I feel that she’s giving him a dirty look. It’s just a bit odd seeing her there. No French woman immigrant would be in the same frame as that disgusting pig.
I can directly speak for one French woman immigrant, my mother, who is absolutely revolted at the sight and sound of him.
Marty Baron put it more eloquently but, yeah. On political endorsement https://t.co/e5OTZhylIE This is cowardice, with democracy as its casualty. @realdonaldtrump will see this as an invitation to further intimidate owner @jeffbezos (and others). Disturbing spinelessness at an institution famed for courage.— Marty Baron (@PostBaron) October 25, 2024
Publisher Will Lewis posted his explanation on Twitter this afternoon: We recognize that this will be read in a range of ways, including as a tacit endorsement of one candidate, or as a condemnation of another, or as an abdication of responsibility. That is inevitable. We don’t see it that way. We see it as consistent with the values The Post has always stood for and what we hope for in a leader: character and courage in service to the American ethic, veneration for the rule of law, and respect for human freedom in all its aspects. We also see it as a statement in support of our readers’ ability to make up their own minds on this, the most consequential of American decisions – whom to vote for as the next president. Our job at The Washington Post is to provide through the newsroom non-partisan news for all Americans, and thought-provoking, reported views from our opinion team to help our readers make up their own minds. Most of all, our job as the newspaper of the capital city of the most important country in the world is to be independent. And that is what we are and will be. Really, really poor work, Mr. Lewis. Back in journalism school your prof would surely have told you that "'Democracy dies in darkness', my ass" is more than sufficient
I did not. But I did just check out some one and two star reviews of the book on Amazon. They're pretty funny.
Josh Marshall has a post stating the obvious…Bezos (and other major leaders, your Jamie Dimons, etc.) know Democrats won’t punish them, but Trump will. That’s why I believe it is very, very important for Harris to change that narrative if she wins. Democracy can’t survive if it’s heads I win, tails we flip the coin again until it’s heads. There needs to be a reckoning for those who were neutral NOT about tax rates, or health care policy, but about democracy itself. The former is understandable, the latter means you don’t really deserve the protections of pluralistic democracy. So you don’t get them until you show you’re worthy.
Make an example of Elon Musk. A major US govt. contractor being in contact with the leader of a hostile power is criminal. The Rosenbergs were electrocuted for less.
