After observing the national team for many matches, I think these players are the best and good enough to form the core (this is not starting 11):
    - GK: Zeng Cheng
    - DF: Zhang Linpeng; Zheng Zheng; Wu Xi
    - MF: Zheng Zhi; Zhang Chengdong; Yu Hanchao; Wu Lei; Sun Ke; Zhang Xizhe
    - AT: Gao Lin

Your thoughts? Any more I've missed out?

No Yu Dabao? He was arguably China's best player at the EAFF Cup

The Chinese FA has announced a 50-man list, think this is the final list to narrow down before Asia Cup.

Yes, the key players are coming back at last. Hope Perrin can narrow down the list quickly, there's not much time left.

Players I think that definitely should be selected in the final 23:
    - Zeng Cheng, Yu Hanchao, Zhang Linpeng, Zheng Zhi, Huang Bowen, Gao Lin, Feng Xiaoting, Zheng Zheng, Zhang Chendong, Zhang Xizhe, Yu Hai, Yu Dabao, Wu Lei, Wu Xi, Sun Ke

    Your thoughts?

No Yu Dabao in our 23 squad, Zhou Jiabao?

He hasn't a great season, but it's still a quality player...

Yu Dabao's been pretty poor this season and even though he is a good player, he hasn't been on form at all this season. His performances at the moment just doesn't warrant a call-up for a major international tournament.

If the rumor is true, then Perrin would probably lose his job next year. Based on China's strength now, there's no way they will ever make it into top four. If China somehow made it into the Quarter-finals, they would most probably have to take on either the far stronger South Korea or the hosts Australia, which would mean goodbye for Perrin. Perhaps the CFA may want to try to rope Lippi in again for the coach hot-seat after that?

There really needs to be some stability in the team, you can't just change managers every few years or so, nothing will be achieved.

Wait what? o_O Why is Perrin already going to get fired? The CFA can't possibly be that naive thinking they can get into the top four or finals.

The CFA has made some really dumb decisions over the years (for example: JOSE ANTONIO CAMACHO).

Should've never been hired in the first place. Gao Hongbo was doing a pretty good job, but then the CFA decided to sack him to bring in a foreign manager who had different ideas.

Yes, I agree Gao should have never been fired. Camacho was terrible, Fu Bo continued the rot (under him China has even forgotten how to attack!).

Based on the performance of Perrin so far, he has some ideas, I think he will do better than the previous two coaches, but I think he won't do much given the bad situation China soccer is in. The overall calibre of the players have been weakening over the years. Until the CFA becomes more stable and stop changing managers so often, the domestic league gets stronger (more local players in playmaker/goalscorer spots please!), I don't think there will be any change for the better. The U19 players (e.g. Xiang Baixu) look promising, I hope they go to Europe and do well there. Don't come back to CSL, they'll probably be abandoned on the bench and waste their talent.

This 2015, I don't expect much, as long as China wins at least one game I'll be happy. Hope CFA doesn't sack Perrin, and if they do, find a competent coach who knows the Chinese game well (e.g. Lippi).

I think Lippi has already made it clear that he doesn't want to coach China's NT (Lets be honest, who does?). He rejected the offer so thats why the CFA went with Perrin. If there is one coach that I want to see the CFA hire is Iran's coach from the WC. That guy's defensive tactics will greatly improve Chinese football. Wu Lei and Zhang Linpeng seriously need to gtfo from the CSL. They are way too good to not be in Europe. I can possibly see three Chinese players moving to Europe this winter: Zhang Xizhe, Wu Lei, and Zhang Linpeng.

Carlos Queiroz. Former Manchester United assistant manager under Ferguson. The man is tactically brilliant.

China's 23-man squad for this October:
    http://sports.sina.com.cn/n/2014-09-29/16337352594.shtml

GK: Zeng Cheng, Wang Dalei, Yan Junling.
DF: Zhang Linpeng, Mei Fang, Li Xuepeng, Feng Xiaoting, Lei Tenglong, Ren Hang, Wu Xi.
MF: Zheng Zhi, Yu Hanchao, Liao Lisheng, Zhang Chengdong, Yu Hai, Zhang Jiaqi, Jiang Zhipeng, Cai Huikang, Wu Lei, Sun Ke.
FW: Gao Lin, Han Peng, Yang Xu.

Seems as though Perrin is still having troubles with looking for a reliable goalscorer (hence his inclusion of Han Peng who hasn't been playing for the NT awhile), and still needs to solidify his choice of defenders (no more poor defense - as seen in Mali and Jordan matches). And again, why did they exclude Zhang Xizhe?

WTF why Han Peng??? I would've chosen Yu Dabao over him. Also some of the defender choices are horrible. No Zhang Xizhe, no Huang Bowen...

Holy sh!t his choice of personal is really eccentric. Like why is Yu Dabao and Zhang Xizhe not on the NT? Even Chen Zhizhao would have been a better choice than Han Peng. Once again China is going to be beset by lack of offensive power upfront. *facepalm*

Why is it that almost every manager China has had always makes the weirdest player selections?

I wonder why Wu Xi is always listed as a defender when he usually plays in the midfield, where imo he excels. He has been playing very well lately for Jiangsu in a more attacking midfield role. He also was one of the better players when he played a central mid against Kuwait.

Never mind about Yu Hai. I'd put in Liu Binbin for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup instead.
