Because Osimhen is not elite talent or a prolific scorer despite being a lot older. Endrick is an elite talent like Vini so reward is high for the risk. Also Napoli spent 70 M on Osimhen so if you know how their president works, he's not gonna be available for 100 M especially when they are the Serie A favourites.
Editing a comp of Enzo Fernandez for UEFA, he’s so good to watch. If Madrid fail to sign Bellingham, he should be the one they go all out for. Brilliant tempo setter, breaks lines with ease. Isn’t as good as Jude in the final third, but has different technical strengths— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) December 7, 2022
To clarify one point: there’s no way for Real Madrid to bring Endrick to Europe in 2023. International rules only allow Endrick to arrive in July 2024, when he turns 18. ⚪️🇧🇷 #RealMadridReal are prepared to invest more than €60m now as they consider Endrick a special talent. pic.twitter.com/E6dCQWWEvW— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) December 7, 2022
What's weird is you not mentioning that both Napoli and Lille officials were arrested for fraud around the Osimhen transfer. Do our brown brothers from Brazil deserve any less trust from you or what's the deal there?
Why? It’s 60M which is ok. The 12M added is the taxes which RM had to pay. If it was 60 only, so it’s been 48M. Endrick in few years imo will be worth above 100M
“Outbid” by two million. Unfortunately a financial chasm Qatar could not leap over. The buyout is 60M. Palmeiras would have presumably asked any club which made it to the final table to pay the taxes because they have a lot of leverage here. Right or wrong, I see it as the cost of doing business in this marketplace, for any club, not just ours. The way I see it Endrick is a player for the future. Once the papers are signed I won’t even think about him for another year and occasionally read @YOUNGSTARS87 reports who actually watches Brazilian league games. I’m more interested in what we are going to do to make the squad better in the coming summer. Operation Bellingham. Decision on Asensio. Adding an attacker. Decision on Mendy (he will have 1 year left on his contract next summer).
You need to start watching the Brasileirão! I’ll be sharing comps of every single one of Endrick’s appearances next season like I used to do with Vinicius
🚨🎖️| Gvardiol is one to keep an eye on. Top clubs from Spain & England want him. There is nothing agreed yet with Chelsea. @FabrizioRomano pic.twitter.com/1uuVmop8wl— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) December 7, 2022
Endrick was a no brainer. Great buy. Those mentioning his height...not a big issue at all in my book. Some of the greatest strikers in this game have been relatively short. If this guy becomes the next Romario....all good. Seems like a killer...which is the most important thing. Now the midfield question is a big one. Our veterans don't have much left in the tank.. We've done well with Tchou and Camavinga but one more serious baller is needed. I would lean towards getting someone with some offensive creativity .... Bellingham / Kudus would be great (my dream is Musiala....but that's not really achievable right now). If Jude is too much of hassle.... Kudus could be a great steal as he has great technique and playmaking ability going forward....(might even fit better than Jude considering we already kind of have the Jude profile in Camavinga and Valverde). Gvardiol is being mentioned. If that's a real possibility....I would definitely sign him. Incredible talent... It's one of those cases of sign and figure out later. Probably would mean the end for Mendy, Nacho and Vallejo...but he's worth it. A new right back is definitely a priority. I love Dani...but the good performances are getting fewer and fewer. He's often a weak spot for us. I don't see the club signing a striker for now until two of Mariano/Hazard/Asensio are off the books. That being said...we really need one.
I will move past the 'not elite' part since the criminal underrating of Osimhen's ability is by now a consolidated paradigm around here (although one wonders how are Napoli favorites to win the league if their best player is not elite). However this summer the reports were that his price tag is 100m. What is also strange is how the same people who believe in the market determining players prices do that inconsistently and with so much cherrypicking. btw talking about Osimhen like he's not young when he's 23 years old is also quite weird. Strawman if there ever was one. The point about shady business was complementary to the main one, which is the contradictory perspective on money among posters. Ironically, dealing with Napoli for Osimhen is probably the safest right now because the lesson was learned, people were punished, and nobody would dare trying something like that twice. Meanwhile for Brazil, not knowing how much money goes to who seems to be the rule.
In Benzema's worst season in terms of health and injuries, Osimhen has played a total of 118 more minutes than Karim in all competitions this season. What problem would Osimhen solve? He has a much longer injury history than Benzema. And when both are healthy, do we expect to have a 120+ million transfer striker on the bench? Not even the oil monarchy clubs can operate in that fashion.
I think Ferland Mendy will leave if Gvardiol arrives. https://t.co/nTttNrk54T— Muddassir Hussain (@muddassirjourno) December 7, 2022 Gvardiol played LB all Euro 2020 and he was excellent. It will be similar to Ramos - a CB deployed at RB to start at Madrid but always with the view to return him to CB before long.— Terry (@TerryFooty) December 7, 2022 Someone mentioned this possibility here as well. If we get Gvardiol for high fee, either Alaba moves back to LB or Gvardiol could play there for couple of seasons. Mendy's contract renewal talks have been stalled for a while and with his contract ending in 2024, this summer might be the one to cash in.
Exciting aspect of Endrick is that he actually wants to play as a #9. We saw CR7 resist transitioning until his Juve days, Mbappe basically throwing a media tantrum about "pivot-gang." Kids growing up watched the Ronaldo/Messi era and the fantasy is to be the goal scoring wing forward who floats in from outside. You get the best of both worlds, no defensive responsibility and don't have to battle inside with big CB's. Will be interesting how, if he pans out, we line up with Vini/Endrick/Rodrygo. Rodrygo is clearly not a true right winger. Could be some sort of 4-2-3-1 Endrick Vinicius - Rodrygo - Valverde Tchouameni - Camavinga
Spaletti employs an intense rotation with Raspadori and Cholito, that explains the minutes more than injuries. As for the second question, such a scenario would only be temporary, as Benzema will inevitably transition to a bit part player soon due to age (some say he's already at this point). In the meantime, with injuries and load management, there is plenty of minutes to go around, and you can always play a two striker formation on occasions where Vini or one of the midfielders sits out. Whatever you throw, it will stay very difficult to support the argument that Endrick for 70m is a better signing than Osimhen for 100. I don't object to buying Endrick but he should ideally take over from someone like Osimhen, not from Benzema. Wouldn't mind spending Mbappay's budget on both of them actually, and leaving Bellingham and Gvardiol alone, since they are hardly needed at the moment.
Makes sense to me but not sure Gvardiol would want that as he is showing out at CB and it’s the more prestigious position. But who knows, maybe the club could convince him. Plus we still have an option on Miguel G and Fran Garcia as an option to reinforce at LB. Mendy is solid enough but still has moments that are pretty shaky and I could definitely see the club looking for more from that spot. That said, if he extends I wouldn’t be super upset either. Any chance we try to cash in on Rudiger?
Yeah this was my thought. If Alaba plays LB, great. If Gvardiol does a Ramos and plays LB until a slot opens at CB, fine too - not like Mendy is offering anything offensively anyway. From what I've heard Gvardiol is actually decent marauding forward. Need clarification on Gvardiol's release clause as well - some saying it's 50m, some saying there is none. I'd be willing to pay ~20M + whatever we get for Mendy (~40-50m). What do we think the market is for Mendy? Could work City - they don't really have a true left back do they? Pep has a fetish for wingbacks. Newcastle - could work but he'd have to be willing to go there Inter - could maybe use as a CB, but can they afford? Spurs - could maybe use, but can they afford? Won't work Juve - can't afford and probably getting relegated. Bayern - Davies Liverpool - Robertson Chelsea - Chillwell & Cucurella Barca - obvious PSG - Mendes and hate our guts Atleti - Reguilon & Reinildo Arsenal - Zinchenko United - Shaw, probably have other areas they need to address first
Agree with you points. To be honest, I'm really surprised that people think that the most coveted young player in the whole of the South American continent would go for anything less than 60m, given inflation and the current climate for transfer fees.
No way I see the club selling Rudiger in the summer, reports are that he's extremely happy and has integrated well with the squad. Also, he's been happy coming off the bench, playing as a right back or left back, I don't see him being disposable in any scenario.
Rudiger might have some issues if he stays on the bench in big games this season. He's valued highly in PL.
I think it's fair to assume that Endrick should be eased in. We threw Vinicius into the fire basically just a few months after his arrival and it paid off, but even then we went and bought Hazard who at least took some minutes and responsibility off of Vini's shoulders in his teenage years. What I don't think is fair to assume yet is that Benzema is washed and/or becoming a bit part player already. Your argument of transitioning Endrick in could very well be conducted by Benzema himself. If he is as dusted as some people here suggest, the club won't have a choice but to find a starting stopgap measure very soon. But I don't think the club needs to make that conclusion for at least another 6 months. Perhaps all that will be needed is a proper replacement for Mariano in a backup role to Benzema for a year or two. Benzema could recover and possibly give us another few years. Perhaps he doesn't, but now is not the time to make that decision just yet. The guy was unanimously the best player on the planet just a few months ago. Perhaps he can't replicate that level again, but I'm sure he can replicate a level from a few years ago that will be more than enough. An investment into Osimhen would likely block Endrick for 6-10 years, which isn't a workable timeline.
He can play LB like Ramos used to play RB is the best way to explain it. I think he can do a good job but would be a bit wasted there.
Buying Enrick basically handicaps us for the next 5-7 years from buying anyone of significance in the forward spot. I hope he pans out and is the WC player everyone has made him already. Clubs plan is to let Benz carry on for as long as he wants and fill in a support role with someone cheap and or Rodrygo (assuming we can get him to renew) while Endrick develops. I think if Mbappe is contrite and kisses the ring, we’d be back in for him but apart from that happening (which is less than 5%) we’re not going to make any significant moves in attack for the foreseeable future. Bellingham is not going to happen, so we need to find someone to fill up Kroos’ spot (I have a feeling he’s retiring)and Ceballos in a rotational one as well (promote maybe). Dani is firmly in RB he’s not going anywhere and his contract is to 2025. No one of WC quality is coming for a back up role. Mendy could go, but not sure if there is anyone available that Flo likes to supplant him. Unfortunately Asensio will get his renewal. God help me. It’s going to be relatively quiet in the transfer market for us.
🚨💣 Liverpool and Bellingham are ‘very, very close’. @cfbayern @TheAnfieldWrap— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) December 7, 2022 Damn. I had a feeling that when Liverpool lost out on Tchouameni they would go all out for Jude.
