal 6) – Sævik 6, Gio 5, Holum 5.

    Kolbotn 1 – 2 LSK Kvinner
    0-1 Emilie Haavi 10
    0-2 Ina Gausdal 15
    1-2 Ingrid Kvernvolden 28

This looked like another LSK rout against a weaker team early on, but Kolbotn fought back and made a game of it in the heavy rain. A drab second half though. Haavi’s goal, a wicked cross misjudged by Ervik, took her equal with Synne Jensen on the top scorer’s chart with 8 goals. Isabell Bachor came on as a late sub on her 38th birthday.

    KOL (4-3-3): Ervik 3 – Francis 4, Hørte 3, Hansen 5, Pettersen 3 – Østerås 4, Pedersen 5, Pirisi 4 – Kvernvolden 5, Clausen 4, Norem 4 (Fridlund 6).

    1-0 Vilde Hasund 31
    2-0 Guro Bergsvand 53
3-0 Marit Bratberg Lund 68 (pen)

Sandviken’s title bid is real. No other conclusion can be drawn after today’s game. Impressive performance. The smooth sailing is over for Vålerenga after six easy wins. Everything has changed in one week. The champions created very little today and are now in big trouble trailing by six points to Rosenborg and four to Sandviken. The upcoming match on Wednesday against arch rivals LSK away is vital. Another defeat could possibly ruin the season. Both teams missed one Olympics bound player each today: Sandviken goalkeeper Micah for Australia and Vålerenga full-back CJ Bott for New Zealand.

    Lyn 1 – 2 Rosenborg
    0-1 Emilie Bragstad 6
    0-2 Emilie Lein 68
    1-2 Anna Aahjem 84

Rosenborg are top of the league, but there are dark clouds on the horizon. The win last week against Vålerenga came at a price. Matilde Rogde suffered an ACL injury midway through the game, but still played nearly forty minutes and assisted the winning goal without knowing the severeness of it. Today against Lyn, Elin Sørum limped off with an ankle injury. Rosenborg have some business to do in the upcoming transfer window. Lyn impressed in the second half and could have pulled back both goals and earned a draw, but were denied by the crossbar in the final seconds. This was a typical win on a bad day for Rosenborg.

    LYN (5-4-1): Odden 4 – Palm 4, Bækkelund 6, Nordahl 5, Olsen 5, Closs 6 – Tandberg 7, Jorde 6, Godø 5, Tunes 4 – Lillegård 5.

    RBK (4-2-3-1): Rulyte 6 – Næss 5, Bragstad 7, Vårhus 7, Olsvik 5 – Sørum 4 (Dyrehauge 5), Joramo 4 – Utland 4, Andreassen 6, Blakstad 5 – Fornes 4.

Didn't expect that turn of events. But probably Vålerenga lost too many big-name players (Spitse, Njoya) between 2020 and 2021.

Can't find anything about it in Norwegian media outlets yet, or Vålerenga's own sources, but the fact that Bizet was benched in the top match against Sandviken on Saturday, raises further questions about her future at the club. :coffee:

PSG just announced Ilestedt, they should announce her next. I can't reveal my source, but it is an official one.

Rosenborg will host Barcelona in a friendly - Saturday, 28 August at Lerkendal (the main stadium for the men's team). There will be TV coverage and organizers hope there will be 10 000 spectators.

Rosenborg coach Steinar Lein: We go to this game to see where the bar is at international level.

This friendly is scheduled after the 1st round of the UWCL. Rosenborg will have played against Minsk and hopefully Levante a week before. The Barcelona game is seen as a possible tune-up to the decisive 2nd round matches. What an anti-climax it would be if Rosenborg are eliminated before they face Barcelona. :ninja:

Sweet! Great friendly and kudos to them, CGH will have a massively enjoyable time.

Strange though, they have a Toppserien match the same day against LSK.

The past week has been a complete and utter blur, just catching up now.

Couple of huge games this week.

The first is on right now and LSK are almost at the half and up 1-0 on Vålerenga at home in Lillestrøm. If they hold on, they drop the gold-medalists into a tie for third place and mid-table at the halfway point in the season. If Vålerenga find their shooting boots they stay in third and go up six points on LSK, but they would still have work to do to get back to dreamland again.

If Vålerenga can turn this game and their season around and find consistency they are close enough to repeat as champions. At the same time they are skirting with the difficulties that usually set in when things don't go as expected.

The other game is the main event and not the undercard. Sandviken goes up to Trondheim to play Rosenborg in a 1-2 match and winner takes the top. A win by RBK means they can drop a game and still hold their lead outright, a loss means they're chasing Sandviken until exactly a month from now when they go out west for the return match.

Rosenborg has to walk the gauntlet in August with these three consecutive matches:

    Aug 14 - Sandviken
    Aug 28 - LSK
    Sep 4 - Vålerenga

Throw in Barcelona into the 28th and shift LSK on a near date and it's still a power packed period.

I was watching the ticker when they played last week and noticed a couple interesting things.

The first goal was scored by a central defender and assisted by the other central defender. Not something you see every day.

The second goal was scored by a sub who just came on, and assisted by a sub who just came on. As a coach you can just smile when that happens.

    LSK Kvinner 1 – 1 Vålerenga

    1-0 Mimmi Löfwenius 20
    1-1 Celin Bizet Ildhusøy 79

Early kick-off date for this arch rival derby before the summer break. A tense and physical battle between two teams desperate to keep up with the front teams in the league ended with a disappointing draw. It wasn’t much fluent attacking football in this game. Vålerenga are not at their best these days, and LSK managed to outmuscle them in midfield. Few scoring chances were created at both ends. Nobody wanted a draw, but that was probably a fair result on the night.

    LSK (4-2-3-1): Norstrøm 5 – Dahlström 4, Brenn 4, Gausdal 7, Woldvik 4 – Eide Lie 5, Vanhaevermaet 5 – Löfwenius 7, Linberg 7, Haavi 6 – Haug 5.

    VIF (4-2-3-1): Tompkins 5 – Thomsen 5, Pedersen 4, Sigurðardóttir 4, Tomter 5 – Tennebø 5, Stefanovic 4 – Ildhusøy 6, Stengel 5 (Nygard 5), Madsen 6 – Jensen 6.

Rosenborg - LSK is re-scheduled to September 29.
