Roman businessman Piero Tulli has worked a deal to take over 51% of the club...he will operate Lazio for the next several years in a style similar to say Udinese/Bologna and Perugia building on younger players.

And his choice for coach is: Gianluca Vialli. Not sure how I feel about that appointment, but I do like the direction Tulli will apparently take. Take a season or two to bring financial stability finally to the club and groom some younger players. Then you can build something big going forward....

Expect a total clearout of the remaning high-salaried players like Oddo, Cesar and Lopez...

Wow, big news. Vialli? It'll be interesting to say the least! Certainly not a conservative choice.

I'm surprised no news organizations have picked up this story, that I can see.

Interesting - Vialli is not what I expected. He didn't exactly work with young guns at Chelsea. My two favorite teams are coming together. Now if only Chelsea had loaned Veron back to Lazio!

I really hope we find a way to keep Cesar, even if he is a high priced player. Unfortunately, looking at the U-19 and U-23 Italy sides, I didn't see too many Lazio players. While I'd love to work through this crisis using a youth side, I don't want Lazio to become a team that gets its talent by taking Juve or Milan players on loan.
Still, whatever helps the club survive.
    Forza Lazio!

It's good to see that we are going to have some stability going forward and not have to worry about these financial problems every year.

That's the problem, we have no U-23 or U-19 nationals, those are the types to target going forward.

yes Vialli a curious choice, but at least he has a certain style...Gregucci is an unkown that last coached a bad Venezia team.

The fact that other news sources havent yet reported this deal scares me, but it seems certain. At least Lazio will continue!

seems like its down to the wire between roman businessmen Lotito and Tulli to takeover the club....perhaps they both will come in as part-owners.

If its just Lotito he favors Zoff as coach, Tulli was linked with Vialli...the decision come down on Monday.

How can a club from such a large city with such a large fan base be in such disarray? Aren't they in camp already? According to SueB's Rolling Calendar (which I DO refer to, btw ;) ) they started camp on Friday.

Yes, they're in camp, under the supervision of their primavera team coach, Mimmo Caso.

yes in fact Lazio has a match tomorrow vs a second division side in Japan, Caso has already warned the play will be "less than brilliant".

Seems like the remaining high salaried guys like Oddo and Lopez are with the team at least for now...

Sounds like Lotito wants Zoff as director with Caso remaining on as coach...I'd still make a run at Spalletti with Udinese first.

Lotito has also said Cesar and Oddo will stay as long as it fits a "technical requirement"....but he has stressed consolidation so I'm sure Lopez and Inzaghi are gone which is no big deal...

Err, don't we want to keep at least one of them? We'd be down to Muzzi as our only striker!
So long as Cesar stays.......and where's our stuff for Mancio! Damn Inter - getting Veron for free AND taking our coach.

Does this mean you hate Inter Milan most in Serie A? For some strange reason, I like Veron too. Ironic huh, because he has played for Man Utd and Chelsea, Arsenal's biggest rivals....guess I just like good football. And what's wrong with that?

I have heard that Mancini is THE man. how true is that?

 Of course not. That would be the team of cheating, diving and spitting girly-men: Roma.
What were Inter supposed to do? Turn down Veron on a free?

    A. Veron made his name at Parma and LAZIO. He's on record saying he'd love to finish his career in Rome. So yes, I like Seba.
    B. Chelsea are most certainly not Arse's biggest rivals. That'd be Tottenham.

He was a wonderful player (underutilized by the Italian national team, imho) and has been an excellent coach thus far.

yeah, where are the players from inter for mancio? I assume that will be settled soon....still hoping we can get Cruz at least on loan. He's third behind Vieri and Adriano in the central striker role there, so maybe he's attainable.

If you had Cruz-Muzzi up front that's decent with a midfield of Cesar-Giannichedda-Liverani and returning Manfredini on the RW thats ok. There will be no depth nor central defenders tho...

After many delays of this much-anticipated announcement, Lazio has named .... drumroll, please .... Mimmo Caso as the new head coach. Something tells me he was probably not the first choice all along, but his price was certainly right. No word on whether Zoff will be involved in any way.
