I knew it wasn't him, but plenty of people bring in a backup vox. I didn't make the Ronnie Spector connection until about a decade ago, because I had not heard HER song.
This popped up in my feed today. . . haven't heard it in awhile... In many ways the antithesis of Sakamoto... in other ways, probably not. Then there was the ever-present football player rapist they were all in love with dying they were doing it in Texas. . .
Can is fantastic, both the Malcolm Mooney and Damo Suzuki eras, though they’re completely different. Jaki Liebezeit is one of my favorite drummers.
I saw him live around 1999-2000. Not exactly an exciting show but I’m very glad I got to see him. He looked more like one of the roadies, black t-shirt, greasy hair, drinking a bottle of Bud between songs. And then that voice incongruously coming out of that frame. With a shy little “thanks” here and there being his only interaction with the audience.
Something really good to be rewarded like this, obviously. I like the Spice Girls / Slipknot one. Taking is to easy / You can take it or leave it or die
No Tocotronic fans here? Not necessarily krautrock, but Krauts, and rock. For real Krautrock - of course das model and computer love. Also no criticism of anyone here, but "krautrock"? Come on. Why not weisswurstrock, or jaegerschnitzel rock? I'm just saying it'd be like if I called the Beatles marmiterock.
You're thinking of the cabbage that goes on hot dogs. Most people would think "Yank, Bloke, Canuck, Argie, Frog (frog may be a bridge too far), Kraut..."
Most Rockabilly and associated music (Brian Setzer, Stray Cats, Bill Haley/Comets, that shit) grates on my nerves, probably because of the period it represents. It all kinda sounds like a lunch counter I can't eat at or a drive in restaurant where I can't get served. See also, pompadours, duck tails, leather jackets, formica tables... the music of the 50s should be ten thousand times as ugly and real as some of what defined the 60s. Strangely, I don't feel this way about bluegrass, maybe because that's still evolving. I never understood White folks' fascination with this era. BUT... I do like this one song.
Iggy Pop is fooling y'all. He probably has a spa out West where he detoxes every few weeks. The whole Euell Gibbons dietary thing. And he has the money to indulge clean if he wants.
