Ellen Popeyus always had a passion for football. But growing up in the Netherlands in the 1960s, it was still pretty unusual for girls.
"I played football from five or six years old, with the boys, on the sidewalk," says Ellen. "Every free minute I played. The boys I played with were OK with that... but it wasn't normal at the time."

FC Twente beats Feyenoord and moves up one spot

In the Women's Eredivisie, PSV suffered its first defeat on Saturday. The team from Eindhoven went down 3-2 at FC Utrecht, which is now only one point behind PSV third. FC Utrecht's winning goal came from the head of Maxime Snellenberg. Ajax, like PSV, has nineteen points, but will be in action against Telstar on Sunday.
Furthermore, there were two more right-side of the table meetings on the program on Saturday. Excelsior - Fortuna Sittard and PEC Zwolle - ADO Den Haag both ended in 1-1.
The reigning champion FC Twente has risen one place in the rankings after the victory over Feyenoord. Orange Lionesses need experienced players for easy win over China

The Orange Lionesses had a difficult evening against China, until the experienced forces came into the team. In the end, the three points remained in the Netherlands. After the arrival of the key players, Andries Jonker's team had no problem with the opponent. It ended in 4-1.
On a very cold evening at Het Kasteel, the Netherlands started the game quite changed. They were mainly talented girls, who were given one more chance by Jonker to put themselves in the spotlight towards the European Championships. Chimera Ripa, Nina Nijstad, Ilse van der Zanden and Lotte Keukelaar, among others, were allowed to show themselves.
