I´m looking for the complete list of nicknames of the RM players. I know only this ones: Figo= Lucho Zidane= Harry Potter Roberto Carlos= Gladiador Cambiasso= Aladino Makelele= Anaconda Raul= Angel (I don´t remember the other ones) If someone knows the rest let us know. Gilstar 10
Those are the nick names more used by the people, that i remember: Zidane - Zizou Morientes - El moro Jose Maria Gutierrez - Guti Steve McManaman - Macca Portillo -Portigol Historic players: Di stefano - "La saeta rubia" Butragueño - "El buitre" Gento - "la galerna del cantabrico" José Martinez Sanchez - Pirri Redondo - "El principe" Nicknames for the team: Merengues, Vikingos, Los blancos
Oh yes, Morientes is El Moro. But I made a mistake: El Angel is not Raul, is Guti. Anyway I will take note in the next games to have the anothers nicks.
Well, I see the Dream Team members has different nicks. I got others: Ronaldo= El Fenómeno (This is relly his nick) Zidane=El mago Harry Potter Roberto Carlos= El Gladiador Cambiasso= Aladino Morientes= El Moro Mc Manaman= Karate Kid Makelele= Anaconda Guti=El Angel Figo= Lucho Hierro= Gugu "El Chuchu" dont know what it means, all the Argentinians players has weird, funny, cutes or family-names heritages nicks. PD:Hey ¡¡Real Madrid DEFEATED by Racing Santander!! Believe it or not. Well, in football the big temas fail sometimes.
Finally the correct list of Nicks: Fernando Hierro: Bubu Raul: El angel de Madrid Salgado: Lorenzito Roberto carlos: El Gladiador Portillo: El angelito Mc Manaman: Karate Kid Zidane: Harry Potter Casillas: El Fantasma de Zamora Vicente del Bosque:El Bigoton Cabiasso: Aladino Makelele: Anaconda
Well these are the nicknames I know/hear excluding the ones already mentioned for some Real Madrid players :- Raul - el niño,el futuro [especially common in Raul's younger days] Zidane - el maestro,el Zid Roberto Carlos - el cañon Solari - el indiecito Hierro - el jefe Casillas - Ikerman D Bosque - el mister Makelele - el Monstruo Figo - Besides the ones already mentioned Figo have alot of rather "bad nicknames" from the Barca fans such as Judas and pesetero . Some Real Madrid oldies : Mijatovic - el gomina [due to his hair I believe] Redondo - el alma Zamora - el divino Gento - el supersónico Oh also Cambiasso is nicknamed Cuchu because he resemble Cuchuflito who is a TV star [I don't know who this Cuchuflito is, I just heard Cambiasso resembles him].
I've heard of the nicknames MadridForever provided (and Ronaldo's and Cambiasso's nicknames provide dby others) but I have never heard of any of the names Gilstar came up with. Where have you heard these nicknames? I've never heard any fans or media refer to any of these players by those names before.
Those are the nicks for the RM players on ESPN deportes. Those are the nicks commentators says on games by ESPN. You can check out www.espndeportes.com
Guti no es el angel ni el angelito, Raul es el "Angel de Madrid" Martin, ESPN LatinAmerica has some quite good announcers and they gave the players those nicks. Certainly Cambiasso is nicknamed after former argentinian comedian cuchuflito, but that was back in 1991 when his teammates noted he used to walk the same way cuchuflito did.
Thanks Gilstar and Mario for the information. I haven't heard ESPN Latin America's announvcers ina few years but both Balado and Tapia are excellent. I do miss their commentary. I see La Liga games and Champion's League matches at a pub here in los Angeles which picks up the ESPN Latin America feed but they have the broadcasts in English. While ESPN's English language announcers are pretty good, they aren't at the same level as the Spanish langauge ones are. But I still think ESPN's Spanish announcers are the only ones calling many of those players by those nicknames!
Yes, maybe, but many local tv follow that nicks or just create a new ones: Now Zinedine is also "El extraterrestre". They do it for fun. But I still think ESPN's Spanish announcers are the only ones calling many of those players by those nicknames! [/B][/QUOTE]
