Yes, Nina Patalon (U-19 coach) gave her a call in November last year. Since then U19's weren't on camp (twice cancelled)

Nice story! I trust she is still a Polish citizen so we cannot expect her to play for Norway in the future (unless she becomes a Norwegian citizen). Wonder if she has learned Norwegian (I suspect so ) ?

Yes, she is still Polish citizen. I take it for granted she has the ambition to play for Poland's senior NT if selected. She is fluent in Norwegian without foreign accent from what I could hear in a short post-match interview earlier this season. People learn and adapt fast at that age. Nine years in Norwegian schools after all.

    TOPPSERIEN 2020 – 15th Matchday

    LSK Kvinner 1 – 3 Avaldsnes
    1-0 Tonje Pedersen 23
    1-1 Rasheedat Ajibade 72
    1-2 Justine Vanhaevermaet 80 (own-goal)
    1-3 Elise Thorsnes 86

Oops, LSK collapsed late in the game and the champions are in trouble. Avaldsnes became the first club since Kolbotn in 2011 to beat LSK both home and away in the same league season. But very little indicated this after the first half. LSK ran the show and created multiple chances. Emilie Haavi in particular. Tonje Pedersen put the home team ahead with a thunderous shot in off the crossbar midway through the first half. The only blemish for LSK before the break was the knee-injury to Andrea Wilmann. No news on the seriousness of it so far. Avaldsnes brought on a fresh Frida Magnusdottir in the second half and she was vital in the turn-around. Ajibade equalized with a fine shot before an unlucky deflection on Vanhavermaet after a Magnusdottir cross put Avaldsnes ahead. Thorsnes then put the game beyond LSK with a third goal cutting in from the right and beating the keeper. Avaldsnes are the big winners this weekend.

    LSK (4-2-3-1): Norstrøm 3 – Dahlström 4 (Ellingsen -), Røstbakken 4, Gausdal 4, Woldvik 5 – Eide Lie 4, Vanhaevermaet 4 – Wilmann 5 (Kyvåg 4) (Bachor -), Pedersen 6 (Dekkerhus -), Haavi 5 – Haug 4.

    AVA (4-3-3): Esson 4 – Dahl 5, Decker 6, Polkinghorne 5, Utvik 5 – Norheim 4 (Magnusdottir -), Gorry 4 (Tennebø -), Tvedten 5 – Ajibade 5, Thorsnes 5, Jøsendal 4.

    Sandviken 2 – 2 Røa
    0-1 Kathrine Jørgensen 7
    1-1 Ida Holm Neset 24
    1-2 Linn Huseby 45
    2-2 Guro Bergsvand 90

A very entertaining game at Stemmemyren with some brilliant goals. Røa, in desperate need of points to stay alive in Toppserien, lead twice only to see the win slip away in the final minute when Bergsvand headed home a corner for Sandviken. Jørgensen scored a fine free-kick goal to open the score. Sandviken missed the injured striker Kennya Cordner in this game and moved Lisa Naalsund up front instead. In midfield, Neset took Naalsund’s position and scored a fine goal in off the crossbar, quite similar to Pedersen in the LSK-Avaldsnes game above. The penalty expert Linn Huseby proved she can score from open play as well when she put Røa ahead shortly before half-time with a powerful shot into the top corner from outside the box. Despite the late equalizer, this was again a disappointing Sandviken performance against the weakest team in the league.

    SAN (4-4-2): Bogstad 5 – Ryland 5, Stenevik 5, Bergsvand 6, Grøndal 4 (Raa -) – Hasund 6, Spord 5, Neset 6 (Veivåg -), Engesvik 5 (Lekven -) – Naalsund 6, H.Jensen 4.

    RØA (4-2-3-1): Nilsen 6 – Lyshoel 5, Suphellen 5, Masdal 5, Harviken 5 – Jørgensen 7 (Svastuen -), Birkeli 5 – Fjelldal 6, Huseby 6, Fuglem 4 – Roche 4 (Glorud -).

    Kolbotn 2 – 2 Klepp
    1-0 Sara Hørte 45+2
    1-1 Tuva Hansen 58 (pen)
    1-2 Matilde Rogde 70
    2-2 Cecelia Kizer 79

Tight game at Sofiemyr which swung back and forth before ending in a draw. Sara Hørte put Kolbotn ahead late in the first half after goalmouth scramble following a corner. Klepp equalized after a soft penalty won. Tuva Hansen scored from the spot, her first ever Toppserien goal since making her debut back in 2013. Matilde Rogde gave Klepp the lead after catching goalkeeper Siri Ervik off guard with a wicked cross from the right. Kolbotn then levelled the score with another fine dribbling goal from Cecelia Kizer, one of my favourite signings this autumn. She has made a good impression. Both these teams have plenty of work to do before they can book their spots in Toppserien 2021. Lyn are breathing down their necks.

    KOL (4-3-3): Ervik 4 – Orgill 5, Murray 4 (S.Haugland -), Hørte 6, B.Lund 5 – Jørgensen 5 (Pirisi -), Eckhoff 4, Kizer 6 – Hegg 5, Klæboe 4, Fridlund 5 (Nordahl -).

    KLE (3-5-2): Gay 4 – Østenstad 5, Vistnes 5, T.Hansen 6 – Rogde 5, Andresen 5, Stanton 4 (D’Anjou 5), Bjørnsen 4, S.Jensen 4 – H.Hansen 5, Terland 4.

    Lyn 4 – 0 Arna Bjørnar
    1-0 Selma Hernes 40
    2-0 Emma Godø 46
    3-0 Emma Godø 50
    4-0 Runa Lillegård 90+4

What a nightmare result for Røa at the bottom to see the gap grow to four points before the big showdown with Lyn after the international week. Lyn won big against an Arna Bjørnar team reduced to ten players midway through the first half when goalkeeper Moa Edrud clumsily handled the ball outside the penalty area. Hernes put Lyn in front before the break and two quick goals after the interval from Emma Godø made the second half a mere formality. Last season’s rising star Runa Lillegård made a celebrated come-back after injury twelve minutes from the end, and scored Lyn’s fourth goal one-vs-one with the goalkeeper in stoppage time. Lyn now have so many quality forwards for the remaining part of the season, they might even cause problems for the top teams. Remember, they took LSK to penalties in the NM Cup recently.

    LYN (4-4-2): Odden 6 – Bølviken 6, Jensen 7, Olsen 5, Closs 6 – Tunes 5 (Søyland -), Gashi 5 (Bakke -), Hernes 6, Godø 7 (Foslie -) – Linberg 6 (Larroquette -), Löfwenius 6 (Lillegård -).

    A-B (4-4-2): Edrud – Takle Eide 4 (Risnes -), Gloppen 5, Lövgren 5, Brummel 4 – Myrseth 4, Jåstad 3, Bjelde 5, Laupstad - (Kvamme 4) – Aleksic 4 (Ervik -), Abrahamsen 4 (Sunde -).

    Vålerenga 1 – 1 Rosenborg
    1-0 Janni Thomsen 55
    1-1 Sara Fornes 90+3

The big top of the table showdown in Oslo ended in a draw. Representatives for Vålerenga said they could have sold several thousand tickets for this game if not for covid-19. This was a rather cautious affair for long stretches with teams not ready to throw everything forward, but quality-wise a game between the two best teams in Toppserien at the moment. Julie Blakstad was the stand out player on the day for me (should have got more than 6 which NTB gave her), although more so in the first half. Rosenborg looked the better team going forward with nice combination play, but Vålerenga are stronger defensively. Janni Thomsen’s goal was either a missed cross or a cheeky lob over a goalkeeper out of position. But Rosenborg never gave up. They just refuse to lose and substitute Sara Fornes pounced on a loose ball in the box and belted it into the top corner – it was the last kick on the ball in the match. The title race is heating up even more with three clubs within one point of each other and LSK trailing further behind. [Watch the full match on NRK]

    VIF (4-3-3): Tompkins 6 – Thomsen 7, B.Pedersen 7, Sigurðardóttir 5, Tomter 5 – Spitse 5, Stefanovic 5 (Nygard -), H.Hansen 7 – Ildhusøy 5 (Madsen -), Njoya 4, Jensen 6 (Markussen -).

    RBK (4-2-3-1): Nøstmo 4 – Næss 4, Bragstad 6, Vårhus 6, Minde 6 – Sørum 5 (Døvle -), Joramo 6 – Utland 4, Andreassen 5 (Nergård -), Blakstad 6 – Clausen 4 (Fornes -).

The draw for the Champions League qualifiers was made earlier today. Vålerenga's match schedule in November is looking brutal after UEFA's decision to postpone these qualifiers. With wins in cup matches, we're looking at the possibility of seven matches in three weeks. :speechless:

01 Nov: Home vs LSK Kvinner (Toppserien MD 16)
04 Nov: Home vs Klaksvik (FRO) Champions League qualifier - Round 1
07 Nov: Away vs Lyn (Toppserien MD 17)
11 Nov: Away vs Stabæk (NM Cup QF)
15 Nov: Home vs Arna Bjørnar (Toppserien MD 18) Possible league decider
19 Nov: Champions League qualifier - Round 2
    22 Nov: NM Cup Semi-final

Well, at least (if FRO is Faroer as I suppose), the first game of Champions' League at home shouldn't be much more demanding than a training match, shouldn't it? :cautious:

Klaksvik appears to be a better draw than HJK Helsinki (the other possibility) for sure. Vålerenga don't have any long distance away matches left in domestic football either, so it could have been worse. They should get through this with some good rotation on key players.

The top of the table will probably be decided in the next two rounds when the top teams play each other. They all have a ticket to the dance, now the real two-round season begins.

At the bottom, that Vålerenga fixture congestion could still come into play in another way.

They have a game in the middle of all that against Lyn who will be loaded for bear. If they aren't sharp, Lyn can definitely game them.

Røa/Lyn on Halloween is a huge three points. If Lyn win, Røa are relegated. They will be seven points back with two games to play. If Røa win, they are a single point back.

And if Røa beat Lyn, unless Lyn upset Vålerenga or LSK, if Røa gets a win against Kolbotn or Arna-Bjørner they will leapfrog Lyn.

Lyn need a win in one of their last two games to force Røa to win both of their last two (Kolbotn & Arna-Bjørner).

If Lyn/Røa is a tie, because Lyn has a much superior goal difference, Røa will need to win their last two games and pray Lyn can't tie Vålerenga or LSK (who beat them 3-2 in August).

The last game of the year in any league is quite often unpredictable because of all the story lines and angles. Upsets are fairly common. LSK might be out of the European hunt by then and decide to field a young team. Expect the unexpected.

    Good one! :D

Røa actually have one lifeline left should they lose to Lyn on Halloween. They need Sandviken to get a win or draw against Kolbotn at home. That game kicks off an hour later. If Sandviken win, the bottom section of the table will look like this with two rounds to go:

    12p - Kolbotn
    8p - Røa

MD17: Kolbotn host LSK and lose. Røa must beat Arna Bjørnar in Bergen.

    12p - Kolbotn
    11p - Røa

MD18: Røa host Kolbotn in a do-or-die match. A win will seal a play-off spot for Røa and send Kolbotn down.

^^ once again, brilliant analysis. I had completely forgotten about Kolbotn.

All of these teams can have success on their day. But unfortunately someone has to go down and someone else to the playoff. Mistakes now, at both the top and bottom will come with tears.

Øvrevoll Hosle ties KIL/Hemme today which breaks the deadlock for second place and gives Medkila a two point lead on the Toppserien playoff spot.

Medkila have Honefoss (4th), Amazon Grimstad (7th) and Fart (10th - last) left, in that order.

    Euro 2022 qualifier, Cardiff

    Wales 0 - 1 Norway
    0-1 Frida Maanum 61

    ------------------------------------ Elise Thorsnes

--- Guro Reiten ------------ Caroline Hansen ---------------- Karina Sævik

--------------------------- Frida Maanum --- Ingrid Engen

Julie Blakstad -- Maria Thorisdottir -- Maren Mjelde -- Ingrid Moe Wold

    ----------------------------------- Cecilie Fiskerstrand

    Substitutions:
65 min - Amalie Eikeland for Guro Reiten
74 min - Lisa Marie Utland for Elise Thorsnes
86 min - Vilde Bøe Risa for Karina Sævik

Norway have qualified for Euro 2022! A great way to celebrate Maren Mjelde's 150th cap tonight, but this was otherwise not a night to be very happy about. Sjögren surprised many by giving Julie Blakstad her debut, but sadly out of position at the notorious left-back where he can't seem to find a satisfactory choice. Blakstad did well, but she should have played left wing instead like she does for Rosenborg. Reiten had a poor game there tonight.

Wales decided to drop down with a back five and four aggressive midfielders in front of them from the start, giving up possession to Norway from the get go. And Norway's meticulous and slow passing game made this a painful watch for long stretches of the game. No rhythm, movement and combination play worth mentioning. Thankfully, Frida Maanum broke the deadlock on the hour when she intercepted a Welsh player, drove forward and fired home an unstoppable shot.

The last 15 minutes were some of the worst ever under Sjögren. Norway were pinned back as if we played against the world champions and their lives depended on scoring. There were more blushes than joy at the final whistle. Norway won on a bad day. Sjögren has some problems to figure out. The team is severely underperforming, and he is not getting the best out of this player material. Two long pre-camps followed up by two games against Wales have given two unsatisfactory 1-0 wins. But England 2022, here we come.

Having watched the match all over again, I was may be a bit too negative in my evaluation of the Norway performance in the match report. It's not easy to break down a well organized and physical back five and four midfielders. Wales are currently 34th on the FIFA ranking, not 134th. The Wales players are based in decent clubs in England, and the team generally concede few goals. They held England to a goalless draw in the World Cup qualifiers last time.

Here is the full Wales - Norway game covered on BBC:

    TOPPSERIEN 2020 – 16th Matchday

    Klepp 2 – 1 Arna Bjørnar
    1-0 Matilde Rogde 29
    1-1 Meryll Abrahamsen 90
    2-1 Tuva Hansen 90+3 (pen)

A last gasp winning goal from Tuva Hansen sealed the three points and likely also the Toppserien contract for 2021 for the ever-present club Klepp. Remember, captain Hansen scored her first ever Toppserien goal after seven years during the last matchday, and now again! Arna Bjørnar had both their goalkeepers out with broken fingers before this game, and quickly made a loan deal this week with another Bergen club, Åsane in the second league, for Ingvild Villa who guarded the net today. She did alright, but caused the penalty which Klepp converted into goal in injury time. Polish international Aleksandra Sikora made a comeback today from the bench after missing a number of games through injury. Klepp coach Nick Loftus has once again returned to the back three formation which he abandoned earlier. Klepp play better with it and today’s win was fully deserved,

    KLE (3-5-2): Gay 5 – Østenstad 6, Vistnes 5 (Pedersen 5), T.Hansen 7 – Rogde 7, Andresen 6, D’Anjou 7, Bjørnsen 5 (Aune -), S.Jensen 5 – Karlsen 4 (Sikora -), Terland 6.

    A-B (4-4-2): Villa 5 – Takle Eide 4, Gloppen 5, Lövgren 5, Brummel 4 – Myrseth 5, Jåstad 5 (Erman -), Bjelde 4, Laupstad 4 – Aleksic 5, Ervik 4 (Abrahamsen -).

    Røa 1 – 3 Lyn
    1-0 Kathrine Jørgensen 11
    1-1 Oline Fuglem 15 (own-goal)
    1-2 Sofie Tunes 19
    1-3 Trine Skjelstad Jensen 90+4

Jackpot for Lyn who won this vital West Oslo derby and can no longer get relegated directly after opening up a seven point gap to Røa with two rounds to go. With Kolbotn’s defeat to Sandviken, Lyn now also have a three point gap to the playoff spot, which they need when they face LSK and Vålerenga in the last two games. Lyn scored three goals, but none from their talented forwards, although Camilla Linberg set up two of them. Røa are hanging on by a thread. They got forward Vilde Fjelldal injured early in the game and goalkeeper Linn Mari Nilsen made two errors which lead to goals. Røa need to beat Arna Bjørnar in Bergen next week to set up a possible do or die fixture with Kolbotn on the final matchday.

    RØA (4-2-3-1): Nilsen 3 – Lyshoel 3, Suphellen 4, Jørgensen 6, Harviken 5 – Huseby 4, Birkeli 5 – Fjelldal (Terry 4) (Masdal -), Svastuen 4, Fuglem 3 (Glorud -) – Roche 4 (Aabel -).

    LYN (4-4-2): Odden 5 – Bølviken 5, Jensen 6, Olsen 5, Closs 6 – Tunes 7, Gashi 5 (Bækkelund -), Hernes 5, Godø 6 – Linberg 7 (Aahjem -), Löfwenius 5 (Søyland -).

    Sandviken 1 – 0 Kolbotn
    1-0 Rakel Engesvik 37

Sandviken’s new coach Alexander Straus was supposed to take charge in January, but was persuaded to begin already now as an attempt to end the season on a high note after a number of disappointing matches. Today’s win was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. Kolbotn were toothless in attack. The bad news for Sandviken this week was the injury to centre-back Ingrid Stenevik. She damaged her kneecap in training and will naturally miss the rest of the season. Ingrid Spord moved back to cover for her. Sandviken already have Maria Brochmann and Kennya Cordner out injured, but still beat Kolbotn today. The goal was scored by Rakel Engesvik, who is on loan from Rosenborg. It’s getting hotter for Kolbotn as they come to terms with the possibility of a first ever relegation since promotion to Toppserien in 1994. They are now on the playoff spot and host LSK next week.

    SAN (4-4-2): Bogstad 5 – Ryland 5, Spord 5, Bergsvand 6, Hjelmhaug 5 – H.Jensen 4 (Neset -), Veivåg 6, Naalsund 6, Hasund 5 (Grøndal -) – Engesvik 6, Raa 4 (Veglo -).

    KOL (4-4-2): Ervik 5 – Orgill 5, Murray - (Nordahl 5), Hørte 5, B.Lund 5 – Hegg 4 (Christiansen -), Eckhoff 5, Pirisi 4 (Klæboe 5), Sørbo 3 (Fridlund 4) – Holmen 4 (Brandt -), Kizer 5.

    Rosenborg 3 – 1 Avaldsnes
    1-0 Lisa-Marie Utland 13
    1-1 Clare Polkinghorne 33
    2-1 Lisa-Marie Utland 61
    3-1 Ina Vårhus 87

Rosenborg released a behind the scenes documentary series earlier this week. Little did they know when the camera crew started following them in January, that this would be such a successful year. Despite being undefeated this season, Rosenborg have struggled at home and thrown away many points in frustrating draws, but today they showed up in style when it really mattered. National team players Kristine Minde (two assists) and Lisa-Marie Utland (two goals) finally delivered in a big game for Rosenborg. Avaldsnes surprised many by starting Olaug Tvedten, who spent a week training with the Norway squad, but didn’t make the journey to Wales due to injury. Today she was back and played a good game, and set up Polkinghorne’s goal with her corner kick. Rosenborg keep shadowing Vålerenga a point behind, but Avaldsnes are slipping up. Rosenborg’s third goal should probably have been disallowed after an assult on the goalkeeper from substitute Nergård.

    RBK (4-2-3-1): Nøstmo 5 – Næss 6, Bragstad 6, Vårhus 6, Minde 8 – Sørum 6 (Nergård -), Joramo 6 – Utland 8, Andreassen 5, Blakstad 5 – Clausen 4 (Fornes -).

    AVA (4-3-3): Esson 7 – Dahl 5, Decker 5, Polkinghorne 6, Utvik 6 (Løvås -) – Tennebø 5, Tvedten 6, Ajibade 7 – Magnusdottir 5 (Norheim -), Thorsnes 4, Jøsendal 5.

    Vålerenga 4 – 2 LSK Kvinner
    1-0 Synne Jensen 28
    2-0 Sigrid Heien Hansen 45
    3-0 Dejana Stefanovic 49
    3-1 Sophie Haug 74
    4-1 Ajara Njoya 75
    4-2 Thea Kyvåg 85

The six year long LSK dynasty is officially over! They can no longer retain the title, and a Champions League spot looks in jeopardy as well. Vålerenga were clearly superior throughout this highly entertaining televised match and could have scored half a dozen goals before the break. Their attacking football has definitely improved over the last few weeks. Only sloppiness in the latter stages of the second half brought a little excitement towards the end of the game. Coach Jack Majgaard Jensen surprised by benching Ajara Njoya, but with the hectic fixture list in November and matches in three competitions, he probably did the right thing. Njoya scored shortly after coming on after a fine Spitse assist and became the first player this season to reach ten goals. Thea Kyvåg, only 16 years old, scored her first Toppserien goal for LSK. Toppserien is now a three horse race, not four.

    VIF (4-3-3): Tompkins 5 – Thomsen 4, B.Pedersen 5, Sigurðardóttir 5, Tomter 5 (Karstensen -) – Spitse 6, Stefanovic 5, H.Hansen 7 (Nygard -) – Madsen 6 (Bott -), Markussen 6 (Ildhusøy 5), Jensen 7 (Njoya -).

    LSK (4-2-3-1): Norstrøm 3 – Røstbakken 3 (Bachor -), Gausdal 4, Brenn 3 (Ellingsen -), Woldvik 5 – Eide Lie 4, Vanhaevermaet 4 – Dahlström 4, Pedersen 3 (Kyvåg 5), Haavi 5 – Haug 5.

After this win, I definitely root for Vålerenga to win the whole thing: by squarely beating the reigning champions they showed that they deserve to take their place.

I fully respect Rosenborg's win vs Avaldsnes, that actually looks almost equally important in a title-race perspective, but I hope Vålerenga can make it.

Also this weekend: Stabæk promoted to Toppserien 2021!

They bounced right back up after only one season in the second league. They're winners with two matches to spare and beat KIL Hemne 7-0 on Saturday (incl. four goals by Melissa Bjånesøy). Three clubs battle out for the much coveted promotion play-off spot. Medkila are currently ahead there on 33 points with Øvrevoll Hosle and Hønefoss following behind on 31 points.

The behind the scenes documentary about Rosenborg and the transition from Trondheims-Ørn, which I mentioned briefly in the summary last night, actually has English subtext to my surprise. The first five episodes are out and each episode is roughly about 10 minutes long.

The documentary is called Banebryterne, which could be translated to pioneers.

    You can watch it here

    And from yesterday:

Vålerenga - LSK Kvinner on NRK

Champions League qualifier - 1st round

    Vålerenga 7 - 0 Klaksvik
    Jensen 24(p), Njoya 26, 70, Thomsen 27, Tomter 79, Bott 81, Nygard 90+1

Historic night at Intility Arena. Vålerenga's first ever match in a European competition and easy passage into the next round against opponents from the Faroe Islands. I only read a play-by-play coverage from this game and didn't see it myself, but apparently there was one-way traffic and a bunch of wasted chances in addition to the seven goals. Only blemish was an injury to Synne Jensen, but hopefully not serious.

Coach Jack Majgaard Jensen kept five regular starters on the bench to begin with in this game (Jalen Tompkins, Ingibjörg Sigurdardottir, Andrine Tomter, Sherida Spitse and Rikke Madsen) obviously with the derby match and possible league decider against Lyn on Saturday in mind.

Vålerenga have drawn Gintra Universitetas in the second round of the Champions League qualifiers. The match will be played away in Lithuania on 18/19 November. That's three or four days after the last round in Toppserien. The seedings group had Vålerenga with either Gintra or a team from Cyprus, and with that in mind a relatively short plane trip to Lithuania was a good draw amidst a tough fixture list.
