It's a tiny bit odd to me that, with an authorized biography released recently, The Bangles are not touring and it's Susanna Hoffs solo. Seems like a missed opportunity.
I don't think Steele was ever very happy in that band, and I think the sisters have other gigs, as does Hoffs. Not sure she was even on the last tour. Getting a band on the road years later is not necessarily easy-- timing can be a real issue, and they have done several reunion tours with so-so success, I think...
Steele has fully retired from music, Bangles or otherwise. She had joined the band in 1983, replacing Annette Zilinskas, who rejoined the band in 2018, at least for touring. I realize it's hard to get an old band back together and whatnot, but they still have an active website which promotes the recently-published biography. It just seems that if they are officially still together and they are promoting a book about them, they would have seen this as an optimal time to tour for the first time in years. They participated in the making the of the book and are promoting it, so they weren't taken by surprise. Like I said--it just seems like a missed opportunity. But I'm not their manager.
Apparently the tiny desk concert of Miles Canton and Buddy Guy was a classic. Also Apparently Guy is the father of Shawna a rapper on Ludacris' DTP label.
My daughter had my phone this morning as I took her to science camp. The rock station said Eddie Van Halen's kid Wolfgang has a group called Mammoth and they are good and getting better. Anyone rock guys heard of them?
Live Nation has settled with the Justice Department, avoiding a forced sale of Ticketmaster and ending the antitrust trial that began just last week, the government said Monday. Though few details were officially released, Politico reports — citing anonymous sources — that the ticketing giant will pay $200 million in damages to the 40 states involved in the case, plus allow third-party sellers like SeatGeek and Eventbrite to list tickets with Ticketmaster. The Justice Department and the states first sued Live Nation back in 2024.
Willie Colón was laid to rest today. Born and raised in The Bronx. A giant of Salsa and Latin jazz. He and others opened the doors for what Bad Bunny is today. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2026/feb/25/willie-colon-obituary
If anyone likes guitar instrumental music, highly recommend this album. There is just something about Japanese Surf Rock. Perfect album to smoke a blunt or a joint; kick back and forget the world for a moment. He's pretty well known in Japan. When the Beatles toured Japan, he was either the or an opening act.
I had my spotify late last week and this little ditty was recommended to me. So I have been listening to it and other related recommendations since then.
41 years ago...wow. I guess at this point you either love Queen or you don't and who really gives a fvck.
