DeSantis could be a compelling candidate in 2024 - Yale, Harvard Law, big state governor experience. Interesting situation.

Obviously a bad candidate to any progressive Dem, but a more legit candidate to conservatives and more middle of the roaders. At least he's not running around spouting Qanon stuff and election fraud conspiracies AFAIK.

In the GDR you didnt have to register your views because the state already "knew them" so you didnt go to university in the first place. GDR > Florida

Florida is a politically illiterate state ....

Anyone ever listen to Rick Scott (forget Rubio - he's just a wind-up toy). Scott's the closer for any betting man on a "he's stupider than your candidate" bet.

Anyone mention to that clown De Santis that the reason they don't teach clubbing woman over head and dragging back to cave in Florida Univesity is that it has been analyzed and found to be not good for either party.
The reason, he would also find, if he chose to look and shut up for once, that socialism is catching on among the young in Florida Universities is that, uninstitutionalized political socialist policy (hint to deliverate-illiterates like Ron and Tucker Carlson =not the C.C.C.P. or Ho Chi Minh) is generally good for the mass of the people, and generally only not in the absolute interests of the super wealthy elites.
It is not a threat, and has never presented one in any democratic society where it has been tried from time to time. I will bet Ron De Santis his year's salary one that one ...
    fvcking idiots ...

For someone who is self-described as a moderate it's pretty rich that you can't acknowledge how much more destructive the months long riots that brought death and destruction were than 150 idiots trespassing.

    ******* * ***** * **************** * *********

150?? are you out of your mind??? I''l bet you last year's salary there were at least 1000 of those scum in the Capitol??? Or my eyes are wonky. Aside from all that -

Have you ever stopped to think how this (what you are saying) misses a very key point. Let me walk you through this.

Rioters usually riot about a problem? Some perceived (societally organically generating) problem or other. Right? We agree there? Toxteh/Brixton 81 . LA 92 Watts 66, Paris 68, etc

Rioters who throw things at police on the street are rioters, and most reasonable people would agree that often they are allowed get away with many of those out of control actions insofar as police can hold their lines? Police often decide not to instantiate a massacre where they have the guns. Police could have shot all th epeople in th eCapitol or all th epeople running amok on Western or Crrenshaw in 92.
Not good ideas, most would agree here too - but feel free to tell me if you disagree.

Rioters who loot are not rioters on the street. Some of them may and likely were, but they are not the same people across the board. They are a specific subset. and they ARE engaging in arrant criminality. I agree. (So do they probably.)
(Why? Often due to socio-econmomic position and a breakdown of general law and order on the nights concerned. I would never consider taking a TV in a riot. The punishment for being caught and prosecuted makes it just not worth my while.) There is no end game or plan in riots usually. There is no attempt to be able to storm Marshalls or The Home Depot EVERY NIGHT. There is no attempt to destabilze the structure we live under, only to disrespect the privat eproperty of some fewer number. This is illegal, and should be, but it is what, and it is all that, any social riot usually is.

Any disagreement there?? (Please feel free to tell me where I am wrong in any of this.)

Problem - outside of the media channels you seem to be watching (as far as I can tell) no reasonable person anywhere else on the 'effin' planet would make a twinning equation of these two types of riots.

The people on Jan 6th were
A). Rioting about something that does not exist.
B).They were lied to. They were also being manipulated by groups (oathkeepers, etc) that no sane society should put up with. Here's another FACT. No fulcrum clown like Rudy Clown-face DARED bring ANY allegations of fraud into any courtroom, whilst continually propagating statements in the news AS IF THEY WERE, IN FACT, DOING EXACTLY THIS!!
And when asked by a judge if they were alleging fraud, Rudy, fearing perjury, said NO. This is a FACT. IT EXISTS. Put that on Fox News 24-7.

Yet, people believe otherwise enough to riot, maim and kill (some of these scum would have, believe me - in crowd violence, bad things happen that take characters outside their norms - Keep in Mind -most lynchers wouldn't have hung any black man alone in the Jim Crow South). I feel sorry for these people. that they want to listen to the bile that continulaly emerges from the rotten mouth of one of the most poisonous human beings in history, but they do and that is their own styupid choice just as driving when you are blacked out drunk is, except that one is even less of a choice. That's their life - that's an outgrowth of the pox that has affected the American politic (which was peculiarly badly insulated against it in terms of the way the other advanced democracies are) for the last 40 years or so ...
They are, sadly (a lot of them) intellectually stupid. That's not an insult. That's a ********ing fact. They can't follow a logical argument. If every person in a position of authority about elections (non-partisan) tells you the system is working correctly and a person chooses to believe the voice that speaks nonsense against them, that person should ask themselves why they don;t (or expect their aged family member to) act the same way when they are sick at the hospital and the specialist doctor (experts) prescribe treatment? Why not instead rely on what the ranting doorman says about all doctors being wrong as you are leaving the building???
I WILL GUARANTEE YOU that when Fvcker Carlson gets sick he won't be doing that. He'll be listening to the doctors.(If some lovely minded individual doesn't get him and cut his fvcking cr@p spewing throat first .....)

    So, with all that said-
The rest of us do not owe this stupidity any kind of hearing. Just as we don't owe holocaust deniers a hearing. Get the fvck out of here... "150 idiots" ... (are you fvcking serious or were you just trying to piss Sam off -- if so - I've been doing that for two decades, and I don't have to resort to Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter shyte numbers to do it) you should be bloody ashamed of yourself even writing that. It was a vast mob of fvcking clowns, whose capacity for intellectual understanding is retarded by bullsh!t and listenening to constant rubbish shat on them out the anuses of Laura Ingrasham and the un-dearly departed verbal-Fartman Limbaugh et al, over and over again and then for good measure, over and over again .. yet, never apparently holding any kind of logical argumet with anyone of note...

Riots happen.- yes, we know, everyone knows, and property is destroyed in riots. Riots have underlying actual causes (99% of the time).
But it is both a scientific error and a major moral error to try to compare jan 6th to any other riot, as its entire generative logic and rationale are based on a TOTAL FALSEHOOD. I (as an American citizen) do not have to put up with that.

The basic problem here, when stripped down on any sensibly moderated forum, is that Mitch McConnell does not belive that in a two party system it is incumbent upon the loser to allow due process when the policies of one party are anathema to a significant majority of the people.
That's fine. Alexander the Great would have probably agreed. Ditto Napoleon. However it it simply stated, NOT A POLITICALLY DEMOCRATIC POSITION.

watching the semi on Friday, and today's match, his mental game is streets ahead of the other players - except for Rafa and Roger. he simply never loses his cool or his concentration. he meditates a couple of hours a day, and it shows.

Mental game was definitely tested today after blowing that first set.
Roger was the greatest. Nadal's record off clay doesn't warrant the 'greatest' title and I don't think he should be included in the convo.
But Djoker, winning all 20 in the era of the Big 3/4, is the best the game has seen. Can't see anybody beating him at the Open, either.

I did hear they named some drummer after him.

And now to catch up on the Tour in the Pyrenees Andorra.

Drove through Andorra once between Spain and France as an alternative route. It was misty and pissed down the whole ride. Then the engine blew the bearings near Toulouse. A different long tale.
    Ah, happy days.
