By the way, sport.ro is reporting that Olympique Lyon in France is also interested in Louis Munteanu but that DC United has officially made an offer for Munteanu that may be too good to refuse. Whomever wrote the article speculated about whether DC United could actually win a transfer of player that a club of the level of Lyon might want, too.

We can’t wait to see you at Audi Field for another unforgettable night.
Kristian Fletcher says goodbye to DC United on Instagram. The teammate reactions in the comments give a general vibe of surprise and being upset. Perhaps most notable is this comment: So far it’s been liked by one person, Kristian’s father. Kind of says everything about the current state of the team, doesn’t it?
The "belief" in the "quality" of Kristian Fletcher by the fanbase in general shows the FO rot has spread to the fans as well. This is of a similar type to the "let's sign Eryk Williamson" posts on the subreddit. A guy who couldn't get off the bench for a mediocre Charlotte team as it was making a playoff push. I was never impressed by Fletcher in his limited minutes with DCU. He is not very fast and drifts in and out of games. He has had two runouts in Europe - one of them a lengthy stay at Forest on loan -- that resulted in Forest cancelling the loan early and returning Fletcher to DCU. Presently he is rehabbing an ACL injury incurred in mysterious circumstances and probably won't be at full speed until midseason. He always had his eye on Europe and really didn't want to be here. DCU cutting ties with him is not unusual or misguided. The FO certainly doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt, but this move is one virtually any team would make with a young talent that hasn't panned out.
He’s 20 years old and has by far the highest ceiling on the team from a technical perspective. He's not perfect, but he’s still more than 9 months from being able to have a legal drink. I think it’s a bit early to be writing him off, although he’s got his work cut out for him now coming off of an ACL as a free agent.
How do y’all add images/screenshots in here and not run into file size restrictions? Tried to add a screenshot of his post and just get an error. Here’s a link to the post - best I can figure out how to share
He may still turn out to be a solid player somewhere but this won't be in the top 10 of bad decisions I expect the FO/Technical staff in the next year. He's not a potential Messi, he's not even a potential Najar.
I’m not saying he’s a future DP, and none of us know the full story, especially about young players, off the field. On a team filled with massive holes, it strikes me as odd to add another one where there wasn’t. It’s also disappointing to see how disenfranchised a former academy player’s family is about this. That’s an overwhelming sentiment across the youth landscape here, and indicative of a much larger problem than any single young player that’s come up through the ranks.
The youth teams for DC have always been a problem and sucesses out of them have been dumb luck. This along with many other problems is why I'm non plussed about Fletcher. I wish DC United was run well enough for a Fletcher-like situation to be a top problem.
You can select add media button and put the share link from the social media post into it. I think it supports a few different social media formats.
It could be proprietary with Instagram. I clicked on your link, but it would not allow me to plug a link into the "Image URL" function, or to paste directly into this post.
I've got my eye on this: https://www.80stees.com/cdn/shop/fi...t.master_500x750_crop_center.png?v=1762270228
Fair point! It’s depressing how many of the top free agents aren’t being brought back by their team for one reason or another but would be a significant upgrade on the current roster here.
I hear you! I think I'd be underwhelmed if DC doesn't at least come away from early free agency without a massive goalie upgrade given how many are available. I'll be overwhelmed if they manage the goalie AND an upgrade somewhere else. So I guess whelmed is a goalie for me?
By the way, Goff reported a couple hours ago that DC tried to re-sign Kristian Fletcher after declining his option, but that ship has officially sailed and it won't be happening.
Who knows. Maybe it had to do with contract length or some kind of "show us you can stay healthy and make progress" incentives/escalators he wasn't happy with, too.
