He's been this way since he was in Santos. If you go back and read my posts regarding him, I heavily highlighted this part of his play. Some attempt to make it about what side he is playing on but that is bullshit. He has a tendency to just coast or even hide. He also doesn't try creativity as if he fears failure. He needs to outgrow that shit fast. As I have said on here, he has what Vinicius needs and Vinicius has what he needs.
If he has been like that since Santos, I would be surprised if he changes. We have a better chance with Vin getting more polished
Both players can (will) come good, they just need go grow out of their comfort zones to develop their full potential. Put it like this, Rodrygo for me was on autopilot most of that City match. He finally decides to cast away his doubts and makes a creative move forward and he immediately gets an assist for our first goal. He needs to break that part of him that is either too scared or too complacent.
Seems like the majority of this forum never lifted a weight.. He gained a tiny bit of muscle and majority is water weight and fat. You can literally see that his face is chubbier.
Lmao not quite, but he’s certainly bigger than he was a year ago, anybody who claims otherwise needs some coffee.
Literally no one said he didn't grow, ffs he is still a teenager. He just didn't bulk up. He isn't significantly bigger or ripped. The kid just has another year of life under his belt. Also Umar was being sarcastic.
Don’t think anyone claimed that he is now Arnold Schwarzenegger either, At least not on this forum; the OP simply said that he gained some muscles and looks a little bigger, not sure what’s so controversial about that, given the kind of training these guys undergo ( and the fact that he’s still a boy ) it’s very easy to see that happening, especially when they are actually dedicated.
Rodrygo: "In Madrid I started to play more on the right. It has been a process of adaptation, but it gives me options not only to do it at the club, but also in the National Team. And that favors me."— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) October 12, 2020 Rodrygo: "Working at Madrid with Zidane makes it easier for me to play in the wings. When I realized I'd have more opportunities if I learned to play both ways, he was very important to me." pic.twitter.com/bRX3F1tQJb— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) October 12, 2020 Rodrygo: “Since the start at Santos they made comparisons with me & Neymar-Robinho. I always wanted to be Rodrygo, to make my story. They already have theirs. I'm still starting. There is only one Neymar & Robinho. I've always tried to take off that weight, I try to be Rodrygo."— M•A•J (@Ultra_Suristic) October 12, 2020

Now has 5 goals and 3 assists in 8 Champions League matches. Needs to play closer to the goal, he isn't that much of a creative winger. Possibly, the best finisher in the team ( with respect to taking his chances.)
Yeah we need to find a way to incorporate him in the team (in the future). I seriously would try him as a false 9 in that Benz role, if he adds a bit of muscle we could turn him into our Firmino, he has the technique, insight and finishing.
I think he can be more impactful if he plays closer to the center, as close as possible to the penalty area. He is wasted at the wing or when he is too far from the penalty area.
On a positive note, this kid provided some spark when he came on, most( as little as that was ) of our danger came from him and Odegaard. Good cameo.
He should have started instead of Asensio. He deserves a chance, especially after scoring the vital goal against Inter. Asensio does nothing game after game and he keeps starting.
As he typically does against tired legs. Its already been talked about. His best role right now is 12th man.
