Hot Water? Fugazi? Jawbeaker? Early Rancid? Good stuff, didnt realize anyone listened to any combo of that Tool/Rage and good hip hop and jazz Saw Planes Mistaken... live once, never heard them before, very loud and goo dlive, one of my friend's picks.
i was into no idea records bands for a while. hot water was their big name. i had heard of planesmistaken... but hadn't really listened to them much. their second album was a lot harder than the first, which had come out on deep elm. deep elm was an indie/emo label from new york, initially, but moved south because their owner liked nascar(???????). don't know if you've heard of it, but check out the "we fest", online. a great collection of bands from around the country. it's an annual event here. thanks celery. i'm surprised that anybody remembers them.
somebody slap me. metallica has a new album out. really. somebody slap me. i thought they were done after the last album. worth checking out. i hope.
This is Metallica v2. They lost all credibility when the cut their hair. It's a different, more commercial band now.
eddie, yah, commercial. really. i've only heard the one song, and i'm not real impressed. it's all out of wack, metallica. time to drop it. they don't even sound metal anymore.
Ben Folds has a new album coming out, was lucky enough to hear some new songs when he came to Ann Arbor.
The album is on his website. Still my favorite musician. He's a genius. He sucks at marriage though. I've been listening to the Pogues a ton the last month or so.
Good god I love Ben Folds. Only got a chance to listen to the single cos I'm on my way out to work, but I like it. He gets ZERO press over here, it sucks ass. And there's no sign of it on the uk itunes store.
Don't worry, he doesn't get much press here either. I always find that interesting when someone is huge in America and England's never heard of him. Dave Matthews comes to mind. I around 2001 I was in England and I saw a handbill advertising him being at some church in London.
Have you all heard about Ben leaking a 'fake' version of Way To Normal? It has the real You Don't Know Me and Hiroshima, plus a different version of Cologne, and then 6 tracks that the guys just made up and recorded one night in the studio, to deter people from leaking the real thing. It's actually quite good!
Lucky bastard. I really wanted to go to that show. The lawn should be closed off too so all the morons won't be able to go. On a side note, I LOVE this Genius app in the new iTunes. It makes the best playlists.
It's a 5 hour drive...and I'll be going home to Philly for Christmas so I don't want to make the drive twice in one week. I can't take vacay days from work yet either.
