Japan v Norway match coming up tomorrow in Tottori. A Japanese television channel made a report on the visiting Norwegian team.
God morgen, Norge! Martin Sjögren stiller med følgende lag i dagens privatlandskamp mot Japan. Kampen ser du direkte på NRK fra kl 05.55! #sterkeresammen pic.twitter.com/EUgu5Fo5Uz— Fotballandslaget (@nff_landslag) November 11, 2018 Japanese TV Asahi is showing the game now.
Friendly in Tottori Japan vs Norway 4-1 1-0 Kumi Yokoyama 16 2-0 Mana Iwabuchi 27 3-0 Mana Iwabuchi 55 4-0 Yuka Momiki 63 4-1 Ina Gausdal 81 I set the alarm clock at the 6:00am kick-off this morning, but still overslept the entire game. In hindsight, it was perhaps the best thing I did. I haven't seen highlights or anything. Norwegian reports hint of big domination ball possession wise for Japan, but in clear cut scoring chances a bit more even. Three players won their first caps today; Stine Hovland, Therese Åsland and Emilie Nautnes. Japan away are tough opponents and we need to have our best out there to challenge against such teams next summer. Mjelde, Thorisdottir, Herlovsen + Ada of course. Line-up: Ingrid Hjelmseth - Ingrid Moe Wold, Kristine Leine (Ina Gausdal 65), Stine Hovland, Kristine Minde - Caroline Hansen, Vilde Bøe Risa (Therese Åsland 74), Ingrid Syrstad Engen, Frida Maanum (Emilie Haavi 46), Guro Reiten - Lisa-Marie Utland (Emilie Nautnes 74)
Yes, Norway had some chances, but their finishing mostly let them down. These highlights video's editing is quite hectic at times, but I guess it gives a reasonable idea of the whole match:
Behind Hegerberg and Herlovsen there is a big drop in the talent pool among strikers at the moment. Lisa Marie Utland is next in line, but she tends to come up short when the opposition is strong. There are a few promising ones coming through the ranks in Toppserien, but still too early to tell whether they'll cut it at international level. Btw, Coach Martin Sjögren praised Japan today. The best team Norway have played against since he has been in charge (2 years).
Meanwhile, back home there is the relegation play-offs 1st leg: Lyn vs Grei 1-0 1-0 Jenny Olsen 73 The Toppserien club take a fragile 1-0 home lead against the challengers from level 2. This tie is still alive for the return leg next Sunday.
@59Amerinorsk The much sought-after Norway-Netherlands match in September. I don't think it should be geo-blocked.

Relegation play-offs today - Second leg: Grei vs Lyn 0-4 0-1 Camilla Linberg 10 0-2 Linn Huseby 30 0-3 Camilla Huseby 37 0-4 Maren Thoresen 74 Lyn win comfortably 5-0 on aggregate against the challengers from level two and remain in Toppserien. There is now only one match left on the Norwegian calendar for 2018: The NM Cup final between LSK Kvinner and Sandviken at Telenor Arena, Saturday 1 December.
Mmm, maybe I am trying to read too much into it, but two high-profile DFs from Sky Blue FC looking to be signed overseas make me wonder if people are starting to abandon the sinking ship of the New Jersey's club... What's the schedule of Norwegian league 2019? If it basically overlaps with NWSL, I could be onto something; if it's likely that both NWL and Toppserien can be played in the same year without missing too many games, then I am wrong in my assumption.
I assume that would be difficult. Toppserien 2019 runs from 23 March to 19 November with a World Cup break between 19 May and 27 July. Some of the foreign based players have special deals. I know Tameka Butt plays club ball back home in Australia during the Norwegian off-season. Butt has just extended her contract with Klepp by the way.
Ok, assuming NWSL will need next year to have some kind of break for WWC also, I guess Stott and Frisbie, with their move to Norway, indeed gave up playing in NWSL at all. This reinforces my impression that Sky Blue FC could be disbanded in 2019 and that some players, as insiders well aware of the situation, are probably leaving the ship until they can.
Embarrassing news from Norway. Avaldsnes have been denied a permanent move to the best local football ground, Haugesund stadium, where they have hosted their Champions League matches, and are left to play out on that windy potato field without stadium facilities also in the future. Local politicians claim it's because Avaldsnes is outside the municipal borders, but that seems very much like a wishful and convenient excuse. This move was supposed to kick-start a new era for the club, but now the project seems to be postponed. What triggered some anger wasn't just the decision itself, but that Vard, a men's team from level 4(!), were allowed to share the stadium with Haugesund (who play in the top men's league), and not Avaldsnes.
Let see if I understand this right, and I may have missed something since I kind of assume that it works the same way inSwden as i Norway and while that mostly is true there are exceptions. Haugesund kommune, responsible for the well being of people and clubs in Haugesund kommune, decided to make place for Vard Haugesund an 4:th tier mens's team from Haugesund kommune and not for Avaldsnes IL a 1:st tier women's team from Karmøy kommune. Is Haugesund stadion built by money from the Norwegian goverment or FA, or the Fylke? otherwise it seems reasonable for Haugesund kommune to prioritize Haugesund kommune before Karmøy kommune.
Technically, you are probably right. Haugesund stadion is owned by tax payers in that municipal, and Avaldsnes is from Karmøy next door. Arne Utvik and Avaldsnes have lobbied to be a part of Haugesund FK for quite some time now, but HFK recently turned them down after a long process. Avaldsnes' second approach was to use the Haugesund stadium paying an extra fee, but that was turned down yesterday. But now there is another twist to the plot. Avaldsnes on facebook hints there are talks going on again.
Good, for it seems it should be possible to get to a usefull solution for both parts. By the way, is it allowed for Norwegian soccer clubs to move? So that Avaldnes IL could move to Hagesund, and then be able to demand place? It is in Sweden, but after a club did that on the men's side (as far as I know for the first time ever) Swedish FA is thinking about making a rule against it (not that they can dissalow it but they can make teams that move have to restart from the bottom of the league pyramid, which would get the same result for the top tiers).
I don't know. I doubt it. Arne Utvik has tried everything in his power to get access to Haugesund and their stadium without success until now. If a move across municipal borders had been allowed, I'm pretty sure he would have done it by now. But we'll see how this new talk is going first.
You know the drill from previous years in silly season, new additions are in blue: Arna Bjørnar IN: Andrea Wilmann (fw, Stabæk) OUT: Ingrid Stenevik (df, Sandviken) Avaldsnes IN: Rebekah Stott (df, Sky Blue FC), Victoria Esson (gk, North Shore United) OUT: Luana Bertolucci (mf, unknown dest.), Andreia Rosa (df, retiring), Meryll Abrahamsen (mf, unknown dest.) Fart IN: OUT: Klepp IN: Amanda Frisbie (df, Sky Blue FC) OUT: Kolbotn IN: OUT: Ina Gausdal (df, LSK Kvinner) LSK Kvinner IN: Heidi Ellingsen (mf, Stabæk), Therese S. Åsland (mf, Røa), Elise Thorsnes (fw, Utah Royals), Ina Gausdal (df, Kolbotn) OUT: Sigridur Gardarsdottir (mf, IBV), Ida Fjordbakk (df, unknown dest.), Cathrine Dekkerhus (mf, possible retirement) Lyn IN: OUT: Røa IN: OUT: Therese S. Åsland (mf, LSK Kvinner), Line Holter (mf, retiring) Sandviken IN: Ingrid Stenevik (df, Arna Bjørnar) OUT: Stabæk IN: OUT: Heidi Ellingsen (mf, LSK Kvinner), Andrea Wilmann (fw, Arna Bjørnar) Trondheims-Ørn IN: OUT: Vålerenga IN: OUT:
Hmm.. Not reported anywhere on Røa's channels yet, but that's often very typical in Norwegian woso. The bad news when top player is leaving takes a looong time to announce. May be to not disappoint potential sponsors. New players, however, are a big story in social media. Even when current players are extending their contracts.
