How is it possible indeed. "How is it possible we've given this evil man so much power?" Jack White calls for US President Donald Trump to be arrested, impeached and jailed | Louder "Referencing Trump's posting of a racist meme depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes, White posted on Instagram: "This post would basically get anyone, at any job fired immediately... except for arguably the most important position in the world. That's right, trump is a racist, a rapist, a felon, a grifter (currently ordering the US govt. to pay him 10 billion dollars simply because no one will stop him.) and a full on dementia sufferer, and yet he has the power to send in gestapo ICE soldiers to kill our citizens, and so much more dangerously, has the nuclear codes and the ability to end humanity at any moment based on an egotistical whim..."" - Jack White
[UNPOPULAR OPINION]If you have a farewell tour and it's such a big success that you schedule another farewell tour afterwards, everybody who had a ticket for the first tour should get in for free.[/UNPOPULAR OPINION] I keep getting burned by this.
I'm pretty much done going to concerts. My last bucket list band was Midnight Oil, and I saw them as we were coming out of the pandemic. And Delores O Riordan is dead. So no Cranberries...

I guess you should just be happy that he’s still alive and kickin it. Surely he himself isn’t going to be improving his performance. The band might though?
I said the same in 2019, limiting it to artists I really wanted to see. My big reason being cost. Especially with all those fees. Last show I saw pre-Covid was Beck. Then, while stuck at home during the pandemic one of the things I told myself was to start going to more concerts again. I went to three, four shows in the span of six months. Saw Khruangbin, Bonobo, Marc Rebillet among others. I make it a point to keep an eye out for anyone I like and to go. It's too much fun. I'd love to see PJ Harvey again, I'm going to as many Khruangbin shows as much as possible because they've always been fun, I'm debating seeing Thievery Corporation again next month (On a weekday and I work now), I got see David Byrne and loved that. Annoying thing is I've checked out of music as of late but I'm hoping once things are fully settled at the job I can start listening to online music again. It also doesn't help that the BBC made it impossible to listen to Radio 6 outside of the UK.

Saw Tame Impala in 2015 at Sasquatch Music Festival at the Gorge. Was a daytime set. Saw them again at a Bonnaroo (maybe 2016? late night). Kevin Parker is incredible.
So I've been driving a bit the past week and I found a local community college station "left of the dial". Plays eclectic mix of tunes and I've already found a number to add to the playlist. Brings me back to my college days listening to WFDU, WFMU, WNYU. This one was really good:
I was reading today that Cher has had a number 1 on the various Billboard charts in 7 consecutive decades, starting in the 1960s and continuing into the 2020s. That is damn impressive.
Less is more seems to be her motto - she was never the type to do a lot of records or a lot of films. She's always been my favorite (not breaking any stereotypes there!) - as a kid I remember watching the Sonny & Cher show when it was on TV. One game I like to play when bored watching TV is Six Degrees of Separation. It turns out I have at most only 4 degrees of separation with Cher: 1. I know Jacqueline Beer, a former Miss France who was married to Thor Heyerdahl (true story, on Easter Island when we were all there together I was once asked if I was their son). Jacqueline was on 77 Sunset Strip with 2. Efrem Zimbalist Jr, who was on Remington Steele with 3. Pierce Brosnan, who was in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again with 4. Cher
I just remember her in Suspect, Moonstruct and Tea With Mussolini. Enjoyed them. Ps...no one ever wanted to claim I was their son...or even related!
I really liked Tea With Mussolini. I've long tried to find Cher's version of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" from that movie with no success. Mask, Mermaids, and Silkwood with Meryl Streep are others that come to mind in addition to Mamma Mia 2 (where she played Meryl Streep's mother).
Super group comprised of three indie rock musicians---> Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus in case you want to deep dive. Phoebe is the most popular of the three, Julien the best at guitar, and Lucy probably the best songwriter FWIW.
On the one hand, I'm really happy to see one of the neighborhood olds showing the ability to keep an open mind and try something new. Bravo! On the other, the "underground" band he just found is a supergroup with three Grammys. @Cascarino's Pizzeria, I think you'd like Manchester Orchestra. They're in the same vein as boygenius. Sad and atmospheric plus they feel like they were influenced heavily by The Sound or The Chameleons
I need to try that. I was in a play in college with Michael Boatman, who went on to major supporting roles on China Beach, Spin City, Arli$$ and The Good Fight.
Like most of us I imagine, I have a huge amount of respect for this guy. Might be time for my first Springsteen show...
